does anyone else notice theres a slight stumble at the beginning of Black Throated Wind on sunshine daydream? its between the very beginning and before the vocals start. or is it just me?

My 6 year old daughter loves the old Batman series (loves KISS too, Ace Frehley, God bless her). Sometimes she'll just walk up and say "Daddy,some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb". I record the old Batman series episodes, and we watch them before bed. Or live 70s KISS videos. Or animated 1967 Spiderman series. Or Star Wars. Or Star Wars Robot Chicken. Once in awhile she lets me put on Barbie.

Just speculation, but Dave said in his last video, that "I'm not sure if Dave's 23 is going to be from the returned batch". This leads me to believe we're due for a '72 show for the following reasons. Dave says they usually pick the year first, and then select a show from several being considered. If the returned Betty's are indeed "being considered" then the next pick must be from '71-'73 or '76-'79, since those are the years contained in the Betty Batch. They've already done a '73 and '71 pick this year, and the Big Box (TM) is from 1977. It's unlikely that they'll revisit those years. They've never repeated a year amongst picks during a calendar year, and the only time that I can recall where a Vault/Box and a Pick were from a repeated year was when the From Egypt With Love RT and Rocking The Cradle were released together. That leaves 1972, 1976, 1978, and 1979. In 2016, we got the July 1978 recordings and the 7/16- 17/76 mini box. It's less likely that they'll revisit those years than go to 1972 where we haven't seen a pick since DP14 (2015), It's also my suspicion that the next Big Box (TM) will be the BCT shows from August 1972 in 2018, so they're likely to avoid 1972 NEXT year. There is one 1979 show from the Betty Boards (that is known), but are they really gonna go with April 1979 over Summer/Fall 1972? Of course, I could be all wrong, and this is just speculation.

The best Batman....

....loved the '66 Batman as a kid. Still love it. Corny as hell, but classic none the less. Favorite scenes? The rubber shark attack (good thing he had the bat shark repellant in that utility belt of his), and when Batman is running around trying to throw that bomb away. I just read the news about Adam West. It was nice to see that despite the type-casting he still worked and learned to embrace The Batman years with humor. What a corny TV show but you have got to love Catwoman and Batgirl, huh? Meow.

Younger Heads and Name That Tune?

I have seen young fans at Rolling Stones and other old band concerts,but, but, but, not like the sheer amount of younger fans that I witness at a Dead show -- whether Phil, Bob, Furthur, The Dead, etc., etc, etc.. The Grateful Dead, while a 'rock-band,' invented something which will survive all of them. That's say something. Words don't suffice. I love that people who are initiates in the above can name a tune in just a couple of notes. At Phil's 70th show which was Furthur at Nokia/BestBuy where they completed The Abbey Road medley Bob, just before the encore, played a single note and flicked his wrist as if tossing that note to the audience for them to guess and I turned to a friend and said the encore is Saint Stephen while explaining what I just saw and heard. Sure enough it was Saint Stephen with Phil playing that recurring riff on bass, or, a bass heavy Saint Stephen. Due to business I have only just started listening to the new May 77 and sure enough, unfortunately, the second disc of May 5 skips, or has dropped sound all over. I will have to tear through all of them quickly and get replacements ASAP. Any advice on how to get my message/request for replacements?? Thanks all!

Keith Fan - Dead Heads Everywhere.....

I see a few come thru the "store", though not as many as you would think. One night I had a Jack Straw on and across the store I see this guy do the "air chord" on "jack straw from Wichita". When he got to the register, asked, "Deadhead?". "Yeah" comes the reply. (and a smile) Two nights ago this kid was in (maybe 19/20) and he had on a Dead and Company shirt. Was at Colorado last year. We got talking and I could see his eyes alight when I spoke of shows I'd been to and what I had in my collection. Said he'd be back with a hard drive, maybe a new friend. ".... once and awhile you get shown the light...."

Dead Heads...everywhere....

