    Looks like our buddy Dennis was at this one? D, if your out there, any comments?
    I was at first going to try the BG aud, but went with the Miller SB, which was decent.
    Show was ok, started out with some ok energy, nice Sugaree, then cool they rolled right into El Paso, but you could tell it was a tad allegro. Good of Bobby to just go with it instead of some awkward drastic change up. From there it’s a average outing until an ok, but nothing special Bird Song, and what at the time was probably a cool set ending Women Are.
    Now the Shakedown on the other hand was amazing. At first I was non plussed, but by the end, phew, beauty eh!
    That Shakedown alone was worth the price of admission. Sailor Saint was ok, followed by a sweet jam sans Fatty with Bob and Brent laying down some cool leads in Spanish jam etc. Nice UJB followed by a sorta status quo ending capped off by an always welcome Baby Blue.
    Certainly understandable how this gets overlooked by it’s more well know rowdy neighbors, and not perhaps dosent hang with the best of 82, but another off piste enjoyable show, and another notch on the proverbial “dead post”.

    Yaassss that whole fall 91 run has been a real eye opener. I agree love 9/25, 10/31 is a top shelf show worthy of pickery, and 9/22 is another worthy candidate, but so far 9/26 is my fav, though I still need to hit the MSG run. Think I’ve only heard one of those so far but loved it.
    Perhaps we need to hit 2/19/91 someday since Bolo brought it up?

    Another enjoyable 82 show. Thanks for the nudge OB. I will have to go back and check out that Aud at some point Jim.
    Good first set, nice It's all over now, Birdsong, Man Smart, Women Smarter. Second set bonanza with Shakedown Street, Lost Sailor, SOC into a really good Jam. Was that a duck in UJB? Love those IAONBB encores. Really good show.

    Went w/ the Miller

    Then I read the soundboard shaming comment from the archive that enthusiastically pointed towards the Glassberg audience. So I pulled that one down, digitized and dove in head first.

    I decided I like the Miller soundboard the best, but he has a point, many of the boards from this era sound think and lacking in dynamics. ..but once you get dialed in you adjust. I liked the Miller, it's the one seeded in 2019. I find often is there is more than on Miller, the later date wins the prize.

    A good show, great shakedown, very good sound for the era.. interesting.

    Not sure why I posted this.. perhaps an audience aficionado will have a different perspective. The comments from LMA are below.

    the glassberg AUD is again the best recording for this great 1982 show. the description says it's an upgrade to all other sources. it should have the disclaimer that it's a sbd upgrade to sbds. the aud is significantly better. there is simply no reverb, sustain or fullness in these recordings. listen to the slow intro to nfa and the few slams brent gives the organ. it sounds thin and there is NO impact. i don't understand why these sources are hyped. please do yourself a favor and listen to the barry glassberg aud if you want to hear what this show sounded like live.

    4/17/82 sounds like a great pick! I'm going to wait to get home and stream it on the Big Boy.

    Also, @ IceCreamKid - 10/31/91 is an all-timer! That should definitely be a Dave's pick! I also really enjoy the whole Boston Garden 91 run - one of which (9/25/91) was Dick's Pick 17. I'd like to see some more of those as well! I particularly like the night before, with LTGTR opener, New Speedway 1st set closer, then the Ship of Fools>Dark Star in set 2. Some good shows that late summer/early fall (the MSG run has some gems too!)

    I'll do 4/17, good pick and a new one to me. The next night has that Phil California Earthquake space. Phil was on a roll with good contributions to space that week.

    The Miller sounds great, just a couple small patches.

    I’m sorry, I don’t think I can do a live version, there’s just too much: too many must have songs, from different must have eras etc.,
    BUT, I’ve already done a “album” version back a few years. I was asked to make a disc of the most known, perhaps main songs for someone who had causally seen the band and had some interest BITD. I was asked to keep it simple, no 36 minute songs etc lol. So I started thinking the same way Bolo presented this to us and realized if I tried to pick live stuff I’d die before I finished lol, so thought I’d use album versions, like I was teaching a GD 101 course.
    My criteria was to use the most well known, most easily accessible, sometimes the hits, but not always, and at least one song from every studio album, with at least one song from the main band members, in chronological order.
    Well it became quickly apparent that I couldn’t do that on only one disc, but did not want to go more than two. So it was a tough but fun process but here’s what I came up with. Like all final cuts I’m sure there’s room for “discussion” LOL

    NOTE: I use “album” loosely since there are several must have tunes that were never recorded on studio albums, so versions were taken from Skull Fuck and E72, which, are arguably hybrids. I Mean you HAVE to have a Bertha for example..Also, I used Must of Been Roses from Compliments, technically a JG album, but much of it in actuality of course is a band album similar to ACE. This song is slightly not chronological too, in order to keep the normal Jer/Bob sequencing. Days Between is from the So Many Roads box, which at the time was the closet thing to a studio cut I had.
    The Cryptical Suite was edited because of time constraints of the Redbook CD format, so I cut the last couple minutes and faded out using the trusty ML 9600 right after JG sings the last “has to die” part.

