    Dave’s Picks 36, shivers down the spine

    Absolutely love this. Have always loved good recordings with the audience— that was the live experience. The 80s were my years at the shows. Was never at an East Coast show, but this release strikes a nerve, bringing the back-of-the-neck and down-the-spine tingles experienced at the best Western state outdoor shows— some of life‘s greatest experiences. This has tightness and power, track after track, and for me the audience adds to the experience. It’s a big part of what the concerts were about. Dave, please, please, please— don’t let anyone convince you to negate the audience when the recordings present this type of clear and tuned in, on-the-spot participation. For me this is one of the most true to what-it- was -like-at- a-show recordings that resonate with my own in-the-midst-of-it experiences from back in the day. I sure hope Dave can pull off something like this with the wild and windswept early ‘80s Ventura shows when the band set sail into its not-gonna-fade-away second era and rocked the town. I’m a bit of a west coast summer tour snob, but am pleased to report these Hartford shows are as solid, powerful and consistent as any I’ve experienced. In someways more so. Twenty minutes into it and I was on my computer subscribing to the next four editions, and splurging for a gift set to send to a long lost friend who shared some of those wonderful times—OMG—decades ago. Although not a particularly abstract “psychedelic“ performance —an essence that doesn’t translate easily to tape—it sounds especially joyous. This is my idea of straight-ahead good ol’ ‘80’s Grateful Dead; an especially accessible dose of the-way-it-was tunes to pass to non-Heads without excuses, explanations or apologies. If there are more sets coming out like this, no way I want to miss a single one. This from someone who has not been real big on trying to resurrect the past and going on and on about the pros and cons of shows. These, for whatever reason, rekindled something I wasn’t sure I was going to feel again. Who can quite explain? That’s part of the Grateful Dead thing. No one’s trip is going to be the same as any others. But for me, this one rocks. Thank you thank you thank you. Can’t even believe I’m raving like this. Wonderful!

    FWIW I think the 3/26 show is far and away the better of the 2 shows on this release both in sound quality, band energy, and setlist. 3/27 feels and sounds like kind of a klunker IMHO.
    Edit: 3/27 does have the Cumberland going for it, but again I think the sound quality and energy on 3/26 is far better

    If he would have subscribed during the early bird period, he would have only paid $25 for a steaming pile of $H!T.

    I don't have mine yet so cannot comment.. but I had the tapes way back and liked them. The shows are getting mostly good reviews. It should not surprise us that shows from this period get released from time to time. The anticipation is starting to get to me.

    Every time I see a sloth, I think the character Flash on the movie Zootopia who worked at the DMV. Flash, flash, 100 yard dash.

    "Steaming pile"...disagree. It's not 6/10/73, granted. It's not the most intense, deeply OUT THERE, otherworldly GD release ever, but I find it to be a long way from a steaming pile o' stuff.

    Permits licensed service providers to administer psilocybin-producing mushroom and fungi products to individuals 21 years of age or older.

    Not sure what licensed service providers means.. the old and wise hippie shaman down the street or a licensed psychologist that would only prescribe under controlled / supervised conditions, etc.

    In any case, I am jealous.

    I had heard that Oregon decriminalized all illicit drugs Tuesday, but just now learned that in conjunction with that, they also legalized psychedelic mushrooms.

    And in Arizona, until Tuesday, it apparently was a felony to possess marijuana; it no longer is.

Urdu is a language predominantly spoken by muslims whose holy day is Friday. I don't know for sure but I suspect this could have a detrimental impact on Black Friday shopping sprees.

Great prices, be sure to read the fine print though.. shipping from Rawalpindi and Islamabad can be a real budget breaker.

Give these folks some credit for understanding and leveraging a deadheads strong passion for cleanliness and personal hygiene. Marketing geniuses to be sure, once they figure out the subtleties of matching the countries they advertise in with the languages commonly spoken in these countries, they are sure to dominate the global automatic bathroom market. Business tycoons in the making and a great stock tip to help your 401k, you heard it first here at dead.net, watch and learn Jim Cramer.

What's the best show to listen to when contemplating the finer points of bathroom automation? Binghamton perhaps, a little over an hours drive from Bath NY. Four shows played in Binghamton from 1970 to 1983.

Speaking of automated toilets...in many of the mansions we work in there are automatic toilets, some costing thousands of dollars. The GCs generally don’t let us riffraff use the toilets, especially the expensive automated ones. So my old working partner had this thing about poaching toilets, especially if specifically told not to do so lol.
He became quite adept at it including the use of let’s say the worlds greatest female skiers master bath LOL (can’t name names due to NDAs etc)

Has anyone else gotten their copy of GarciaLive 15? I got mine about a week ago. Someone asked how I got so soon, no idea. Then today I got an email say it will mailed in 9 day!?!?! Odd?

Update on the download front for AB - Angel Share. Still no word!

BTW - Garcia Live 15 is alright. The Keystone Korner Jam was very nice. Has Martin Fierro on sax on several cuts, I always enjoy when he sits in.

If I don't type again till after Bird-Day, hope everyone has a good one. Got 25 lbs of young tom waiting to be rubbed and baked, followed by a good basting and baking of said cook.

Funny you mention about Garcia 15, I was wondering the same thing. I’m glad you got yours. Nothing here, but tracking said mine just left New Jersey, and as I’m in the Toronto area, it will sit at customs until it is Garcia 17. Looking forward to it, the two tunes I’ve heard were incredible. The Garcia family has done a great job on this series, offering up stellar shows (but I liked the Pure Jerry series too)!

Hi All,

Still no DP36 for me in California. I have contacted the customer service twice and they said they would get something shipped out from warehouse, but it has been almost two weeks and no notice of a new shipment. This one hasn't gone down well for me.

Does anyone know if there is still a Dr Rhino? Can someone share contact email for Dr Rhino?
Feeling like that is the next step. Customer service calls don't seem to be getting me anywhere.

Did other people who were still waiting a week or two ago in US get their cds ?

U.S.P.S. tracking had my Dav36 on 10/30 at a post office in The Bronx N.Y. -- where I live. And then. . .. nothing for weeks! No information was updated during those weeks. It finally arrived 11/17 without a delivery notification email alert. I see you are in California and Daves are routed through Carlsbad Ca. Go figure? Good luck!

At some point Thanksgiving morning, our boys now always ask about when we're going to listen to Alice's Restaurant. Makes me proud.

Here in the Twin Cities we have a group of musicians who re-create most of The Last Waltz live each year. They dress up and do all the stage banter and it's great fun. They used to do it Thanksgiving weekend, but more recently they've moved it to other times of the year, when folks aren't out of town.

Contacted the store about three times now with the same automated response after they had to replace my original order. If I ever see the light of day with this package that would make my year but seriously just so disappointing to see this from Warner Music >:(. Otherwise, very grateful for everything and everyone on here, y'all rock! :)
