    Doh!....

....so I bought Widespread Panic tix for March 4th. Flaming Lips just announced their tour. Guess what night they are playing here? March 4th. Love both bands and now I'm torn. Widespread is playing three night though. What to do? What to do.
And no. I did not insure my WP ticket.

Dooood, I've been to England, long enough ago to maintain the fiction that Brits are well-behaved (I have the same fantasy about Canadians), while the soccer rioter and pre-drinking news etc. slowly seeps in. But the sort of behavior you describe would nix my attendance. I just wouldn't be able to stand it. To be fair, here in Colorado, it is not rare for people to talk constantly through a set, hold their effin' phones aloft (because if you don't have lots of worthless 90-second videos, the show never happened) and the usual rude pushing to the front after the early, easy-going arrivals are all in place.

My personal etiquette is: never talk during songs or if one must, keep it low and discreet, as in "See ya in a moment, gotta hit the loo. Can I bring you a beer?" Also, I cannot hear conversation with loud music. Just chat between numbers. If someone taps me on the shoulder and asks nicely for me to sit down, apologize, smile and sit down. It's okay to let out an occasional yelp in appreciation of the music peaking, but don't be a tape-ruiner. And if you needed your phone to hook up with friends at the show, hook up and put the friggin' electronics away.

Speaking of which, as much as I respect tapers, they can be the worst. Went to a Phil show in Denver years ago and got a nice spot with my peeps. Just before showtime, three pricks show up, push in front of us, set up 7-ft high mic stands, asked for more room and shushed us as the show began. We just shook our heads, but the 75-year-old ex-Marine with me wanted to crack some skulls. So, do we deliver justice and get thrown out or acquiesce and ensure it never happens again? We took option B. But those chumps thought they were divinity, as they were getting front-of-soundboard recordings, while the soundboard had its designated taper section all set up behind us.

Rant over! (But still mumbling to myself...)

Hey Oro! Que pasa? Hope you got the new Jimi live in LA April '69 show. If not, let me know...............

Saw my first JGB show on 11/1/81 in a very small gymnasium.
the stage was only a foot or 2 high.
For the first set we sat on the floor at Jerry’s feet so close I could have shook his mic stand.
But folks behind us, basically the rest of the crowd, for some reason didn’t like that we were sitting?
So after a set of BS from these folks, we stood up for the second set.
So now the folks behind us that could previously see over us, now had to stare at the back of several six foot plus dudes heads.

Not standing on my hair when I'm lying down for one. Not that I do that now, of course, or have that amount of hair that could be stood on if I did.
HF - I imagine you enhancing a gig rather than being a nuisance. What I don't like is very different to what you're talking about. At medium size gigs in England, you often get groups of lads spending hours in the bar drinking, before pushing their way to the front of the stage minutes before the main band comes on. Pint of beer in one hand, mobile phone in the other. Having secured a place at the front they then seem to go into an epileptic fit during the fast numbers and talk loudly over the quiet ones. I'm much happier buying a ticket for a seat in a theater or a club to see bands now. I haven't been to a festival-open air, since about the year 2000.

I take pride in being one person standing among 10,000 sitting and being nowwhere in 'that woman's' sight line. It was having fun that was wrong. Nothing wrong with sitting for a show if that's what you like, it's just that in a rockin' joint without seats, some will stand. Would I do that in a theater? No. Y'all got it right, which is, how does the environment work into the equation? Even at the Rocks I talk to the people behind me and accommodate as needed, because I'm tall. Also, read the crowd -- is it 'up' or 'down.' So, no 'correct' answer there, but 'yes' to consideration of the neighbors.

Hats off to Daverock for "short-haired herberts" knocking about in neo-punk days. I had a whirling dervish behind me at a Dr. John show (guest: Henry Butler, post-Katrina) and this kid kept slamming into me. I had to give him a brief talking to. He seemed mystified -- wasn't I having a good time? (Not with him bashing into me, I explained carefully, using 'the look.')

So, in honor of incoming 2023, when we got to the front of the stage Friday afternoon at Watkins Glen, we stretched out our sleeping bags, rested our heads on one-gallon jugs of cool water, and caught the The ABB, The Band, then a two-hour GD show, mostly lying down, looking up at the boys like we were on a couch in the living room. Absolutely by far the most 'laid' back GD experience ever. For me. Only time I caught a real show lying down. (By that time there were 100,000+ in the crowd and -- crickey! -- some were standing up. Ef 'em...

