"What fans heard in these four {Lyceum} shows was both a history of the Dead and a survey of their unique vision of American music, from folk to rock, with blues and R&B and country-and-western and Bakersfield all included, all melded together by the improvisational spirit of American jazz in a small-group format that owed much to European classical music.
The repertoire made a statement: this is who we are. And while that honored their roots and surveyed their history and evolution, the overwhelming focus was on the present. At the Lyceum, showgoers heard a tapestry of music that knit together the disparate strands of the ’60s psychedelic baroque of AOXOMOXOA and LIVE/DEAD with the Americana turn epitomized by WORKINGMAN’S DEAD and AMERICAN BEAUTY, which in many ways both continued and culminated in Skull and Roses. English fans were especially delighted to hear the new songs — for fans accustomed to bands using concerts to promote their records, that kind of generosity was striking. Those songs showed a band that was consolidating and deepening its distinctive approach to American vernacular music while still expanding the range of what that could include. Pigpen’s two originals added a distinctive flourish, but the new tunes also made it clear that Weir had emerged in his own right as a singer and songwriter, as well as showing that the wellsprings that fed Garcia and Hunter’s music were drawing on ever deeper aquifers." - Nicholas Meriwether
Imagine, if you will, being amongst the first to witness the merry band of misfits that had taken over the good ol' U.S. of A. conquer foreign lands. When the Grateful Dead first unleashed their magic on the cautiously optimistic patrons of Wembley on 4/7/72 and 4/8/72, it was with the idea they would have just these two nights to impress a traditionally reserved London crowd. It turned out to be a smashing success, and they set about locking in four dates at one of London’s most storied venues, the Lyceum Theatre, to wrap up what some consider one of the greatest tours in rock history.
On these four nights, we find the band hell-bent on telling 'em "how it's gonna be," and boy, did they ever. Powered by what Jerry called "peak optimism," they delivered a steady dose of "primal Dead," - sometimes searing, sometimes soulful, sometimes serious, but always unwavering in focus. This willful determination moved them through transitive takes on "Dark Star," to majestic heights with "The Other One," through marathon runs of "Playing," another minute, another mile. It found Phil, philosophizing on how to "put our music into a place," Bob and Jerry masterfully dueling as two of the top songwriters of their time, Bill elegantly ferrying songs to new lengths, and new members Keith and Donna Jean Godchaux adding organic warmth. And Pigpen? Well, he dotted his beloved classics - "Good Lovin'," "Mr. Charlie," "Lovelight," "Two Souls In Communion" - through set after set, conjuring up more clarity and charisma than anyone would have expected for his final few shows.

download no work.....
Figure i have to dumb this down for the folks at Rhino/Dead.
- people push button to download
- people get error
- downloads no work
Why downloads no work? HDTracks downloads work. Qobuz downloads work. Nugs.net downloads work. Wait....everyone's downloads work but...........
Rhino's downloads don't - why Rhino's downloads never work? If had downloads, would not be writing comment on silly site.
Hey look - Bruce Springsteen released a new show on nugs.net
nugs.net/live-download-of-bruce-springsteen-brendan-byrne-arena-east-rutherford-nj-08-19-1984-mp3-flac-or-online-music-streaming
Why Bruce Springsteen downloads work, but not Grateful Dead downloads? Are you saying the boss is more important than Jerry?
Another day without my downloads

5/26 download successful
I was able to get 5/26 by looking up order at store. There are 4 buttons that say "Download" seemingly 1 button for each show, however all 4 buttons are in fact the same l!nk. That l!nk gets 5/26 and I am listening to 'Loser' as I write this. The first 3 shows are still unavailable.
Audiophile jargon is not my forte but I can tell you they are 16 bit FWIW.
5/26 in 16 bit
These are not the downloads you're looking for....
Ya know - we should have our own seaside chat with Dave, and explain to him that getting the shows he raves about is just as important as how good he thinks they sound.
Why accept 16 bit?
These are the same shows that have been available since 2011. Same mastering. Same quality. Same Plangent Process. Same bit rate! 7digital started selling the digital version in 2014 or so. Now that 5/26 has been shown to be 16 bit, why in the world would anyone want these? If I were a buyer, I would be demanding my money back.
