    Awesome Time!
The venue was beautiful -- I adore Vermont. It was the first time the hordes had descended on this tiny, nowhere town, and the locals were so kind and welcoming. I imagine it was like the circus coming to town. I remember feeling so lovely and psyched when after sitting in traffic for hours on the single highway into town, we saw the giant hot air balloon that said WELCOME DEADHEADS. Even the cops were nice, as is so often true in Vermont. One of my favorite venues. I remember Jerry forgot the words to Uncle John's Band, and sang "How does this song go?" with extra gusto. Hee. ~ Chick aka H.A. Fowler "She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes. And I knew without asking she was into the blues."

    Last Real Road Trip
Rode my motorcycle from NYC to see the show. Never thought it would be the last ride to a Dead show. Went to Bike week in Laconia from there and met up with friends from the city. On to Giants Stadium the next week for my last show.

This was my first and only show I had just discovered the dead. This was also the last road trip a group of special friends had together after that weekend life took off and we have never been all together in the same time or place together since. So Danforth, Radio Boy, Amanda and especially you Danielle where have we all gone and will we ever be back....Me and Radio got caught at the gate as the crowd rushed it we were pressed against the chain link for what seemed like forever I thought I was going to die the "security" opened the gate and we broke through just to be pushed and roughed up by the rent a cops so we fought our way past them into the see of humanity. We missed dylan the rest of the show was fun but there seemed to be a lot of people there for the party instead of the dead. The trip from upstate NY was the best part meeting people in the trafic jam and loving the weather and the music. I really wish I could have caught another show maybe someday I will get a chance to catch further...

Didn't Jerry flub U.S Blues also? I vaguely (of course) remember him singing "Oh, Charlie Chan" obviously in the wrong spot. He walked off the stage shaking his head. The next morning the Burlington Free Press gave the show 4 stars... Definitly one of the most memorable events of my 78 (i think) shows. What a phenomenal scene that was, though. I'm glad I decided not to go to the second one, things were getting scary at that point. Of course that's no news to anyone here. Cheers.

I rode a Vermont Trailways bus from Boston to Burlington and I would have had to hitch to Highgate. There were 2 of us who didn't have a ride to Highgate, the bus driver got on the CB and started talking to people asking if anyone going to Highgate had room. The bus driver found an RV that had room and we pulled over at a rest area and we got a ride to Highgate. There are some really kind people in VT and we paid $20 a vehicle to camp on a farm for 3 days. This venue was the kindest on the East Coast.

gotta ask, anybody else hear, "one more Saturday nite", cause I did. not on the set list. never talked to anyone else who did, but I know I DID. like I say, though, long day. got there before daylight partied Haaard all day. did the show. then rode home to danville at 0430 in the back of carls truck(froze my arse off). got home, packed up the bike and headed to Laconia for bike week. all I remember about that ride was breath freezing on my face and the dancing red tail lights in front of me. got to the campground, set up the tent, and woke up the next morning with only my head and shoulders inside. they tell me that's as far as I could crawl, and that's where I woke up the next morning. that week was definitely one,"long strange Trip". did have a blast at both the show and bike week, though. but I can still hear "one more saturday nite" like it was yesterday, regardless if anyone else did