    Greetings All.

I wonder if anyone here might be able to direct me to where my question might be best posted, or perhaps, to an answer. I would like to know if anyone has knowledge of where I might find an entire list of all the Grateful Dead show played that is available in an excel spreadsheet, or something like that.

I am familiar with entire listings of shows and websites that contain all of the information I am looking for. What I am looking for is something that is already available in a table format or a spreadsheet. If not, then I guess I can work on one and then share it.

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Thank you for all of your music commentary and general positivity.

    Have a beautiful day.

I wish you called the cops, that's assault and battery and with a concealed weapon probably aggrevated assault. If you're over 65 you're in a protected class. Did it bruise where he grabbed you? Aggrevated assault. It was a politically motivated incident so that's a hate crime as well. You could have put that guy in jail and made headlines against the cheeto.

Not from 73.

Unless, unless, unless,
DaP46 w/ bonus, the bonus discs with the 50th studio albums, and the Box, all combine for an even larger Box.

as to DP 46 that is. The suggestions might be generalized as clustering around '72-'74, but Billy the Kidd really rang the carnival bell with a bold and near-and-dear to my heart '68, hedged with '69-'70.

I'd just say that they're running low on '74 show tapes; there are a finite (but recently increased) number of '68 tapes; and yes, will they go with or avoid synergy between a Dave's and the annual box.

Six-show boxes seem to be a thing. How far will they go tying 2023 to 1973? You know they're gonna do a 50th Wake of the Flood, the question there is how closely will they tie the bonus live material? Especially given the question of whether they feel the box has to tie in to the 50th as well. And still leave something in the vault for the future. I can't get my mind around the fact that the PNW box came out five years ago.

My gawd! Jim -- did you throw that lever in the Wayback Machine marked "DO NOT THROW THIS LEVER!!" ???

One door opens in front of me, a thousand close behind. Every step is a new world. Either that or I'm doing a bad imitation of Forensic Doc's zen koans!!

Somebody HEP ME!!! (Oh no, now I'm thinking the final scene in the original "The Fly"!!!!!!!!)

Actually, I jumped on the forum to post that DP 44 is a fun show and the band seems in fine fettle, especially Jer. Not happy with Phil's zooming on bass -- seems lazy and unmusical. Nor does thunder help LLR. Otherwise this sucker rocks! Pleased, for a '90. (Now "The Fly" has been replaced by an insatiable urge for a "90 Shilling"... Jim! Smash the glass! Throw the freakin' lever! Ignore all warnings!

Ah, folks, this has been a trying day. Time for a puff, a shot, a Spaten Munich lager and an electric guitar. [Camera fades to black as protagonist fades into couch..................]

Nobody deserves that Vguy and your response was more courageous than I think I would have managed. And definitely not judging you, just saying, this guy you encountered sounded like he had a screw loose. And honestly I get mad to think he feels he owns the street like that or in this case a grocery store. Maybe the next guy he sees wearing a Biden shirt or putting up a Dem sign gets worse than a grab to the arm.

I feel like DaP 46 has to be something in the 68-74 range. Now I know that is very broad. Maybe it will be some of those September 1970 shows? Or something else from that year? Maybe Dave will dip into 1968. I just feel like that one will be something from that time period that we have wanted for a long while.

I think Wake of the Flood will get a companion 1973 show attached to its 50th anniversary release (how about 2/15/73, one of my favorites?)

Bear's Choice also has it's 50th anniversary so that might be the one that gives more 1970 show(s). They could fill out more from the February Fillmore East run but I am fine if they change course and go with a 1970 show from later in the year. As long we get a heavy dose of Pigpen, as Bear's Choice was for him, well I am good.

If the 2023 box is from 1973, I can easily see 6/9, 6/10. 7/27, and 7/28 being the shows that make up the bulk of it. However, I am not opposed if Dave went in a different direction for a 1973 box as well.

Finally, I am calling this now: For either DaP 47 or 48 Dave and CO will finally give us a summer of 1985 show, maybe 2 even shows for another 4 disc release.