    My intention was to follow up with a second term GD 201 course version which would have hit the next level of songs: Terrapin, Stranger, H/S/F, China/Rider, etc. That could theoretically be followed up by GD 301 getting into the extended TOO, DS, Playins etc…
    I think this is a decent attempt at presenting the unpresentable to the often accessibly challenged ; )
    Oh, the gal I made this for loved it, said it was great except a couple of the first weird tunes lol, but she said she liked them and had her interest piqued!

    5/14/74: always surprises me just how much I like this one! So much good sheet besides the awesome Dark Star! That whole disc three just kicks ass! When I think of DaPs, this one, Scooby House, and Skeletor Skater are the first ones that pop up in my minds eye.

    3/8/70: liked the short show format. Agree with others: sound ok considering, ok show until the unfortunate take over. Especially during Katie Mae! Talk about rudes interuptus! Couidnt he let pig finish the song, yeesshhhkk!
    Gotta love how JG always takes these situations and uses them as a way to support whatever was going on. Like when he plays on others songs, he’s as good or better supporting others as he is leading!
    This is the kind nugget I’m looking for here on Pot Day, doesn’t have to be a great show, but the chances of just stumbling on this were low. So thanks to Doc for digging up this historical little nugget.

    3/31/91: First set looks great on paper, but? Not a bad set, but seemed kinda average, comparatively.
    The second set made up for it though. Like many of the Hornsby lineup tunes, the Samsons are like big fright trains that take a little time to get going outta the station, but when they do get up to speed, woo, woooo!
    They mesh that into a nice eyes with a awesome dreamy sequence that eventually comes out the other side and back to earth with the Wheel, including a couple of obvious Dark Star teases, but alas that would have to wait for the following night at that excellent Greensboro show Conekid turned us into a while back.
    Big Chuck B double scoop of R&R to bring her home, and sweet knockin to bring ‘em back to earth.
    Perhaps a tad short, but an overall enjoyable show. Don’t think I’d call release worthy since there are so many other strong 91s, if only they give us a 91 box…

    Ok, what next? I might hit 4/17/82 today!

This 91 show is a real gem! Thanks for posting the link VGUY, I don't have Boxilla, but this Matrix sounds sweet!

Wrapping up Set 1 now! That Cassidy got DEEP! High Time was another highlight, but this has been an overall excellent listen!

Set II of Nashville yesterday went about as I expected. I enjoyed the energy of the LL>Supp opener, I'm always a sucker for Must Have Been the Roses, and then I admit I got a little lost in the Estimated jam, which does seem to just meander around. The Eyes is speedy, which is not my favorite type, but it was ok, then Drums, which in 78 is almost always too long, NFA, Wharf Rat (late set highlight) Sugar Mags, OMSN - all fine versions, but not too exciting. I think I do like this pick slightly more than DaP7 - Normal, but I agree with GOGD, it was nice to dust this one off, but I think it'll get popped back on the shelf for a while.

Also, Good Ole - I am planning on checking out that 4/22/77 show - I just DL'd it and I think I will cue it up after DiP12, though I know that one so well I may just pop in for some highlights (of which there are MANY!)

Loving this new board! Good vibes all around!

Gotta go - they just opened set II with Help On the Way!

...er, a, I can’t keep up! The posts, the POTDs, pant, pant, this is becoming like a job....so I’ve had to miss a few. That’s ok, I didn’t need to hear some of those.
Did dig the JGB live, always a favorite. Top shelf all the way; Audio, tunes, and the band is definetly peak period.
DPs 12: yeah, haven’t heard this one much, prolly too much other competing new stuff to constantly chase? But I’ve always loved this one. I don’t necessarily mind some of the chopped picks when their sort of sequential and/or make sense flow wise. Don’t dig the “cut up” method.
9/10/91: this will be next fo shure, whenever that might be! I might be a couple a few Mississippi Halfsteps behind, but I’m with ya! Rock on folks!

Good show with B. M. Love the Shakedown opener, C.C Rider is good and that Dylan song was different. Help, Slip, Franklins was strong as well for that era. Definitely a change of pace. Thanks.

9/10 a elegant show played very loud,
6/28 a rockin' show played very loud.

Listened to the first few songs last night. That MNS starts off clunky but then really picks up. From what I heard last night it sounds more like an 84 than an 83. Will finish the show today.

While listening last night I remembered that a few days earlier I realized that I have video of that show. It’s partial and includes a few songs from 9/4. It’s a VTS folder which is used for burning DVD-R’s, but the file can also be mounted on a computer desktop and viewed that way.
If anyone wants a copy let me know, I already uploaded it to Google Drive.

