We can't help it, really - for we, like you, are Grateful Dead fans above all else. Just like you, we've spent countless hours debating the merits of show over show, year over year. it's a good one. the High Time is a great one. some say the other nights at the run at this venue would've been a better selection. I dunno bout all that but I like what I hear on this and seems to be an appropriate choice for the series. I originally dismissed this one when I bought it with Christmas money in '03. I think '81 is my favorite era out of the '80s. Dicks 13: the little show that could.

Not to be so gloomy on the set..It obviously was nothing to complain about and I told Dennis, in complaining I feel like the folks that whine when Dylan doesnt play Like a Rolling Stone. :/ Did enjoy the opportunity to go to Boston for my second visit..clam chowder at the Union Oyster House, have mercy. (To quote the philosopher Uncle Jesse)

That's great that you got to experience the music live. And Drums/Spave is great live, they seem to keep it a little shorter than in the 90's to not turn anybody off. I love The Beam.Too bad about the bad vibes, that seems to happen sometimes. I don't know the details but had you been in a different area of the venue then maybe everything would have been great. I suggest you try to attend a few more shows whenever possible, while the old guys are still functioning. I think you live in the South and they don't seem to do as many dates down here which needs to change. I think that ATL deserves a 2 night weekend slot, there are several stadiums available: Turner Field and GA Tech football stadium (Rolling Stones played it last tour) which are both outdoors and about the right size. D&C played indoors at Philips Arena 11-17-15, that's always a possibility. This past Tuesday at Lakewood sold out, so I think that 2 nights on a weekend would also sell out and would enable people from the Southeast to catch a show. New Orleans deserves a show too.

Got back earlier this afternoon from Dead & Co at Fenway last night, we flew out to check out the show, my first Dead-related. A lot to take in..I don't think anyone was lying when they said there is nothing like a Grateful Dead show, even at this point. Just crowd watching was as entertaining anything. Some downer points.. not worth going into but some bad vibes in the crowd that kind of ruined a decent portion of it for us, but on the whole it was alot of fun. I really like what Mayer brings to it, instilling some different blood into things. They were all good though, Weir is the kingpin and does a great job..Oteil and Chimenti are great, glad to hear some organ actually. That wasn't the case often listening to the Fare Thee Well shows. And I actually tremendously enjoyed Drums>Space live..gotta say I often struggle when listening on CD. And seeing it all at Fenway, very cool. On the whole, not the setlist I would have chosen if I had my druthers..but setlist has nothing to do with it. And I say that, but I wouldn't replace Big Bossman (with the Pig tribute on the screen), H>S>....F, Sugaree..man Sugaree was sweet. Cool stuff.

Hot Lovelight, too. The liner notes story of a muddy mess is funny, too. Nassau Coliseum 3/29, 30/1990 Man! they played hot at Nassau, You can hear the crowd yell we want Phil on 3/30 and they change it up and play Tom thumbs blues! And Branford...What if he had joined the band? Some awesome DS jamming with him. DaP 2017 Bonus Disk 12/6/71 Felt Forum there's some good stuff here, but this is not a knockout bonus. Interesting to hear some songs like Loser in their infancy. Sounds like the band is still learning Black peter.

When I first got the box, I listened to it all once and put it on the shelf so I could listen to other shows. Last week I had an urge to listen to the box for a second time.The verdict: All four shows are excellent, very strong playing. Several songs are repeated, like Estimated, too bad there is only one Half Step in the four shows. I'm also a big fan of Lazy Lightnin and there are two in this box. Also that Comes a time is really Powerful. This box will be a go to box for a long time!

i've seen two of your posts in one weekcomplaining about someone's negative comments-guess what, when someone has an opinion that is not aligned with your thoughts,even if it's about someone setting a price for something they selling or the band is slop before pigpen.its gonna be negative.it's their prerogative to say it's not worth it or no thanks.i think it's your emotional immaturity to anything negative or something you don't agree with.you could have left it to-"that's your opinion and i don't agree."instead you feel it's necessary to put someone down.earth without rain is a desert.

Pauses between tracks?

Hi all, A technical issue I'm hoping to resolve: Recently ordered this set, promptly downloaded the CDs to my iTunes collection. Getting 1-2 second pauses between most of the tracks which disturbs the flow of the music. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it? Gareth

It’s most likely caused by a setting in iTunes. Go into the iTunes preferences and see what is listed for import settings, as well as for playback settings.If you still can’t fix it then google it, there should be instructions somewhere.

Recommendations for a Newly Grateful Deadhead?

Newly Grateful Recommendations

You know, Gareth, it really comes down to what you like about the Dead... When I put in the Dead, I rarely want to listen to songs, so to speak. I tend to go for the long, inspired jams. For this, I would suggest the Winterland 1973 boxed set as No. 1, so far... though in general, shows from the 1973-1974 will be your best bet for this... That said, there are gems of shows throughout the years, though I've never personally been impressed by anything later than 1977. May 1977: Get Shown the Light (All Music Edition) is a great collection from this year. I also really love One from the Vault, Sunshine Daydream, & Dick's Picks, Vol. 14... The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack is an all-too-looked-over gem, too. Finally, if you can afford it, I'd recommend getting a copy of the Pacific NW '73-'74 boxed set while it's still available on this site. When these sell out on dead.net, they price-inflate like crazy to 2x their original cost or more.

Get Shown the Light, the box with the book, was limited to 15,000 copies, I read somewhere.But I can’t find anything on the All Music Edition that’s still available. Can somebody tell me how many of those were printed?

Best digital format?

So, I'm totally showing my newbie-ness, but when the formats are digital, which is the best to download? I'm thinking about uploading to iphone for maximum bluetoothing. Also, is the first selection a CD collection of the four shows? I didn't see it listed behind the All Music Edition, so I figured it must be sold out.

16/44.1 is CD format, so you could convert to WAV or AIFF on a computer and burn CDs if you wanted to, as well as have the digital file on a music player.

The higher resolution files are for a computer or music player. If you wanted to burn CDs from those files you would lose the higher resolution that you paid more for.

I downloaded the ALAC of this digital download but when I import into iTunes it is not recognizing the artist or songs and not creating an album. For the same ALAC download for Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: The Complete Recordings Boxed Set it worked perfectly in iTunes. Why does this download now import correctly? Thanks if anyone knows or can help.

May 1977: Get Shown The Light (All Music Edition)

Since they sold out of the regular box set with all the bells and whistles, and had a huge demand, Dead.Net is selling an All Music Edition that "...only includes the 11 CDs in four folios and a booklet of liners, housed in a simple slipcase."

So, still the four shows, just without the special packaging and the unpublished book. This time, the order went through. Nothing on the website about this also being a limited release -- it's not numbered, but they don't specify if it's another set amount.

Excellent news ! I wonder if they will re-release other box sets in this format that originally sold out. Fillmore West 1969 is the one I sadly missed out on and would shell out for in a heartbeat.

Does somebody have problems with tracking number?

I've purchased the fantastic Lyceum LPs more than a month ago and still nothing arrived.
I've searched for the tracking number done by the GD store on the DHL site but nothing appears.
I've yet written to the customer helpdesk, but I'm curious if somebody encountered my same problem.

Just to state the obvious, they are indeed fantastic records. I am half way through 5/25/72 at the moment - one that no-one really mentions. Probably because of the night after, which is a shame as it's a great show in it's own right. Curious "Good Lovin" - 14min 53 seconds, and no Pigpen rap - he just sings the opening the verses and the closing ones some 12 minutes later. In between we have spot on r'n'b jamming like no-one else.