Seeing the movie last week got me all riled up for all things '72...I started working for the Cal Forestry mid January '72...I was about 30 miles north of Weott CA on Ave Of The Giants...about two months later I was moved to a forestry camp outside of San Luis Obispo on the road to Morro Bay...I took a leave of absence for three weeks in June...why? Cuz I needed to see the Rolling Stones at The Long Beach Arena, Dead at the Hollywood Bowl and follow that up with Zeppelin again at Long Beach...spent the rest of the Summer driving back and forth between our SLO camp and a spike camp we had in Big Sur...harsh job, que no? that September a friend of mine and I took a train to LA from SLO to see two Dead shows at The Hollywood Palladium....had to miss Pink Floyd at the Bowl doing Dark Side though...come December I went home to visit familia for Christmas, eat tamales and see the Dead at Long Beach...yes yes yes....I think I was the youngest at the movie meet up last week, about 20 of us all told, the 1:00 PM showing...

Happy Name Day NappyRags! Hope you enjoy the next trip around the sun and many more to come.

So today is a show day for me, as is this Friday - going to see my first ever live Goose show in Portland Maine tonight; they are sharing the bill with The Trey Anastasio Band, each doing a 90 minute set with flip flops and mashups expected. Goose vaulted onto my radar over the summer, when Trey sat in with them at Radio City for one set in late June. I was fixated. I had seen them perform at the 420 Festival earlier this spring, as well as at Boston calling later in May, but they didn't really resonate fully until my strict attention had been applied. What a rabbit hole this has been and am looking forward to some new experiences and live grooves. And interesting switch-a-roos of the teams.

I'm enjoying Dave's 44 immensely, given this show was right in the wheelhouse of my first show in Buffalo less than a month later. That sweet & drippy Eyes to open the 2nd is like a warm blanket.

Be Well People!

Sorry about the lunatic, I'm not here to talk politics, but when someone can't even handle someone wearing a shirt you don't like, he might want to re-consider his "values" and consider some sort of cult intervention. I've got this GRATE shirt, it says "Will you shut up, man? - Biden 2020" Gotten some dirty looks (grow up snowflakes) but nothing physical. If I feel something like that could go down I reach for the phone and put the camera on video immediately. Wear it with pride bro!

Tracking info says it arrived in town 12 days ago and still not out for delivery. I guess if it had to be my turn with delivery issues, I’m OK with it being this release.

And for all of you who listened to my advice, not to get mixed up with bitcoin, you’re welcome.

Read 9 pages to see what happened. Completely unbelievable story Vguy72 but I guess I should not be surprised these days. Sorry for your scary episode. Like the other dude said, you should go back and file a report there has to be store video of it. You got off without him drawing on you, but someone else may not be so lucky. I can't recite the law the way that guy did but the way he used language with you like "our message" sounds like he was not just your average idiot voter. He sounds like he belongs to a group of idiot voters. Hearing you telling about his crazed eyes and beat red face. I really hope this guy isn't gonna snap somewhere else. Sounds like there's plenty of Biden shirts out there, so I don't know how much your theory holds up, but I want a Biden "will you shut up man shirt". Good one Burnsey.

And, I will say once again. That encounter was a blur. I didn't know what to think or how to react. I was caught off guard, but I think I handled it well. In fact. I know I did.
Seems I'm very approachable, for good or ill. I just try to smile at everyone I meet and look at them and make eye contact. Definitely not an introvert here because people (mostly) are awesome.
My job requires me to meet and greet several every day.
I forgot the cream cheese btw, but I wasn't about to go back in the store ha!
Random event that ended ok and I know the people around me had my back.
I just got a Phish Food tie-dye delivered today from Dry Goods.
I will wear it often and hope I don't make lactose intolerant people upset.
The Grateful Dead should put out a Cherry Garcia version. I'd buy it.
Mental health in this country needs to be addressed as well, but I digress.
Surround yourselves with people that are kind minded and you are already ahead of the curve. Peace.