Jim's answer is better - that took some work (and a slightly unhinged thought process - I like that!). I agree, he deserves a consolation prize, just for including the umlaut in Möller! Jim - send me your address and I'll shoot something your way.

OK, here's the original solution. The only two-word anagram for Fixable Foot that uses all the letters is Lifeboat Fox. A quick Google search would show that Oscar-nominated "Lifeboat" was the only film made for 20th Century Fox by Alfred Joseph Hitchcock. And, of course, Sir Hitchcock met his demise on April 29, 1980. But not at Atlanta's Fox Theater - he left in disgust after Jerry had that major brain fart during Terrapin Station!

I really tried to get Bolo's game, but after seeing the rationale, I was not on the same plane of reasoning. Would have never gone the Hitchcock direction. I did originally get Fox Theater though!

laguna seca 5.9.87. Touch of grey video shot that night. Dog took drummers leg/foot. Roadie put it back.
That was my first one.
Googled fixable foot. Brought me to club feet. A foot is 12 inches. Club Twelve. A non-profit. Which happens to reside in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio Civic Auditorium. 11.12.71.

Mind Blown... Just Think!

Wow... I do it for free, I'd def do it for money.. but even BETTER!

Early Comes A Time.. so good, extra verses, Jerry's reading of it, gots to be my favorite year for that song. So much good on this here release..

I'm glad this came on today cause it sounds just exactly perfect!

My 1st was 10/29/85 - Anagrams of Fox (Theater) and TOO - this show is at the Fox, has an Other One, and a Brokedown Palace (ref. something "fixable.") Also, the first set was cut short due to technical difficulties, another "fixable" problem.

Second guess was Lyceum 5/26/72 - It is the show that TOO was taken from to make-up the "Epilogue/Prelude" sections of the original E72 Lp, which prominently features a foot in need of fixing on the cover. I went this way after Bolo's comment that I needed to "go a little bit further" than I had before, so I went across the Atlantic.

Now I see that both guesses were woefully simple. Still, a fun game!

As to today's show - this raging Passenger is a perfect follow-up to that gorgeous Peggy-O! Another day, another great pick!

Just wait til' you get to the "Dark Star>Sitting On Top of the World> Dark Star>Bobby McGee"! One of the best segments of any Dave's Pick so far, in my (very) humble opinion.

Glad you're digging on it! Forensic Doc's love of 71 inspired me to check it out more, and now it is one of my favorite years for the band.

'71 is special
One of my first bootlegs was 4/29/71, I played it to death.
When I got back into collecting Dead after a long break, I got a hold of that Houseboat RT release and the China > Rider brought tears to my eyes as I realized what I'd been missing.

It's not my go to year cuz there's just so many other great years.. but it'll always be special to me!

....i think i speak for all of us that we would have all been a sweaty mess. Nice Playin' jam in that second set too. I give this show 7.2 goonie birds out of 10. (if you went to shows in '88-'89, you know what i mean).

I got a Goonie Bird at my first show in '86.. It was totally Goonie, I wasn't sure if what I was seeing was real or not.

I agree.. that Bertha is full on!

Man, seeing a show. Those were the days.

I think it's a young persons game, but I was young and dug it!

You beat me by 2 1/2 months, went to Riverbend 6/30/86 shortly after my 16th birthday:)

I remember going into the place it looked like an amusement park or something, again I was having trouble trusting what I was seeing, it was super hot and there was tie-dye everywhere and that goonie bird..

I can't remember a lot of things, but I've got some memories from that day that I always smile about.

There was a running dialogue all day I kept picking up on. It went something like:
Man it's Hot Out, You got your ticket?, It's Gonna Be a Good Show.. Man it's Hot Out, You Got your ticket? It's Gonna Be a Good Show..

I'd check my pockets every time. It's funny what you remember.

I was at this show, soundboard was taking up our reserved seats so they pulled out some nice padded chairs and put us right at the soundboard. I would have never guessed this was the pick. 2 word anagram, was that part of the clue? Missed that. What I remember (almost 40 years now) about this show was the Jack Straw opener, always loved a Jack Straw opener, got the crowd into it right off, the Passenger being really good, but I'm bias, I've always loved that tune. The second set with Don't ease as the opener, we all looked at each other and went "odd", the Lost Sailor>Saint being very nice. Of course the most remembered part was the awesomeness of the Fox Theatre itself, what a beautiful place and the planetarium ...wow, the sun went down the band came on, it got dark, the stars came out and we went to space and the band played on as the dawn approached, all inside that beautiful theatre. I do believe it is the nicest venue I have ever seen a band at, early 20th century decor, that carpet and those drapes, those bathrooms with the attendant, just so cool. Maybe not the best dead show, but I will never forget it. I've got the ticket stub around here somewhere, sparkles on the Grateful Dead lettering, if I find it, I'll post a pic of it.
