re. credit card issues

As previously posted at one point I had 13 copies of the boxset in my cart last Thursday as I was unable to complete any transaction and each time I retried to initiate the purchase, another package was in my cart, but did not have the ability to remove them. I just checked my credit card, and I have been charged and then charges deleted for each of 13 potential purchase. I am very confuzzled now....If I end up with a fuck load of limited edition box sets, they are up for the taking at cost here, not eBay. I've got nothing left to do but smile, Smile SMILE....said with teeth clenched and currently somewhat stressed.....

Logged in.... "pending?"...yes, now I see and agree "Fuckery" is properly used here. So while listening to Dave speak about this being the beginning of Rhino filling in the gaps, I'm thinking this is a pretty shitty way to kick things off. Sure, I'm a sucker for most of these sets including Dave's Picks for a few years now. I'd think they'd get how important this is for bringing in new folks and how much positive buzz this should have. The comment section should be all stoked for the future, not pissed and bummed this is what we're going to have to face for this and the next releases? Fix this RHINO/WarnerMusic. Push it through and just charge us for the pre-order already. We trust you to deliver us the goods obviously.

To me, pre-order means you're simply purchasing it in advance. I pay then I wait. Regardless of the form of payment, it should be a fairly simple and direct process. You're right, Lightfoot510. They're running a "test" to make sure funds are consistently available until they decide to extract them altogether. But whether it's a credit card, debit card, or PayPal, why not just complete the transaction and be done with it? For most people, a debit card is an immediate and easier form of payment. Oh, and interest free (the reason I personally don't always put it on a credit card unless absolutely necessary). I'd rather just be able to deduct the amount from my balance and move on. But this game of transaction hop-scotch is exasperating.

That charge is the test transaction i believe, they were just 'making sure' that you had the funds available in the account to complete the order. I guess theyre going to be doing this test transaction every week until the release date, which in my mind sounds absolutely ridiculous... but oh well, i guess thats one reason to always put it on a credit card. Correct me if im wrong

Yes, I'm experiencing this too, but so far, my order has not been canceled. Originally had a pending charge last Thursday. Disappeared by Sunday, and now I have both a positive and negative pending charge. Super weird. I hope my card does not bounce this because it looks so weird. What's up with the negative pending charge? I'd love if for Warner Music to pay me for this box!

Holy shit... that is some fuckery. I usually use a credit card for pre orders (including this one), wouldve been pissed if they pulled this on me, like ive seen multiple other people go through. The whole fraud protection thing is a very good point- most banks are no doubt going to flag that shit if its a weekly thing, wow. Kinda flabbergasted about that policy Edit: would banks view the weekly authorization differently under credit vs. debit? i.e they dont flag weekly authorizations like this if its a credit card? Perhaps it varies from bank to bank? I dont recall seeing charges for the Daves Picks subscription

Pre-Order Policy

Found this on the Customer Service FAQ page. Outlines their payment policy for pre-orders: "Please be aware that you will need to keep an available balance to cover your purchase until the time of release, which in some cases can be many weeks. Should we not be able to obtain a valid reauthorization on a weekly basis, your order will be cancelled and you will be notified. If you still want the order after receiving a cancelation notification, you will need to place your order again with an available balance if the product is still available. Please note that we will not be able to reinstate your original order after it is canceled. If you would like to avoid this reauthorization process, we suggest you use PayPal as your method of payment." Here's the fuckery: "Should we not be able to obtain a valid reauthorization on a WEEKLY basis, your order will be CANCELLED and you will be notified. If you still want the order after receiving a cancelation notification, you will need to place your order again with an available balance IF the product is still available." Yeah. Read that sobering paragraph a few times. Now, let's say you used your debit card and, as part of their FRAUD PROTECTION policy, your bank flags all of these pending authorizations as potential FRAUD. Because, frankly, from their perspective it does look suspect. Warner can't authorize, order gets cancelled, fuck you very much for your business. What baboon on crack is running this operation?

Simonrob- Youre the first ive heard who has their status as processing... im still on pending. Im just really hoping I dont get an email stating that the order was cancelled. Although after seeing the test charge go through and come back without a hitch, I think its all good. Midwaykid- I was referring to credit cards, not debit.