I'd like to step up on my soapbox for a bit...On Nov 7, 2007 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Carcinoma...after surgery to remove my right kidney AND the best care anywhere I underwent Immunotherapy with the drug Interlukkin 2...within a few months of the process it seemed there was no growth in the tumors I had in my lungs and my Aortic lymph nodes...soon after that they were shrinking and within 2 years I was cancer free.....fifteen years later and here I am typing away...we have all been touched in way or the other with this foul illness and the main thing I want to say here is please please please get routine check ups etc...right now a dear friend of mine was told after his first colonoscopy that he had a malignant polyp which was removed and now he faces a few months of chemo, luckily just oral medications and he should be fine...BUT...he is 58 and if he would've done the colonoscopy at an earlier age it probably wouldn't have come to this...so please...get your regular check ups and make sure your loved ones do too...now...back to our regular nonsense...

Shrooms are not legal in CO, their decimalized, which is nice, but not quite the same thing.
The reason for the proposition was to make it legal for clinical therapeutic use for such things as traumatic PTSD, depression, alcohol addiction etc Research has shown special clinical use to have great positive results with these terrible afflictions, especially in the case of ex military folks etc.

Thanks for sharing your story Nappy. So sweet a gift to get that kind of response from treatment. Since we're on the subject of screenings just want to specifically point to another screening test that absolutely should be on your list guys if it isn't already - PSA (prostate-specific antigen). While not as black and white as to whether prostate cancer is actually present, the test is simple (blood draw), cheap, and a valuable tool for potentially catching the bad stuff earlier rather than later.

Just got home last night from some backcountry work in the land of Smokey the Bear down by Capitan, NM. DaP #44 #12767 quietly waiting in the PO Box. Saw these shows with my good girl (at that time and still a good friend), my first shows in the PNW, and it was everything that Dave says. What a great laid back easy groove weekend of excellent music. I look at pictures of the crowd and read the #s as to how many people and its sort of amazing cause it felt far more intimate than what those would seemingly indicate. Which brings me to the cover art - seems to me that the forest scene with the sun orb is actually taking place in Autzen itself, so a reflection of that whole more "cozy" and laid back atmosphere. Will set the time machine for a "deep forest" listen next few days (who knows, maybe even today!)

wow - surprised at how serious it is. just crazy to imagine having to put yourself into and through that space each time. and so many times in one's life. He mentions Jerry too. In 1982 Jerry played a show solo acoustic and it was so tough for him to be out there alone for that show (4/10/82 Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ) that he quickly brought in John Kahn to play bass for later acoustic gigs that spring and summer (and beyond). A little bit easier when there's somebody out there with you.

Great comeback story, Nappy, all the best to you. I might add that my father, who passed away in June at 93, had malignant cancer of the lymph nodes in 1974 and went the full-on surgical route, no chemo. Over the intervening 48 years he had various cancers crop up and, with EARLY DETECTION (nod to Nappy) he beat 'em all and lived longer than most of us will. So, early detection and immediate action and a lot of good luck and some will beat the Big C.

I myself am undergoing a self-colonoscopy later today using a cattle-prod and a miniature camera...... KIDDING!!! They've snipped out a few pre-cancerous polyps in the past, so I'm running on good luck.

My endoscopy is overdue (had to wait for Medicare to kick in) but I'm scheduled for Nov. 30 now.

For those of you who cannot stand this type of TMI in lieu of GD content, be patient. There will be some drug discussion now, then a teeny tiny tidbit on the GD at the end. Hang in there!

So, hats off to Oroborous for the malpropism of the day: "Shrooms are not legal in CO, their decimalized, which is nice, but not quite the same thing." In my case, I like a full dose, not a decimalized dose....

But Oro is correct: boomers have been decriminalized, not legalized. I think that means they can't bust ya for possession or use, maybe just selling? That's obviously a half-assed solution... cuz how would one obtain unless you cultivate your own? BUT decriminalization is always good, unless you're talking murder. As Oro pointed out, the sponsors of that ballot issue want folks with trauma and PTSD to have expert help in moving on through supervised therapy and this is a step in the right direction. The mere mention of "mescaline" in the ballot question gave me goose bumps. Mescaline is the very best, so I may need a little therapy... (Or, according to some (shut up Oro), I may need a LOT of therapy.

Never did get busted for psychedelics. On the other hand, I did face a handful of felonies for cultivation in the mid-80s and beat the rap. Had a massive Indica crop at 9000 feet on the New Mexico border. In the case of cannabis, legalization has been a mixed bag. Just prior to legalization, top shelf bud was $400/oz, and legalization cut that to ~$100-$125. Some writers have backups like carpentry or other intelligent money makers; my backup was always cultivating, so that hurt. But at least no one is going to do hard time for head stash. On the other hand, there are strict limits to possession and harsh penalties beyond that, which we don't need. But once you legalize and tax it, the revenuers want their share or you're going to the slammer. So, mixed bag, no pun intended.

