Anyone who has ever seen the Dead can testify that one of its shows will add quite a bit of color to the environment here at Stanford. Anyone who has not seen one of these spectacles should have the opportunity to do so. The Grateful Dead are an important part of the Bay Area's cultural history. Those of us who saw them last week can testify that the Dead are alive and well. The Concert Network would be hard-pressed to find an act which would bring Frost Amphitheatre to life as the Dead would. - The Stanford Daily

As you know by now, we'd certainly have voted aye on this motion, so much so, that we've loaded up DAVE'S PICKS 49 with not one, but two complete Grateful Dead shows from the Frost Amphitheatre, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA 4/27/85 and 4/28/85. The first shows from '85 in the series, these back-to-back hometown performances couldn't be more different while delivering the same level of passion and precision, five hours of it, in fact.

In 1985, the band were celebrating "20 Years So Far," a feat that found them on these particular nights confident with invention in terms of both setlists and playing. There are old songs renewed, rare covers revived, undeniably nuanced Jerry moments, and a few surprises from Brent Mydland too. While it's impossible to select highlights, we can say with certainty that the overall clarity of these shows is unparalleled, courtesy of Dan Healy's recordings.

Limited to 25,000 numbered copies, DAVE'S PICKS VOLUME 49: FROST AMPHITHEATRE, STANFORD U, PALO ALTO, CA 4/27/85 & 4/28/85 has been mastered to HDCD specs by Jeffrey Norman at Mockingbird Mastering.

I have just sent you an email about that Dead album.
It's very difficult dealing with loss. From my experience, the tired oild cliche about time being a healer has turned out to be true. Of course, I will never forget loved ones who have died - but the pain of loss, for me has diminished as years have gone by. Years being the operative word.
With forgiveness, it is often considered to be letting perpetrators off lightly in some way. But for me, it's main function may be that it helps us who have been hurt to survive. The longer you hate the worse you feel - and it goes nowhere. Just my personal experience - we are all different, and I would hate to belittle what you are going through.
I don't know if I should mention it - but I saw an interview with someone called Esther Ghey yesterday-it was on Good Morning Britain on t.v. last week. Her 16 year old daughter was murdered last year. In her interview, she stressed the need for more compassion and mindfulness, which she hopes to see taught in schools in the future. It was one of the most moving interviews I have ever seen.

Such a sad outcome. I would guess there might not be a legal remedy in that system but I hope he doesn't get away with it! Our condolences Needful.

Under the category of "you give one, you get one" I just got back from the store where I gave my cashier one of those ugly golden dollar coins as a tip since I have a bunch left over from culling through a roll of them while collecting the set. She thought I was like one of those G-pa's that gave real silver dollars BITD, lol. Not so much. Then I'm at the mailboxes and an old lady gave me a giant Valentine card "to give to your sweetie". Goes to show you don't ever know.

Cheese and rice dude, again, so sorry and only hope you don’t let this bring you down too low. Hang in there, concentrate and remember all the awesome times you had with Kevin instead of the loss etc.
