According to the New Riders' Facebook page, they are in the studio recording a new album. At least one Robert Hunter lyrical contribution, "Suite at the Mission." Hoping for more. Their last album, Where I Come From, features a number of new Hunter songs, and shows David Nelson and Buddy Cage at the top of their form--and I'm sure the new one will be at least as good.

Two fantastic shows last week in PA, this band rocks the classic NRPS songs with some Dead, Dylan, and Stones mixed in. Their new stuff is very good too, especially "Higher" -this song has New Riders of the Purple Sage written all over it! Check them out, you will be glad ya did I'm new here and hope to have some NRPS pictures posted soon. And I know we'll be there soon

Sounds like there's some really lucky folk 'round........... IMO their website rocks and rolls, lyrics and songs, I was able to dive in deep before my first show last year. Afterward, I was combing through my cd collection and was able to locate original NRPS and original works by the current lineup's other endeavors, fancy how easy it is to forget an old cd or few. Now to secure those tickets.......

I'm looking forward to seeing them at 10,000 Lakes Festival. Panama Red was one of our gangs favorite songs to sing along to back in high school in the early 70's. Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.) Walt Whitman-Song of Myself

Caught them live last year and let me admit here and now, I never saw anyone play a pedal steel from like 4 feet away and from behind. Wow. Food for the ole listen' imagination. The encore Ripple was spine tingling touching. They sold out two shows here last year and will again this, so if they come round yer parts, better snatch up some tickets, fast. Need it even be said Dave Nelson and Buddy Cage and good, no grate music.

I am really excited that NRPS is coming back to the Lou for a two night run next month. Gotta get tickets (they sold out 2 shows here last year.) The venue is a historic schoolhouse: The Lucas Schoolhouse Very intimate and sounds great as well. Come and check them out. I know that I will be there both nights.

to be in Norfolk VA when Nelson and crew decided to get the band back together. Talked at lenght with he and Buddy. Was awesome. My friend dirt got a boat back in the 80s and named it Dirty Buisness execpt he misspelled Business (see prior spelling). Nelson got a kick out of that.Wasnt ballsy enough to ask about Dawson. 2nd favorite band of all time. “The Omnipotent Grateful Dead!”

I caught them at The Sportsman's Tavern in buffalo. A tiny club, really just a small bar with a stage. The owner graciously limited the capacity to 80 tix - he could have packed 200 plus inside but it would have been really tight. Clearly he knows somebody...THESE GUYS COMPLETELY TORE THE PLACE UP. Like I said, only 80 paying patrons, and they played like we were 10,000 strong. Two 1&1/2 hour sets. I stood right next to Buddy Cage - I could have tapped him on the shoulder. They played with enthusiasm and true to their roots. It ripped. The sound was awesome. I saw Furthur the next day in Mohawk NY and I have to say that the New Rider show was musically better. Furthur had many of the elements of a good old grateful dead show - Shakedown Street, beautiful venue and weather, nice light show, but NRPS was better music!!! (OK, so I'm comparing Mohawk to an amazing show in Rochester a week earlier, but it wasn't a super show. NRPS WAS!!!) no Panama or Glendale, but everything else was ex-stuperous. OtisOtis

In Greensfield MA May 28th. Lots of good jam bands and good vibes. Make sure to do a side-trip to the Japanese Peace Shrine in Leverett about 15 miles away. Note: This festival used to be known as Camp Creek for the Dead semi cover band called Max Creek.

Sportsmen's Tavern just announced on Facebook NRPS is back on June 30. They're in the middle of expanding. Right now they can fit around 120 in comfortably. Hopefully we'll see a little lower ticket price. I agree, it was a great show last year; quite a party. The Sportsmen's is my favorite local venue.

I have seen N.R.P.S. at least a half dozen times, never have they disappointed, class act through and through! I vote "Lonesome L.A. Cowboy" as one of their best songs ever! For the lyrical content of course,"Til the Next Line Comes Along" it,s so true to form!