Rhino Cancelled my Order Too

It took me 7 hours to get my order through on the first day, and I did, even downloaded the "single".... today Rhino cancelled my order. I don't understand why they wouldn't contact us, like other businesses do, to get an alternate form of payment. I called dead.net and they're sending an escalation to Warner's. An unhappy event from start to finish, it seems.

i've seen two of your posts in one weekcomplaining about someone's negative comments-guess what, when someone has an opinion that is not aligned with your thoughts,even if it's about someone setting a price for something they selling or the band is slop before pigpen.its gonna be negative.it's their prerogative to say it's not worth it or no thanks.i think it's your emotional immaturity to anything negative or something you don't agree with.you could have left it to-"that's your opinion and i don't agree."instead you feel it's necessary to put someone down.earth without rain is a desert.

Pauses between tracks?

Hi all, A technical issue I'm hoping to resolve: Recently ordered this set, promptly downloaded the CDs to my iTunes collection. Getting 1-2 second pauses between most of the tracks which disturbs the flow of the music. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it? Gareth

It’s most likely caused by a setting in iTunes. Go into the iTunes preferences and see what is listed for import settings, as well as for playback settings.If you still can’t fix it then google it, there should be instructions somewhere.

Newly Grateful Recommendations

You know, Gareth, it really comes down to what you like about the Dead... When I put in the Dead, I rarely want to listen to songs, so to speak. I tend to go for the long, inspired jams. For this, I would suggest the Winterland 1973 boxed set as No. 1, so far... though in general, shows from the 1973-1974 will be your best bet for this... That said, there are gems of shows throughout the years, though I've never personally been impressed by anything later than 1977. May 1977: Get Shown the Light (All Music Edition) is a great collection from this year. I also really love One from the Vault, Sunshine Daydream, & Dick's Picks, Vol. 14... The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack is an all-too-looked-over gem, too. Finally, if you can afford it, I'd recommend getting a copy of the Pacific NW '73-'74 boxed set while it's still available on this site. When these sell out on dead.net, they price-inflate like crazy to 2x their original cost or more.

Get Shown the Light, the box with the book, was limited to 15,000 copies, I read somewhere.But I can’t find anything on the All Music Edition that’s still available. Can somebody tell me how many of those were printed?

Best digital format?

So, I'm totally showing my newbie-ness, but when the formats are digital, which is the best to download? I'm thinking about uploading to iphone for maximum bluetoothing. Also, is the first selection a CD collection of the four shows? I didn't see it listed behind the All Music Edition, so I figured it must be sold out.

16/44.1 is CD format, so you could convert to WAV or AIFF on a computer and burn CDs if you wanted to, as well as have the digital file on a music player.

The higher resolution files are for a computer or music player. If you wanted to burn CDs from those files you would lose the higher resolution that you paid more for.

I downloaded the ALAC of this digital download but when I import into iTunes it is not recognizing the artist or songs and not creating an album. For the same ALAC download for Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: The Complete Recordings Boxed Set it worked perfectly in iTunes. Why does this download now import correctly? Thanks if anyone knows or can help.

Since they sold out of the regular box set with all the bells and whistles, and had a huge demand, Dead.Net is selling an All Music Edition that "...only includes the 11 CDs in four folios and a booklet of liners, housed in a simple slipcase."

So, still the four shows, just without the special packaging and the unpublished book. This time, the order went through. Nothing on the website about this also being a limited release -- it's not numbered, but they don't specify if it's another set amount.

Does somebody have problems with tracking number?

I've purchased the fantastic Lyceum LPs more than a month ago and still nothing arrived.
I've searched for the tracking number done by the GD store on the DHL site but nothing appears.
I've yet written to the customer helpdesk, but I'm curious if somebody encountered my same problem.

Just to state the obvious, they are indeed fantastic records. I am half way through 5/25/72 at the moment - one that no-one really mentions. Probably because of the night after, which is a shame as it's a great show in it's own right. Curious "Good Lovin" - 14min 53 seconds, and no Pigpen rap - he just sings the opening the verses and the closing ones some 12 minutes later. In between we have spot on r'n'b jamming like no-one else.
