The Deadcast begins our 10-part series on Europe ‘72, revisiting the Grateful Dead’s legendary triple-LP & epic tour, as the band prepares to blaze a new circuit across the Continent with more than 40 family members, custom recording gear, & the makings of a classic album.
Europe ‘72: Prelude supplementary notes
by Jesse Jarnow
As always, the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast would not be possible without the head-scholars who came before us. Massive thanks this episode to David Gans (of course), who graciously provided interview audio of Rosie McGee, Dennis Leonard, and Bob Weir with Phil Lesh, some of which was also source material for his essential book with Blair Jackson, This Is All A Dream We Dreamed. This episode likewise uses some of audio from Garcia: A Signpost to New Space, a book compiling extended interviews by Charles Reich (and Jann Wenner) with Jerry Garcia in 1971 and 1972, available wherever books are sold from Hachette/Da Capo Press. And though it’s not quite as factual as say, JerryBase, Rock Scully and David Dalton’s Living with the Dead remains one of the most exhilarating memoirs from the Dead family

Fascinating as usual
However, if the first episode is called “Prelude”, the second should really be called “Fugue”.
Otherwise top notch stuff
Rolling Stone Interview
There are audio clips from the Rolling Stone interview Garcia did at his house. Where can I find this audio? I have the interview in an old book but I would love to hear the full audio or whatever is available. I see the link is for book.