Was only able to download 5/26
Was only able to download 5/26. Also there is dead air for "Trucking" from 7:30 - 14 minutes into song.
10 DAYS IN
10 days in and I've got 1 show at 16/44 resolution. There really isn't any end in sight, and haven't received the email with a code for a new download from dead.net that I was promised by support
Report it to the Better Business Bureau too
At the bottom of the store website there is a BBB ‘Accredited Business’ logo.
Rhino doesn’t deserve the accreditation.
Dead Air
The May 26 show I was able to download also has six and half minutes of dead air. Frustrating for something that's been released a couple of times before - and right in middle of Truckin'! I have to say the rest of the show sounds incredible.
Dead air also seems to be a theme from support as well. It's obvious they aren't working weekends to get us a fix sooner.
Still hopeful, but the hope is slipping away fast.
What year is it again?
10 Days and Counting
OK it has been 10 days now and still the only show that is downloadable is the 05/26/22 show. And based on comments here there are issues with that. It is time to refund everyone who has ordered this, then you should fix it and then allow people to buy it. Make this right.
At this point you are taking advantage of the most loyal music fan base in the world.
It is obvious that there is…
It is obvious that there is no advantage (and many disadvantages) to pre-ordering any downloads from dead.net. I can't recall a single instance where everything went perfectly on day 1 (although it is possible that it may have happened once or twice) but this latest debacle has to be the worst ever.
The Eleven(th) Day
Hard to believe we have reached day 11 without this fixed. It’s clear this is the worst download debacle to date. Bravo!
For Sale Still
Not only is thing not working for us saps who bought it and can’t get an update as to when it will be fixed, but they are still selling this to unsuspecting people knowing it is broke. Really guys???????
Pull your payments back
Pull them back if you haven't. Call your CC companies. Cancel PayPal payments. That speaks louder than forum words. If it is done en masse, it will be a lesson they won't forget.
And don't re-buy. There really is NO VALUE in this set to begin with. Go to 7digital or Qobuz and get the exact same thing there. Been available since 2014. There's been no work done on these shows. They are trying to get people to fund the production of the MSG box.
Thanks Randall...
I did not know about those websites. I bought all the Dick's Picks back when they were new and we actually played CDs so some of them got scratched a little and some tracks skip. I've always wished I could just replace those tracks and it looks like I can do that from qobuz. Right on, now I just have to go through and listen to them all and figure out which tracks I need. That's my kind of chore!
Love the lack of updates on this, DO NOT BUY!!!!! DOES NOT WORK!
Ok... We have all be very patient, many of us have been through this before with digital pre-orders but come on! What gives? No updates other than an email several days ago saying it has been resolved, oh and here is a coupon to spend more money on stuff we won't deliver on? COME ON! Where is the update guys? I work in IT, I would never get away with something like this with my clients!
Any more communication?
Since we had the email saying it had been resolved has anybody actually being able to have any further communication with dead.net or are they ignoring all of us now?
A Tale of Two Formats
I ordered the vinyl box and was planning to order the flac downloads so that I didn't wear the vinyl out and also had some portability. I received the vinyl box on time and it is exceptional. Just a masterful job and the sound is outstanding. Meanwhile, on the download side, a total mess. Don't know why we can't get one person from dead.net or Rhino to respond and clarify three simple questions: 1). When will the downloads be available; 2) what digital format will they be in - cd quality or hi-resolution; and 3) assuming they are just CD quality, are these the exact same versions as were included in the Europe box set a decade ago or have they been improved like the the 50th anniversary Europe '72 was - I purchased that off of HDTracks and it sounded fantastic.
Please - not expecting you to fix anything - just respond on this forum. Surely you monitor it. Communicate.
A Tale of Two Formats
Amen to that John64! Exactly the questions they need to answer. And for that matter, for those of us who dropped $550 on the Vinyl box, the hi-res Flac downloads should have been included as part of the package. Greed.
Day 15: The incompetence continues
Here we are, two weeks out from the release date, and still no resolution or any definite information about when a resolution might happen. The incompetence and disrespect for customers is astounding.
perhaps emailing DrRhino or…
perhaps emailing DrRhino or David Lemieux with this comment would help?
