    Dynamic pricing... really? How nice
Yikes.. The Official Platinum seats dynamic pricing thing is really rude. Dynamic pricing.. got to love it. Set a fixed tier of prices for your tickets!! Fight scalping by fighting scalping, not by becoming scalpers. Lottery for example.. remember Santa Clara, fans got tickets, secondary market was controlled by fans, tickets went for face value. Do not claim free market on this tactic... Free markets are transparent. How many of these platinum seats are being bought? For how much? Only you know that that is not fair. In a free market we would know as well as you what prices are being paid. The Amex presale is just a way to gauge demand so you can set your price. That feels predatory to me because it is. The ticket counter should be a place where all are equal, not an auction where the price changes moment by moment. The game being played this week is to see who bites at what price. I wish it was scalpers who were playing this cruel game with us, but it is the band themselves. I am sure plenty of New Yorkers are hungry for a show and I respect that. But the less of us who pay $700 today the same tickets will be at $500 tomorrow, and $400 on Thursday. The general idea of dynamic pricing is bad enough. But add the big data piece to it and it gets really gross. Ticketmaster for example knows who I am, they certainly know what shows I have gone to and what I have paid. They know where I live and can approximate my income based on that. They may have other data points as well, depending on how much it matters to them. I am using an amex card, have to, amex knows my income even better than just having an address. Perhaps the algorithm is something like.. Amex shows him with income of x, offer him tickets at price Y + 30 percent. How would I know what price others see ? I have enough experience to know a small amount of what they know. They know what you earn, they know what you have bought, particularly tickets, like any good scammer choosing a mark, they do their research. Our friends in the band have decided to go along with this dynamic pricing as a way to fight scalping, really there are other ways to fight evil without becoming evil. A fun game would be to see what type prices they offer. Me right now I see.. For Saturday Night Sec 118 7 19 - 20 2 US $650.00 Anyone else seeing higher or lower than that ? There is a chance that it is just strictly start high, move lower based on time approach. -- Tom

I agree, I was able to get Lock'n tickets no problem. I guess scalpers do not mess with festivals as much? I was foolish to think it would be easy. They added a second show. I will be in NYC anyhow for a phil show on Friday, if prices get reasonable I may grab some tickets. It has been a good year, I am not going to let one show bother me too much. Yeow !!!! -- Tom
