I loved the way the animals added to the show with sounds. The China Doll was something else. I can still remember the way I felt standing there listening to that song...had a hard time getting home...came out of the show to a flat tire and a dead spare.....

This was my third show in four days of my first GD experience. With a little help from my new friends I got a ticket. I was a little burnt out from the night before so I was pretty mellow. Started hitching after the show and was picked up by an older woman (I was 20) and her biker friend. I was trying to get back to Fayetteville Arkansas and regroup. I sleep in the van and woke up in Tulsa. She let me stay at her house, took me out to breakfast the next morning, then took out to the Highway so I could hitch on to Fayettenam. Got A ride immediately and made it home. Couldn't wait for my next show. It was a mellower time back then and the camaraderie and kindness of those fellow Dead Heads has stuck with me all these years.

I'm pretty sure this is the show where Bobby sang that line during around and around. The Dead loved playing the Zoo. It was a small venue and always so blazing hot, the guitars wouldn't stay in tune. They played there once on Jerry's birthday when it was even hotter than July. This was one of my weirdest Dead trips ever. I was living in Atlanta. On the day of the show, I was planning to fly to my home town, Tulsa, and make the 2 hour drive to OKC with my best friends. Well, the plane had mechanical problems, and was so late I was going to miss the show. I got Eastern airlines to take me off the plane, put me in a pickup truck and drive me across the tarmac to another plane going straight to OKC. Somehow, in the days before Cell phones, I was able to call my friends and have them pick me up at the Oklahoma City Airport. They dropped me off there after rhe show and I was back at work the next day.
