Since it was 1977 and I was
Since it was 1977 and I was going to Andover, I only got to see Saturday night shows on the Spring tour, but this was my 6th show ever and third in 1977. It's funny because I always liked the 4/23 and 4/30 shows more back then, but this one got so popular later with the release of the Betty Boards. I admit that I LOVE this one over the last decade with a near perfect first set (Half Step->Big River is heaven) and the second set was beautiful is well as well, especially the three Jerry songs in a row.
My first Dead show, and what
My first Dead show, and what a beauty. I, too, came in to Boston from Andover and was blown away by the set list and the energy. I listen to it all the time.
Imagine my surprise as I surf to this page and find that the only other post is from fellow Andoverite and tape-sharer Dave Davis! Dave, if you read this, drop a line! -- Woody (Peter Warren)
Mine, too.
Hello Dave and Woody - The Andover campus must have been a lonely place that night because I was at the Garden, too. Went with a large crew riding "Mescalito." Quite the trip as you can imagine. We all shacked in the Essex Hotel across from South Station after the show and a particularly enthusiastic gang of freaks went onto the roof and climbed the scaffolding supporting the hotel's neon sign. There was an easy wind blowing eleven stories high that night and the view of Boston through the glow of red neon is not a sight I will ever forget. They opened that night with Promised Land. Sure felt like I had arrived.

another PA-er on that particular bus
My (Nick Gutfreund's) first show too. Hadn't been a fan...but the middle of the 2nd set converted me on the spot. I remember going with a large crew that night...just not sure who was there ;).
Dead brain cells
Have absolutely no recollection of the show but I still have my stub so I must have been there LOL!!!

Great Show
The Green line trip back up the Hill to BU was mighty WEIRD!!!! (but very FUN!!)
Billy K's 31st Birthday
Nice openings to both sets - Bertha, Cassidy, Deal, Jack Straw. Wow
PRESS INQUIRY: Grateful Dead releases 1977 Boston Garden show
Hi! I'm a journalism student at Boston University and I'm working on a piece about the Grateful Dead's Record Store Day release of their 5/7/1977 concert at the old Boston Garden. If you were there, I'd love to speak to you. Feel free to shoot me an email at samtrottenberg@gmail.com. Thanks! - Sam
