Week of December 7, 2009
Interview: Evy McPherson discusses the works of her late husband, the underappreciated Bay Area musician Jim McPherson, who worked with Mickey Hart and many others.
Writer and archivist Alec Palao has this to say about McPherson:
Long before Copperhead, before “Jane” - as leader of his fledgling mid-60s combos the Trolls and Stained Glass, Jim McPherson was already a brilliant square peg in the predictable round hole of pop: a willful eclectic-eccentric who espoused off-beat wordplay and twisting-turning melody and anchored it all with a soulful groove. Nobody else like him 'round these parts...
Enjoy!
