7/1/2023 - Dead and Co, Folsum Field, Boulder CO
Bought my ticket the night before and hit the road next morning on a near 500 mile drive. Fantastic show. So glad I didn't f*** that up! Don't own yet the nugz sbd so np Z-Man _Brian Lee transfer 165840 which is an excellent pull.
Well Now...
busy GOGD day TODAY...gonna have to start today with PHL 1981-05-02, because,
as we all like to say, 43 years ago...my friends and I piled into someone's 1970's or was it a 1960's station wagon for a ride down to the Spectrum...that's right I've got some high-test GD with my morning java...
but, of course...this afternoon's acoustic set will be 1970-05-02 [diP#8] @ SUNY Binghamton
Everyone enjoy your day, with Peace & Love for All!

Uncle T
I was at that Spectrum show. One thing in particular I remember was peaking during Scarlet>Fire and saying to myself, "whoa, they just played that backwards, note for note". Funny, the things we remember. Finally got a copy of that tape, and, no, they did not. But it was a damn fine show!
"A New Day...
...is Dawning" as Pig escorts us thru Good Lovin' @ L'olympia theater PARIS

Music is the medicine of the mind.....
Right now I am listening to May 15, 1970 early show (at low volume) while I work on autopsy reports.............
Music has an intrinsic meaning, which has always been mysterious to me.....
Rock on!
Doc
A musicologist is a man who can read music but can't hear it.....

Time travel is a wonderful thing, isn't it?
Hey rockers!
Right now I'm listening to San Antonio November 12, 1971. Maybe not classic, but a solid, fine show. Lots of the new material on display and an Other One that bobs and weaves through many different spaces. Underrated and rarely spoken of. Always worth a listen.....
When it comes to Texas in 1971, Austin gets the love, TCU gets a hug, San Antonio gets stood up at the prom.
Our memory is and always will be as good as time travel gets, and in the meantime time will do the travelling for us.....
Rock on,
Doc
Even if it turns out that time travel is impossible, it is important that we understand why it is impossible.....
11-10-67 vinyl
Spinning now.
In the car yesterday, today, and tomorrow 5-15-70.
Does GOGD help reduce road rage?
I think it does.
Wonderland of Canada...
...so this must be The Dead in Wonderland, 1984-06-21 Kingswood Music Theatre; taped this FM broadcast and it was always a fun listen, especially Wavy Gravy improv on his two great secrets about the GD lol; solid '84 show with special guests (Levon Helm & Rick Danko from the Band) for the 3 encores :)
Peace All!

The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding.....
Hey rockers!
Right now I'm listening to 2/11/70, not sure why but it sures sounds great!!
My best friend and I were at the 6/21/84 show, we rode up on the motorcycles and had a blast. The three song encore was super sweet. Hey now!
And then we caught the SPAC show on the ride back. Those were the days!!!
Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain......
Rock on!
Doc
There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief.......
bonus saturday...

Holly Bowling - Casco Bay, ME - 10/22/20
from the Wilderness Sessions
edit - beautiful show. Crazy sweet Wharf Rat!!
Holly Casco
So glad you liked it BC. That's her family's place there, the old golden cruising, extra texture. Heading to Maine, further up the coast near Bay of Funny, Canada tomorrow for the heat wave. For more chuckles, check out her OMG video from Philly where she plays a small piano bar and does her version of Tweezer, Mike Gordon shows up totally out of the blue (crow). Hey Now!
Sweet Old Golden
DMCVT - Definitely was watching that sweet old doggle woggle as it came and went during the set. I had skipped over the much of the intro text that detailed Holly's personal history as to Casco Bay - thanks for pointing it out and thanks for recommending the show!
This morning decided to stream another from the Wilderness Sessions - Beartooth Mountains, WY - 10/1/2020

Mood/Road Rage and the GD
Dear friends
I truly believe that it is impossible to listen to the Grateful Dead while being unhappy. They won't banish unhappiness from your life, but will go a long way towards enhancing the joys that life brings.
Currently listening to "Dear Jerry: A Celebration....", with The Yonder Mountain String Band playing "Shakedown Street". The woman fiddle player's voice adds a great dimension to the song. Well well well....
jonesing...
...well, yeah...for some GOGD outdoors on the patio today...so get ready neighbors, fire up the grills, chill down the beverages, and play dead, PLAY DEAD LOUD
1977-11-04 Cotterrell Gym (Colgate Univ.) in Hamilton, NY
enjoy the holiday everyone!

...there's nothing you can hold...
...for very long
Iron Butterfly
started with Ball, then went to Heavy then to In-a-gadda-da-vida, then Metamorphosis (my favorite). What a great band, Via con Dios Doug.
Back in the day, every would-be drummer played that drum solo from the in-a-gadda-da-vida lp, it was like a rite of passage.
Personally, the guitar solo in this lp, the "iron butterfly" screeching during that solo is a sound that was coined as "Heavy Metal" before such a thing was thought of.
What a time to be young.
Death don't have no mercy in this land...........
The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living......
In memory of the late Mr Walton, I am listening to 11/20/71. Bill, I salute you and wish you safe travels!!!
And how can man die better than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his Gods?
Doc
Because I could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me, the carriage held but just ourselves and immortality......
Everybody got to elevate from the norm
Just finished spinning Rush - Moving Pictures 5 LP Box.
4 LP’s from 3-24,25-81 in YYZ, and the studio album.
I've also got levitation
Or Sunrise and Salvation, the 8 cd box set of Spirits Mercury recordings. Listen to it all the way through and your mind starts leaving your body.
Cosmic Charlie...
"How do you do?"
1976-09-25 at that Cap Center in MD, can't resist that Set 2, and no need to explain, just listen and BTW thank that mr. latvala for diP #20
[inside diP #20 don't forget about that fan letter stating "always felt it to be unfair to force Dead Heads to turn to illegitimate & poor quality bootlegs"
and suggests that the band "put out a line of recordings of your concerts."]
and so to TPTB I say "keep them COMING!"
A little bit quicker and...
we might have time to say "How do you do?"
before we left behind
Peace and Kindness to All!

Music is the best means we have of digesting time.....
Hey rockers!!
It's my Friday, paperwork day, working on autopsy reports while listening to the Detroit shows of October 23 and 24 1971. Worth a listen..............
Release of June 1970 Hawaii shows would be awesome!
Music is intended and designed for sentient beings that have hopes and purposes and emotions.....
Rock on!
Doc
Music is the medicine of the mind......
a bit of a dilemma
While the June 1970 show is a great choice, will it be worth paying for a 1980 show in order to get it? It will be a tough call.
1/22/78 vinyl ( cheers Stephen)
For me yesterday. A total blast from start to finish.
1/22/78
Cnkd - luckily mines 100% proof. No scratches or any audible interference at all. I have to say also, that whenever I have bought some L.Ps off deadnet, and one of them is less than perfect, it has always been replaced by them with no problem. I'd go for it!
Great show of course. I'm now back into 1978 for a while - Dicks Picks 18, featuring the two shows from 2/78, is a stone cold classic as everyone knows.
Thanks Daverock
Yes, ‘78 has some good stuff.
Wonder why RedRocks 78 hasn’t been chosen for a vinyl pressing.
