backwards show?/
Deal??? What a great closer.....i mean opener!! It just felt like the whole show was backwards. Morning dew to open the 2nd set?? It was just not heard of in those days. Small place to see the dead in. I got real close to the stage. The band were goofing off, laughing and have fun on the stage. One of the BEST Morning Dews i ever heard.
This palce is long gone. There is a big condo in its place now
A+++ show!!!
I agree with Gary
GREAT SHOW----because they mixed things up...besides the awesome playing . Third song: Iko Iko! They were in a really great mood on the stage and the crowd responded. The sunsine felt good for this northen boy too!
MY FIRST SHOW!! (of only 2)...has to be 5 stars!
I'd just moved from UK to work in the Bahamas. Took 2 flights to Miami and lost my hotel ticket. Befriended by Marcia & Mike Elder who saved the day, as they would for the next 12 years - love you guys. The drive to the sportatorium was surreal, being surrounded by deadheads. I'd left a small British industrial town and I'd never seen anything like it.
I think I spent most of the gig pinching myself. I really didn't know any songs until Sugar Magnolia!! At the end of the first set everyone buggered off for a beer and a smoke, so I got within about 20 feet of the stage. I didn't even know about drums>space - so that's what I remember first. I certainly remember Bobby climbing onto the speakers!!!
rmburke

Foggy But Eventful
I don't remember a lot about the show itself. However a soon-to-be friend of mine was arrested in a restroom stall as he tried to flush a little something during Dire Wolf. I guess the undercover cop in the stall next door heard some sniffing sounds and decided that it was not related to a head cold. All was well after some proper lawyering. But I will re-visit this one at Archive just because it looks so interesting on paper and in the kind recommendations here.
Home state show
I grew up a suburban kid in the 70s in Boca Raton and this was the venue where we saw so many bands play.Blue Oyster Cult, Queen, Boston, Santana, Robin Trower, Ted Nugent, Electric Light Orchestra, Kansas, Mott the Hoople, Van Halen, Rush......the list goes on.
This was an ugly, terrible sounding venue.... but there was something raw about it that brought the best out of bands that played there.
This was the beginning of the 20 years so far fall tour with the big banner behind the stage.
Great second set.
Happy Easter to all
I remember after the Chuak Vista I had a nasty tooth ache and drove back east to the family's home.Where I had my local debtist pull my tooth.Three days of severe pain on that ride.Got back east here and started to drink rite along with my dad. He was a heavy hitter till he got sober same time as me in 1989.When I got to Florida many of my friends from touring gave me crap for looking chubby. We did not put on a whole lot of weight while touring thats for sure. Eating was last on the list for me back then Booze and drugs and follwing the boys everywhere was first and foremost. Loving my beer as i did it was funny because someone had somehow broke into the arena the night before and stolen a few kegs of beer. Anyone else remember that? We had an all night keg party on the house for sure. This show starting with the Deal made me think it had something to do witgh the largest L S D bust in history month or so before the show.So big it made the cover of Rolling stone magazine.Yes I knew who it is and why it happened and where but thats not for me to throw on some public form.Sure glad I nothing to do with that kind of stuff other then just staying afloat wasn't one to step out in the crowd so much..Prefered the low profile make a few byucks here and there just enough to get by.Anyway going off here. This show was alot of fun warm fall weather in the south and back on tour for the ramaining years till I was repossed in 1989 to get sober. Thank God for sobriety.Otherwise would be long gone and Dead at this point that I know for sure.
Gone are the days.....
