My first and only show with…

My first and only show with Jerry. I was 14. Saw Dylan the same month at the Paramount. These two events really set the trajectory for me. I remember seeing a teacher from my high school dancing crazy. The tunes were mostly new to me, except UJB. GOD DAMN well I declare indeed.

Yes it was the REX show. A
Yes it was the REX show. A few months after the show the paper had a column about how they found 3 or 4 charity's that said they received funds from the REX Foundation. They did more research and found 10 charities that received $10,000 each. But typical Dead fashion they weren't out for glory but just doing a good thing. That was my last show as well.

This Scarlet > Fire could easily be in the top 2 of all time. From my memory this show was really hot and the crowd was into it. It was my last show and it was a great show.

This was our last show and our childrens first and only show. drkstr001 is correct ~ it was a great show (what a setlist for a our last show). I remember the crowd when they went into Franklin's ~ the entire floor of the stadium dancing and moving as one ~ just like Wavy Gravy said "We must be in Heaven, man!!!" Long Days And Pleasant Nights

If I recall correctly, this was a REX benefit show. Yeah, it was a great one for a last - but then I can't think of a bad show in the years since my first in '72. Now I gotta fill in the years in between on my shows list. Fun site. Thanks all.

I agree, this was the best Scarlet/Fire I ever heard. Jerry was singing his heart out that night like I've never heard before. Stella blue-oo-oo. During Stella blue a flock of Canada geese rose up from behind the stage and flew over the entire stadium. My last show and I still feel chills writing about it.

This just a great show, no matter what year. Amazing "Fire" (with Jerry playing theremin, and singing great ending vocal ad-libs). And "Stella Blue" is stunning. Wish I'd been at this one. WOW.

My wife and I went to this show on my 44th birthday. It was the only time my birthday and a local Dead show converged. Sadly, it also turned out to be our last Dead show. We took along the teenage daughter of a friend. She'd heard about how magical Dead concerts were and wanted to experience one herself. Her mother said she could only go if she went with us, so that her daughter would have 'adult supervision'. My wife and I had a good laugh over that, but we played the part. We kept her out of trouble. Not that there was ever much trouble at any Dead show we ever attended. She had a great time. She danced like crazy. As for the show itself, my favorite moment was hearing Uncle John's Band one more time. My least favorite moment, and the only reason I gave this show a 4 instead of a 5, was the really boring space music. I usually loved Drums/Space at Dead concerts. This time they made weird atonal noises that turned everyone off. But this was our last Dead show and it was my birthday and most of the show was magnificent and a wonderful young girl got to hear the best music on the planet before it was too late. So it was a good day. It was a really good day.

Tearing up just thinking about it...Great show, Jerry was at his best and I remember after the show looking forward to the next year. My best friend still has his unused ticket to the Ohio show. My mother passed away that year and I got the news about Jerry on the way to my mothers funeral. Talk about a bad year!

I remember watching this show from a building side stage. One of my more creative efforts to see the band...great view. And a good show to boot... I'll never forget leaving the scene carrying my 18 month boy.... A line of horse mounted cops gingerly ushering us out of there.... Similar horse scene back at MSG '90 (very high)... Maybe I'm revising but I distinctly remember thinking...This could be the last time........RIP fat man thanks for the memories...

I was able to score a ticket to this show three hours before it started. I was living in Portland and a buddy of mine in Seattle got in touch with me. I'd just quit my job and was bumming I wasn't going to be at this show. When I got home from work there was a note with his phone number attached saying extra ticket; meet at gate at 5:30. I made it up in record time, got to the gate, we found some space on the floor, and the band was so tight and on fire for this one. The setlist was amazing, the playing was amazing, the skies were sunny and warm. The best show of '95 in my opinion. good times, good times.

Awesome Show!! The second and only time I had the opportunity to see Jerry Alive! I love the Band's music (on many individual band members' projects as well) and still attend shows on a faithful basis. I wore my black ring on my arm as I suspect we all mourned Jerry's Death. RIP My friends and I hit Rainbow Valley after this show, that was a freakin mess!!! Soo Much Fun!! Got down there and spent the first day trying to vend in the Pavement Lot and they wouldn't let us. The next day the parked us about 1 1/2 miles away on it felt like one of the hottest days in Portland I have felt, then they OPENED the pavement parking lot, finally. The School Bus w/Split Window on it's top and the drum circle next to it for hours was sweet. Meeting and Greeting people along with watching our Family walk by was splendid! Selling cheese sandwhiches with Lizard on the right side of the gate as hungry people were leaving was just as fun too...fun times in the day lot and at Shake Down Street as well! Driving back up to Seattle was fun. Saw a single stream of a cloud like a vapor trail from an airplane, but at the front of the cloud were two clouds completing a perfect arrow facing me due north on I-5, I thought that at that time that Jerry was pointing me home with my friends safely sound!!! The Gorge 2009 show was Sweet!!!!!

Man he ripped this version a new one. What a perfect day, perfect weather, green astroturf on the floor looking all wavy and rippled during the Scarlet->Fire to the sounds of Jerry's alien tone effects pedal. Probably the best all around show of the tour.

Had a ride from Gabriola Island up in BC, but my friends backed out so I took the ol' greyhound from Vancouver and arrived on the 25th. Tickets were still available and met up with friends who gave me shelter in their van. It was sunny and warm for May and Jerry was feeling as good as he probably did for that tour, and maybe the rest of it too. The 26th I stood in line to get good seats for my friends. mid way between soundboard and stage center. Opened with H->S->F and the intro to Franklin's tower went on forever, like Jerry just wanted to jam it out as long as possible. He was having fun and so were we. 2nd set speaks for itself. Jerry may have known the end was near and was trying to make the best of it. Who knows. After the show I stood for a while watching the stage break-down. and kinda knew it was the last time I'd see him. I remember that day clear as if it was yesterday. RIP Capt' Trips, I still miss you more than words can tell.
