    Big Deal

I always love the Big 'Deal(s)' and especially of the Brent era, with the extra jam at the end. This Deal seems extra good even by the big jam standards, Jerry really goes off! The 4/4 Providence is a nice example of the Sailor/Saint into Deal combo wether segued or sequential. Bro. Esau and Friend ...Devil are a nice pairing preceding the song coupling. Classic '80z!

Week of September 2-8, 2024

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1985, 1988, and 1989, a big batch of Brent-era Dead.

Our first stop this week is the end of the first set on 4/4/85 in Providence, RI, where we have My Brother Esau ; Friend Of The Devil ; Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance > Deal.

Next up is the entire first set from 4/3/88 in Hartford, CT, opening night of a three night run in Hartford, where we have Promised Land> Greatest Story Ever Told; Althea ; Little Red Rooster; Cold Rain & Snow; Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Box Of Rain; Don't Ease Me In.

Lastly this week is the first set from 4/5/89 in Ann Arbor, MI, with this excellent set featuring Feel Like A Stranger > Franklin's Tower ; New Minglewood Blues ; Candyman ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Far From Me ; Dupree's Diamond Blues ; Let It Grow > U.S. Blues.

Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault.
