    I can not find the 1st GD…

I can not find the 1st GD show I attended anywhere in GD archives. No GD archive lists the same bands that I saw that night, as confirmed by the Sons archive which has the poster from that night:

<<Wednesday, December 31, 1969: '1969 New Years Eve 1970', Winterland 2000 Post Street at Steiner Street, San Francisco, California
The band was billed only as 'The Sons' on the poster printed for this show. Also on the bill: Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna. Lights by Brotherhood of Light. This show, from 8:00pm to 8:00am, was promoted by Bill Graham Presents In San Francisco.>>

    limited releases logic explained

Could you please explain the logic of "limited releases" as it applies to an "alternative" business model, such as the grateful dead" The "limited release" model is a concept taken from the good old music biznezz, in order to promote sales, keep prices high, and maintain collector value of limited products.
I "missed" the window for daves pick's 30, a rare release from the year 1970, the first show that I recorded 1/3/70. I was disappointed, but managed to get one on a record/cd selling site. I paid double, but I still saved $$$, as I do not want to purchase a "subscription" to the daves picks yearly releases, as I am primarily interested in obtaining music from the 1966-1970 period, and not many releases are from these years. I guess I could always buy a subscription, and then sell off the unwanted items on another site for a profit, which is what this concept does, encourages a "black market". I do not consider this to be "progressive" in the least. I would rather purchase through GDCORP, as I have in the past, but if GDCORP wants to encourage this type of atmosphere, I am forced to participate in order to get what I want, and I am grateful to the sellers who have made it possible to get what I want. But it sure seems contrary to what Jerry's idea of business was.

Hey there! I work for a Farm Craft Brewery in Virginia and we recently got accepted to have taps at the Lockn Music Festival this year. I have created a piece of art that combines our logo and labeling with a Stealie and would love to get it made into shirts for our team and possibly release a small barrel batch of bear grateful dead themed. We of course need right to use the Stealie and want to do things right! Could you please point us in the right direction of making this happen?!

I've been trying to figure this out for some time now and was wondering if anyone could help. In Hunter Seamons matrix soundboard recording for the Barton Hall Show - at the 7:07 mark, someone in the audience says something and it's hard to decipher what was said. Any thoughts, after giving a listen, would be greatly appreciated. It's on the Archive Site with a date of Jan 11, 2011. It almost sounds like "got it nice' but not sure.

    Hi Marye!
I hope you are well. Could you please point me in the right direction with regards to GDM and/or licensing of art work? I am particularly curious about the Summer 1995 Eyes of the World print by Richard Biffle.
Thank you so much for all the things you do!

Did you remove the My Shows section? Can't seem to find it and I sometimes like to refer to it when listening to the Grateful Dead Channel. Thanks!

Hey there Y'all -
My Daughter was sorting through my records lately and found two unusual records (seem to be from a radio broadcast in 1981 on the NBC young adults network). If these are of value to the archive I would be glad to send them to the right person.
Thanks

Hi! I am trying to ask for permission to use a line from Scarlet Begonias in my book to be published. Do you have any advice on who I need to contact to do so?

I would email Nicholas G. Meriwether via speccoll@library.ucsc.edu.

The Library at University of California, Santa Cruz has this website guide & other contact info for The Grateful Dead Archive @ UCSC Special Collections & Archives:

They still exist, but I don't think they're active. I think technology may have overtaken it all to some extent; it pretty much comes down to whether people still want to do things that way. It was fun to get those DVDs in the mail...

I have an idea for an art project and I am wondering where is the best place to ask for tape covers with hand written set lists and / or cool drawings that aren't being used. I would 100% pay for shipping.

Rock on!

I just got a notice on the 2020 Almanac being available and I downloaded it to my Apple Books. This got me thinking- I collected all my hard copies back in the day and would like to download and add the ones I see here going back to 2013. All of the available links go to 2020. Any way to access the Almanac Archive? Always Grateful for your help.

i have been enjoying the 30 days feature. Problem is i downloaded Ship of Fools and the album info was from some band 'Bennie K' and their picture. Anybody else experience this? Wondering what i did. I am so not tech savy.
Thanks

Fatdag101, Re: Parish's B-Day, maybe it's in his book, Home Before Daylight.

Max Wishbone, wouldn't get too worried about the false cover art. You'd probably have to re-tag the files yourself but I don't want to get too technical here.

Hi MaryE!
I was just going through the archives marking all my shows and am surprised not to see 9/24/94 included. I understand it was billed as Phil & Friends (and no drummers), but wasn't that just a sleight of hand,( a la Hampton VA Warlocks) under the radar ticket sales at the time? I worked at the Warfield/Fillmore at the time and was fortunate enough to purchase tickets. Amazing :)
Thanks for everything!

Does anyone know how many tickets were generally sold as "mailorder" tickets directly from the Dead? As a percentage of total tickets sold.

Specifically, I am trying to figure out how many mailiorder tickets there were sold for the last show on 7.9.95

Lastly does anyone have any idea of the value of a used stub (ticket was used and half missing).

It has the hollogram (sp?)dancing bear , Grateful Dead, and 2 security strips. I also have the "This darkness got to give" letter that was handed out at these last shows, after the Deer Creek debacle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings all. I was wondering how to contact the label to request permission to use some Dead music on my stream. Unsure if I even need to honestly based on their overall bootleg policy as a band. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi and hope all is well from Talagante, Chile.
I have a file on my hard drive and it has many MP3's that say in the detail section "Tapers section" these files go back many years to 2008. My question is. at one time did the "tapers section" allow downloads ? I ask because these files were with my "30 days of dead" and I don't want to make extra work for myself while organizing. Thanks very much. Joe

Yep, selections from Taper's Section were downloadable for a good while, maybe a couple years. In fact, it created a little hubbub when downloading was made more difficult. Back in the day the selections were a little more eclectic with single tracks sprinkled in with longer clips. Taper's Section has since moved to a pretty much 3 streamable segments per week joint for quite a few years now.

I am fairly confident i am in the wrong place to ask these questions, so here we go.
1.) How does one go about claiming a calendar won during the recent 30 days contest?
B.) Does there exist anywhere a studio recording of He's Gone?
3.) If you happen to be the woman spinning on the hill at Buckeye Lake in '94 wearing a white sundress, get a hold of
me please. Your name has unfortunately slipped my mind.

Does anyone know if the digi-packs that hold the CD's for the ALL MUSIC EDITION of this box set
(and for that matter, the box that holds the digi-packs and booklet) are the same bulky size as the
NON-ALL MUSIC EDITION, or are they possibly about the same size as a Dave's Picks CD that will fit
comfortably on my CD rack. It's hard to tell from the picture in the Store.
Love the collectable box sets, but I'm running out of room for bulky boxes, and would love to keep
my music on the shelf.
Thanks for any answers/Feedback > Goodnight

Shall we assume that All The Years Live is dead/caput? Seems to have been removed from the site as of 2/14/2021...

It’s larger than a normal CD, and as such won’t fit conveniently on a shelf with other CDs, definitely won’t fit on a CD rack. I don’t have my copy in front of me but if I had to ballpark it I would say it’s about 10”x10” square maybe. But it’s damn near tiny compared to the PNW box haha.
