you just gotta poke around
Shouldn’t have to poke around too long for today’s combo.
While it may not be written in fire across the heaven, with the correct resources it should be plain as black and white.
I hope everyone’s Saturday Night was Shakin’ as much as today’s offering.
Put on your rockin' shoes when you listen to these tunes.
Great Start
Another tap-in birdie.
Gonna be a good day! Dinner with my brother and buddy at Hofbräuhaus, then seeing Geddy Lee on his book tour.
Plain As Black and White
There must be danger at my door because this one was pure Easy St.
God I love Shakedown.
Some people want more cowbell. Man, just give me more wah! Whoever invented the Mutron effect deserves a Nobel prize. Whoever showed the Mutron to Jerry deserves my undying gratitude (or perhaps that should be "deceased" gratitude in this particular context...)
RE: Plain As Black and White
Yup, easy shakes again today. Unless I'm getting better at this??
Mouth of the Beast
My first thought on finding this was wow, a board recording that doesn't circulate! But the FOB recordings of this sound fantastic. Endless gratitude for the intrepid teams who captured these shows!
“Thank you for your kind appreciation”
What a tour! Gave this whole show a listen this morning…might have to give the entire week a spin! I marvel at those in attendance, I can’t even imagine…sounds like Jerry had too much to fast.
That only took a minute, man!
I was in school not too far from this venue and I can't remember why I didn't go. I had already seen the Dead twice in another venue in a nearby city so I was already on the bus. I would see them again at that venue five or so months later. But why I wasn't here on this day I just can't say why.
Just gotta Poke around
….every time I hear Shakedown Street, I think of 4/2/89. Tense times at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena and we were clueless. We heard the “riot buzz” during intermission. The band started smoking on Shakedown and this guy starts jumping around and “poking” everybody. The ugly look of a pummeling approaching, some girl finally approached him and peace prevailed. Next song Man Smart, Woman Smarter. I love rehashing those awesome times. Fun(gi)!
Wah-wow
And some rockin' keyboards toward the end and in OMSA. Somehow, before hearing this version of Shakedown and looking at the date, it never occurred to me that this was the Dead doing disco. But Jerry's wah-wah really shines, followed up with straight ahead rock-n'-roll. Yessir! Wish I could have gotten one of those other recordings to sync for a matrix; oh well.
About this concert - the attendees sure got a boost to their education!
SHAKEDOWN!!!
Yep, saw SHAKEDOWN STREET open the 1st & 2nd sets! Also saw SHAKEDOWN end the 1st set on NYE 89!!! I was in the taping section at that show! It was also my 1st DARK STAR!!!! My recording is on ARCHIVE under my taper name MILOCAMPO.
Lazy Sunday
Kind of easy pick (rare combo), would like to dig deeper on a Sunday. But instead I listened to a ripping AUD of this show and took a nice fall walk. Always like a Shakedown from this era, but this one limps in a little before getting to a nice funky jam. Let's go more 30DD!!
All out there
But I still have never heard this Shakedown. Thanks!
in familiar territory
I was there nice weather deadhead crowd -this show took place deep within GD territory. One year later the Allmans came in to the same venue . Forgot how good this shakedown was-wow!