Revenue for future releases
I WANT to give dead net my money so they have the revenue stream for more releases. I WANT to purchase through dead net to cut out any third party taking a cut. I have the E72 trunk but would shell out if these were 24 bit files. However, how can anyone buy the downloads when they've blown the trust and can't deliver? I guess you can't always get what you want.
David Lemieux
I think I heard a rumor they canned David Lemieux and are getting Alex Jones to represent all the new releases based on his superior integrity and credibility compared to what we have now.
Just in Case TPTB are Keeping Track
I was going to buy this download, but have decided not to, based on all the problems people are reporting in the comments here. I'm guessing I'm probably not the only one.
Credit Cards
Well it has been two weeks, no fix, all downloads are still the same 05/26 show. No communication from anyone on this.
For those who contacted your banks and credit card companies, what did you tell them and did you get you money back?
HIT HIS PAGE.
I just hit Lemieux's FB page. All you purchasers ought to as well. Flood it with discontent and disappointment. It's easy enough to find. Just find one of his shill posts and flood the comments section. Don't just sit there and take it and wait.
Lemieux……….
Lemieux needs to know what people are going through. It’s not OK
Lemieux II
Then hit his shill FB page. All of you. The release is a rip-off to begin with. Nevertheless, get on his FB page and let it fly.
Opened case with PayPal
Ever since my credit card info got stolen and misused because of WEA, I don't trust them with CC info and only pay with PayPal. I have begun the process of seeking a refund but PayPal won't do that without first initiating a dialogue between buyer and seller. Perhaps coming at this from a sharper angle may light a fire, we shall see.
Figures
NO ONE has posted their discontent on Lemieux's FB page. Well, I have and I didn't even buy this fraud. It's no wonder you all get taken advantage of and played for clownish buffoons.
Are you afraid LeMew will come to your house and have a front lawn chat with you?
Get your asses over to his page and say something or forever be known as the passive hippie wannabee's most music fans know you are. Where is your great 1960's revolutionary spirit now? If you don't even try, you sort of deserve what you are getting at this point.
Maybe the "nice" folks at Rhino can help.....

At this point its really not right - these downloads should be handled by real professionals like HDTracks or Qobuz. We need to let these guys know that if they want to stay in business they should treat their customers better.
Why are people going after…
Why are people going after Lemieux? He has nothing to do with the production side. He is involved in picking music and working with the engineers. The situation sucks but hassling someone who isn’t involved in getting the music to the people is misguided anger.
Hi Def Digital Download of the 4 Lyceum shows is all messed up.
For $99.89 I purchased the hi-def download of the 4 Lyceum '72 shows. My order had 4 download buttons on it. I pushed them all thinking I would get 4 shows. Hah! All 4 downloads combined into a single folder, and it was a 44.1 download from 5-26-72. How are they going to make this right?
It’s not Dave’s fault
But he does need to know that things aren’t right.
He is the archivist and the face of the releases/seaside chats.
But who is his employer, WMG/Rhino or GD, inc.?
GD has a contract with WMG/Rhino to vault the recordings (please don’t screw up like Universal Music) and put out releases, and Dave selects releases, but Dave may actually work for GD and not have a lot of control over what goes on at WMG/Rhino.
What are people supposed to do?
It may not be Dave's fault. But it IS his face behind all things Grateful Dead - and it has been for years.
Get a Refund
After getting nowhere and not realizing others had this same problem with this download release, I requested that my order be cancelled and a full refund be issued. I was told by customer service that my order was cancelled, that I would get a refund, and I was provided with a code for 10% off my next purchase from the dead.net store, which I will use to repurchase this product once they get their poop in a pile and have all four shows instead of only the penultimate show. Not a happy experience, but I encourage others to ask for the same remedy, which if enough people do, will force them to fix this issue.
Never used the message board…
Never used the message board or had a need to create an account until now. Thanks for the advice and messages. I thought it was just me. I will contact customer service and get a refund
The latest from “customer service”
Just got this in response to a second request for update on the download cluster:

We will prioritize your ticket and follow up with your as soon as possible.