I'm sitting in the waiting room to get my oil changed, fiddling around with a play list on my phone, and I hit play by accident. Half a second of Lazy Lightning. Same thing happened on Scarlet Begonias 5 minutes later. Guy behind the desk says "Lazy Lightning, Scarlet Begonias".

i've seen two of your posts in one weekcomplaining about someone's negative comments-guess what, when someone has an opinion that is not aligned with your thoughts,even if it's about someone setting a price for something they selling or the band is slop before pigpen.its gonna be negative.it's their prerogative to say it's not worth it or no thanks.i think it's your emotional immaturity to anything negative or something you don't agree with.you could have left it to-"that's your opinion and i don't agree."instead you feel it's necessary to put someone down.earth without rain is a desert.

Pauses between tracks?

Hi all, A technical issue I'm hoping to resolve: Recently ordered this set, promptly downloaded the CDs to my iTunes collection. Getting 1-2 second pauses between most of the tracks which disturbs the flow of the music. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it? Gareth

It’s most likely caused by a setting in iTunes. Go into the iTunes preferences and see what is listed for import settings, as well as for playback settings.If you still can’t fix it then google it, there should be instructions somewhere.

Newly Grateful Recommendations

You know, Gareth, it really comes down to what you like about the Dead... When I put in the Dead, I rarely want to listen to songs, so to speak. I tend to go for the long, inspired jams. For this, I would suggest the Winterland 1973 boxed set as No. 1, so far... though in general, shows from the 1973-1974 will be your best bet for this... That said, there are gems of shows throughout the years, though I've never personally been impressed by anything later than 1977. May 1977: Get Shown the Light (All Music Edition) is a great collection from this year. I also really love One from the Vault, Sunshine Daydream, & Dick's Picks, Vol. 14... The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack is an all-too-looked-over gem, too. Finally, if you can afford it, I'd recommend getting a copy of the Pacific NW '73-'74 boxed set while it's still available on this site. When these sell out on dead.net, they price-inflate like crazy to 2x their original cost or more.

Get Shown the Light, the box with the book, was limited to 15,000 copies, I read somewhere.But I can’t find anything on the All Music Edition that’s still available. Can somebody tell me how many of those were printed?

Best digital format?

So, I'm totally showing my newbie-ness, but when the formats are digital, which is the best to download? I'm thinking about uploading to iphone for maximum bluetoothing. Also, is the first selection a CD collection of the four shows? I didn't see it listed behind the All Music Edition, so I figured it must be sold out.

16/44.1 is CD format, so you could convert to WAV or AIFF on a computer and burn CDs if you wanted to, as well as have the digital file on a music player.

The higher resolution files are for a computer or music player. If you wanted to burn CDs from those files you would lose the higher resolution that you paid more for.

I downloaded the ALAC of this digital download but when I import into iTunes it is not recognizing the artist or songs and not creating an album. For the same ALAC download for Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: The Complete Recordings Boxed Set it worked perfectly in iTunes. Why does this download now import correctly? Thanks if anyone knows or can help.

May 1977: Get Shown The Light (All Music Edition)

Since they sold out of the regular box set with all the bells and whistles, and had a huge demand, Dead.Net is selling an All Music Edition that "...only includes the 11 CDs in four folios and a booklet of liners, housed in a simple slipcase."

So, still the four shows, just without the special packaging and the unpublished book. This time, the order went through. Nothing on the website about this also being a limited release -- it's not numbered, but they don't specify if it's another set amount.

Excellent news ! I wonder if they will re-release other box sets in this format that originally sold out. Fillmore West 1969 is the one I sadly missed out on and would shell out for in a heartbeat.

Does somebody have problems with tracking number?

I've purchased the fantastic Lyceum LPs more than a month ago and still nothing arrived.
I've searched for the tracking number done by the GD store on the DHL site but nothing appears.
I've yet written to the customer helpdesk, but I'm curious if somebody encountered my same problem.

Just to state the obvious, they are indeed fantastic records. I am half way through 5/25/72 at the moment - one that no-one really mentions. Probably because of the night after, which is a shame as it's a great show in it's own right. Curious "Good Lovin" - 14min 53 seconds, and no Pigpen rap - he just sings the opening the verses and the closing ones some 12 minutes later. In between we have spot on r'n'b jamming like no-one else.
