Half way through the first and really nice!
    Hot Jack opener!

12/3 was good, but I don’t recall any real standouts one way or another…

6/17/94: BC, BUMMER! Dooode I thought Seattle was decent, and the 2 Autzens you saw were good, but 6/17…that’s gotta be in top ten for the year!
    Sorry, That’s gotta still hurt ; )

Nice/interesting tales DR. My cousin would say “little bit of something better than all of nothing”.
So you caught one of the tours best in good shape, then that awesome H/S/F and a good set, but, Not Loose Lucy was having none of it (bummer), so you missed a good second set with less than optimum JG voice, but you got to experience 11/1 and most especially DS on veggies…it’s like one of those CC ads:
    Tix 100
    Subway 20
    Supplies 50
    Annoying GF X
    Playin>Jam>DS> Killer D/S>DS>Playin…Priceless!

I spent 17 years chasing that kinda goodness lol
I’d say you did pretty well.
Onward! (Wonder how many times I’ll have to shovel today? Lol)

That sounds like a pretty good description of me when The Dead came to Wembley in 1990 ! I was lucky to catch all three shows, and of those the one I enjoyed the most was the first - 10/30/90. I went on my own and didn't ingest anything stronger than a couple of pints - maybe that helped.
It was an amazing scene to me outside the stadium, with all the vendors selling their wares. Inside was great too, milling around. I was right near the front in the stalls - after all these years of listening to The Dead and reading about them- there they were, in person , within shouting distance. Songs which stood out were Row Jimmy Row ( not a song I like at home), Built to Last - which had a lot more substance than the recorded version, and Black Peter - quite something seeing Jerry sing this close up.
It was a buzz when they started up Lovelight, too. I had probably never heard a version of this post Pigpen, so the mere fact of them playing something off Live Dead was reward in itself. Weird phone calls seemed to come out of the amps during this song. They are transcribed in the Taping Compendium, which was quite re-assuring to read. Proof I hadn't imagined it!

The following night I was joined by Lady Macbeth, as my dad called my girlfriend, and trouble followed. We arrived as they were playing H-S-F, and they seemed to have more energy than the previous night. But we left after the first set. The third night I was back on my tod, and decided to take some mushrooms. And got lost on the way there due to one of the tube stations being closed. I still arrived on time, but I started tripping on the London underground which was a bit...challenging. I was up in the balcony this night, to the right of the stage. The sound was really bad - what I heard was anyway. The piano sounded too loud and the guitars too quiet. The highlight of this night was Space- Drums.

I agree that, of the shows I have heard from this tour, the one released in 30 Trips - Paris 10/27/90 - is the best. Playing now as I type.

Set II, begins "in the pouring rain", only Autzen night show(?) or was it an afternoon show on a Friday which is why I couldn't make it down from Seattle? Anyhoo, sure wish I'd been there - saw the 2 shows in Seattle before and then the 2 Autzen shows after this (last time they played there).

    Rain > Eyes > Samba > Saint > D/S > Wheel > Attics > Throwing > Not Fade Away

no circulating sbd - can anybody fix that : ) - source is the Paul B audience transfer - sweet pull

    Poor Jerry's voice

    but again

I don't listen to GD for the vocals

took a chance and played Scarlet Fire from 3/10/81 for my son last night and emphasized the peak toward the end of Fire

he appreciates the musicianship and respects the GD
    I consider that a win

Wow, the three Wembley shows were all over the place!
The first on the 30th was tour status quo goodness! Though I still think Paris was top dog, and Mr David picked well with 10/27.
The 31 starts out awesome, but somewhere in the first set Jers voice suddenly goes rogue, which is a shame because the show is well played otherwise with many highlights, including a fun encore.

11/1/90 I’d heard/had at least the second but it’s been awhile.
The Playin Sammy/sequence is awesome! Victum was good, Touch ok, but consistency wise, much of this show was all over the place, including a couple near train wrecks i.e., U.S, Blew…
Interesting tour. Might as well keep Truckin’ on…12/3/90

Edit: S-W-B: can you imagine if he had the same PA, Modulus Bass, PIE Amps, Meyers 18’s and 15’s, and rack in 68 as he had when you were there!

To think of the folks being plastered back into those lower stone seats as he thundered along on the Eleven & Caution!
Bless you Phil (and the boys) for all the fun you gave us for all those years. I was lucky enough to be able to experience that exact Greek sensation just once - an indelibly (psychedelically) imprinted version of the Other One at the final GD Greek Theatre show - August 1989.

Onto 10/27, and hoping for a DHB with 10/28 as TOO is off to work, woo hoo!
Dbl Edit: holy crap! Now I’ve played the Boxilla 27th before, but I guess I hadn’t actually “heard” it yet! Yowsa! Good Sheet Mon!

    Ok, onto the 28…

Both good, thought first show was better. Loved the Bruce Jam in the first, and sweet spacey Dark Star, though perhaps not JGs best version. In fact I’m digging these shows a lot, but Jer occasionally seems? Every now and then he kinda drifts? Hard to describe, just something..is..? Maybe just me?
Fun if not great Valley Road, nice SOTM, and that Stella might just be the best thing I’ve heard on the tour so far, amazing Stella on the 22!