Oh yeah, the GD: I read that Pigpen had bad stage fright and they'd have to find him, corral him and get him on stage. Once they got going, he said he was okay. With Bobby, I have little sympathy. I mean, no pain, no Jane, right? You want the fruits of being a rock star, you get your ass out there and make it look easy! Otherwise, no soup for you!

Ha, damn new math, oh wait, that’s not right, Damn spellcheck! It’s this damn spellcheck I tell ya, every FW update seems to make it worse, at least that’s my story and I’m sticking too it!
So I apologize Senior Schoolmarm for my incorrect spelling. Hopefully I can do some extra credit to fix my grade?
But, BUT! If your going to reprimand me with big grade ten words (ala Ricky in TPB) please use the proper spelling ; ) which according to the online dictionary is “Malapropism”, not Malpropism. Oh the irony LOL.
And yes, I had to look it up lol.

So no harm no foul as I’m assuming at least you, if not others, may have experienced joy and laughter from my gaffe!
Hey everybody has something in life their good at, apparently my new excellence is fucking up, which if it brings laughter is ok. I just wish it didn’t keep costing so much!
At least now I know a new word, which will give the Other One yet another way to rib me, especially when I start talking “Rickyisms” i.e., “it’s like getting 2 birds stoned at once” instead of killing 2 birds with one stone etc.
So thanks for giving her more tools, (like she needs any help lol) to prove me a fool, and point out my ongoing Malapropisms!

But hey, at least my intel was correct, so have fun out there but be careful!
oh yeah, don’t forget skin cancer screening too. Top C killer that unnecessarily takes too many folks out, that early screening could avoid etc. Which reminds me I haven’t….but really need to, cause damn near everyone here at altitude seems to have issues. I don’t even want to think about all those summers waaaayyy BITD when we went to the beach a lot and used oil to fry ourselves, idiots…

Senior Schoolmarm here, aka HF. And I like going commando!!!

Doooood, heh heh heh, I did see that I misspelled malapropism and decided to leave it just to TEST YOU. But I had not expected to get whacked over the head with "how ironic," which in Latin literally means "you are so effin' stupid!" But well played my man, well played.

Man, that one cat who couldn't stand our personal stories and demanded GD-talk is probably gonna need some of the psilocybin (sp??) therapy mighty soon.

So I'll just give my 2023 predictions here and now:
WotF 50th augmented by ... er, aren't all the '73 shows three-disks? Maybe Rhino would prefer a four-disc 50th? Maybe they have a shorter show fragment? I originally thought that the Watkins Glen soundcheck would be perfect, but that would run counter to a '73 box. So... [drumroll please] I'll state that if the box is '73, the WotF filler will not be the soundcheck. If the box is not '73, they're going with the soundcheck, one-disc addendum.

IF (and that's a big "if") the annual box is Summer '73 then they've gotta combine June 9 & 10, July 27 & 28 and July 31 & Aug 1. As June 9 and July 28 had a few non-stellar performances, say they cut a few songs or use the soundcheck with WotF and omit June 9 and July 28 and add two more '73 shows. See, there's the issue with a Summer '73 box: June 9 and July 28 may not stand up as full shows.

Maybe, as someone suggested, they do a 50th on Bear's Choice and break out all the Feb '70 FE material in the vault. (Three nights, two shows per night; how much do they have??)

And if they play those two albums to the hilt for '73 value, the box could be anything -- the '85 summer tour, which would save me beaucoup $$.

If Houdini was the greatest at extricating himself from multiple restraints, may I claim to be the greatest at tying myself in knots?

Signed, Senior Schoolmarm (going commando)

....I had to break out my slide rule and compass for that list.
VGK up 3-2 in Buffalo after two. Sabre fans booing Eichel every time he hits the ice. Love it.
Edit. Eichel scored. Whoo-boy. His celly
was awesome 😆
Edit edit. Eichel had a hat trick. Knights 13-2 and no signs of slowing down. Swept the road trip and coming back home.