Day off and fired this up, since I didn't have the opportunity to listen to it on the anniversary yesterday. BTW keeps pouring in ! ... Awesome set 2, plus love the OO - MLB - Stella filler from the 20th.

Let's Get Together (just played) and now the jaybirds calling on Like a River

Fell in love with Kate's voice and music back in late '80s. Great to have this live set as part of a SEVA benefit concert that includes other favorite musicians of mine (thank you Bear).

8/10/91 - a five-star-give-it-ten-if-i-could favorite from the tape days back in the mid 90s. Awesome that it got released in that box - beautiful sound and show. Shout out to Proudfoot for mentioning that box and steering me here.

Last night.
I’ve heard it before but not sit down listen.
Though didn’t get the best listen last night due to aaaa, “extra curricular” activities/noise in the world.
But it’s an interesting show that you just kind want for it to get released, especially because ya know…AND, it’s Pinkus first show, etc
But I’m not sure it’s good enough, orrrr, tight enough for a Dave’s.
Specifically, the beginning of the second set. Yeah it’s fun sneaking TOG in between S/F but the transitions are a bit sloppy etc, enough, along with other sorta normal what I call Cali laid back looseness lol to perhaps keep it getting “Daved”
As we know, he likes to try and pick the best representation or presentation of the band/music on a specific tour etc, and not necessarily what some might consider “the best show” of the tour.
BUT!
After this Reno show getting out, and as Jim often suggests, sometimes these kind of shows work well to round out box sets, so I could see it as part of a Greek box! Curious what others think of this show?
Think I need a redo, and gonna hit the rest of the 84 summer Cali shows asap.
Onward!

Don’t lend yer hand, to raise no flag, atop no ship of fools!

Sing Out is a great Owsley release, but all the Owsley releases are worth picking up. I was at Sing Out it was a cool show. Kate Wolf was a favorite of mine, I used to go see her play all the time here in the Bay Area.

Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die (a favorite from way back in the formative years)

and now - David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk

BTK - very cool that you got to see Kate sing time and again including the Sing Out! Seva Benefit. I was introduced to her music right around the time she died (I was Midwesterner then). Guessing a dubbed cassette copy from a friend of the double LP Give Yourself To Love. I in turn shared her music with many others. Such a remarkable, beautiful voice. Streamed the video for her performance of Green Eyes from the Austin City Limits show (don't own that yet) and my goodness how amazing it is. (Edit - originally wrote that it was a performance of Give Yourself To Love when it was in fact Green Eyes.)

Further follow up - 8/10/91 JGB Electric on the Eel right up there with Warner Theatre 3/18/78 (Set II specifically) as an absolute favorite Jerry Band release. So good!!

"Many Thanks, and God Bless You All" from Phil before JB Goode,
of the 3 nights, I always for some reason return to the 15th, it might be the heavy Phil & Brent mix that clinches it for me...fun stuff; even a couple of nice Garcia teases during space...

Doing a tape of the mid-90s bootleg CD.
Got to run the tape deck now and again to keep everything running smoothly. It keeps the belts and the grease on the mechanism from getting stiff.

I know 3/18/71 St. Louis was included in 30 Trips, but I didn't buy that box. However, in preparation for Dave's Vol 51 I figured I ought to give it a listen. To date I have only ever heard the tail end of the show, the NFA->GDTRFB->Caution etc. So I've just had a listen to the opener (Casey Jones) and am about to get into it properly, but decided I need a sangwich and some water first. Figured I'd make this short post first.

Side note: only Caution of 1971! It would be a full year until it was again played live - at the Academy of Music in March '72. After only 5 documented performances of Caution in 1970, that must have been exciting as heck for the crowd in St. Louis to hear them launch into it.

I’m streaming ‘Ask Me No Questions’ by Bridget St John at the moment. I own it on vinyl and cd but streaming was the easiest way to find it. This is a wonderful album and she deserves to be far better known. It originally came out on John Peel’s Dandelion label a very long time ago.

I think I played some of this last night - the first cd of Dicks Picks 31. If so - I agree - the first track, Playing, doesn't just open the doors of perception, it blows them off the hinges.
It's a bit of of a hotch potch, though, Dicks Picks 31. 4 great cds, but it would have helped if they had said which show the songs came from. I should make my own notes really - every time I play it, I end up sitting here squinting at Deadbase, trying to work out what's what.

The first taste of live Phish, excellent concert, seats down front right above the pit, direct sight lines, in front of Mike and Jon. Quite the venue, spin around to see 20,000 above us. With an old friend who has been to many Dead shows, we had fun checking out the scene. Loud and clean, Trey's voice lessons paid off, sang well. My 72nd birthday. Next up, John Jorgenson's J2B2 bluegrass band, then JRAD on Jerry's birthday. Looking forward to April, 71 #51, thanks Dave, love those fully packed discs.

Released as "England's Newest Hitmakers" in the States - with a few changed tracks. 60 years old, and the best of their pre freak beat/psych albums. Maybe the best of all their albums outside the classic 1968-1973 years.
