Damn man I hate hearing stories like that, they make me cringe. "Lazy lightning you say you never strike the same place. I want a double dose in any case ... You got to hear my supplication. Got to hear me now. A little bolt of inspiration"

Far L...couldn't agree more about the All Star Jam...fucking blew my mind (and my ear drums). If you find a recording of that or Sunday night's albums please post. I got arrested entering the the venue with my stash around 6pm Sunday night. Shit was well hidden but the lame ass security searched me like I was Bin Laden. Fucking diks then called over the sheriff to really fuck me. Got out at like 1am so I totally missed the show! Oh and to make it even worse it was my birthday!

Hoping to join you in Rochester. Coming from Toronto by boat - perfect way to escape the G20! I'll have to see about Red Rocks, Jack. Never been and always wanted to go. Set aside most of my vacation $ already into 2012... but I'll see what I can do to take care of it =)

I've been perusing the archives for some time now and listening to Bojangles this past winter blew me away. Phil is singing his heart out here folks. The Box of Rain almost gave me a nervous breakdown about my recently passed away mother. Phil you warlock! It's not nice or fair to unleash the power of this song on unsuspecting people! Even people who suspect! But thank you for the current ride. Nuthin' left to do but :), :0, :)

Ok, I am going to try and avoid the superlatives, of which there are so many that I have trouble coming up with enough good things to say. Without a doubt, the band is just getting more and more in "the groove". Three days of insanely great music - if you haven't heard about that late night set after the so-called day one "sound check" (more like sound wreck my head, build it back, and then topple it again just for the fun of it) then allow me to elaborate. Start with Viola Lee, then segue into a couple of tunes, then back to Viola, but wait... switch out the bass and lead guitars for a different duo to come back into Viola, going from Phil and Jackie Green to Jackie taking up the bass with Bobby playing guitar, then back to Viola after a couple more songs until Jorma and Jack come out to play with Bob and close it after a few more great Hot Tuna standards with the final Viola verse. Just insane. If anyone knows where I can find the tape of that set then please hit me up... timlake at homegrownvideo dot com. Looks like just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back IN!!! Summer tour, here I come. Just counting my blessings that I am fortunate enough to be able to take my laptop out and keep my day job... Phil acknowledged special energy between the band and crowd. The first set was also nicely jammed on each tune. The highlight of the evening was Caution for me, with Weir showing a mastery of the tune I haven'''t seen. The Dark Star dropped in nicely and was nicely finished in a Playin'>Dark Star>Morning Dew>Playin' sandwich. All in all this show was "Saturday at the Rocks" worthy. the boys put ina full night's work with a lot of flourishes and careful attention to the jamming. Gotta love the ride they are giving on this night and on this tour. ~ Because I'm Sitting On Top Of The World! ~

Heck, I've barely had time to hit the pool and hot tub > Gonzo has the setlist already up ! Interesting to have Lovelight in the first set. Met up with Gypsy at the break. Unbroken Chain was terrific: The jam between it and Shakedown was excellent. Standing on the Moon was an unexpected treat. Thought we'd see Sailor or Scarlet.

I have to say that Red Rocks is a great venue and Coloradans are great people. I made so many friends and there were very few bad vibes outside.Inside could get a little obnoxious with the sold-out crush of people sitting anywhere. Review for the last show: Highlights included Something In The Way She Moves; Reuben & Cherise; New Potatoe; Unbroken Chain & Shakedown. The show wasn't a bad effort but really fell flat at the end. We'll give it three stars.

Great stories, and I love the fact that your son liked it! I've been telling you this band is guided by Jerry for quite some time, but man, if you really FEEL the music than that's what it's all about. ROCK ON. I'm so happy that you got experience what we did last year, with better setlists. I mean, they ain't holdin' back no more......for real, Furthur has reached the heights but aren't even done. Thank God for Red Rox....great venue, if not the Greatest of all time, but hey I'm partial, I was @ '87 too and if I remember it was the first time I ever took the "journey" into a new land. So glad some of you folks got to see how frggin phenomenal this band really is!!!! I mean, you can really FEEL Jerry sometimes, throwing his two cents in and being the jovial person I know he is, DAWN the crowd into a state of BLISS. Thank you Phil Lesh, Bobby Weir, John Kadlecik, Joe Russo, Jeff Chiementi, Sunshine Garcia-Becker, and Jeff Perhson for the last two years, you've turned my unfulfilled ears around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS....this Chuck guy, I mean Charlie, Miller sounds friggin AWESOME! TY

Hmmmmmmmnnnn...... Lost Wages. Sin City doesn't have any appeal for me, though the many colored lights are a fun distraction before and especially after the show. I hope Furthur does a full light show tonight also. While I haven't spoken directly about the "The Lighting" on this tour, I guess I will do so here and say it is a GREAT light show when it is fully cranked up like it was in Eugene. I saw many different things in the lights. Some of the effects are subtle, some not so subtle. In general, a great addition to Furthur's appeal. When they are hitting on all cylinders with the lights cranked, this is some very juicy, dripping, psychedelia. I think I'm gonna get slimed with their psycho-active jams, and dance every minute of that great energy tonight! Show time is scheduled for 8:00pm but 9:15-9:30pm does not sound unreasonable. Late start, late finish with, hopefully, a shorter break tonight.

The Hard Rock Cafe complex in Las Vegas is huge. It covers about 1 1/2 city blocks and has towers and pools and a mall and restaurants and a spa and bars and, oh yeah, a couple of venues for Entertainment acts to play. Furthur will be at The Joint At Hard Rock tonight. Rooms were reasonable. A single king in the Paradise Tower sold for $89 plus tax the day before the show. Tonight, a walk down the main drag in Vegas after the show. ~ When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro ~ (Hunter Thompson)

Excellent shows, truly an evolution of musicality and song selection. Now chilling in my living room, listening to Furthur on SiriusXM LIVE NOW! Speechless, don't want to keep typing. LOVE! . . . . The vibe alive and well w/ FURTHUR. Rippin' Shakedown Sun at the Rocks! And I gotta say; from Death Don't Have No Mercy Jerry was present , missed, and honored. Fifth Row Jerry's side Fri and Sat. Sun up under a tree w/ the youth them there, two eldest came down front SO GOOD! Listening to Vegas now, AMAZING! There were six tickets for Vegas when my lovely wife booked our Red Rocks, responsibility brought us home safely. Perhaps next year the boys and girl will revisit. This HardRock show is another off the hook 1st set, creative lyrics appreciated. Peace

It was a masterful performance by the band in an intimate setting. I was right in front of the sound board and had a great view of the whole band all night. The playing and jamming was crisp. The Cosmic Charlie was right on the money. The China Doll was more than passable and had us all missing Jerry. Like A Rolling Stone was awesome and heartfelt. The Golden Road had the 2nd set roaring and the set was totally sick with the Viola going in and out of such favs. as Midnight Hour and Do It In The Road. The Weather Report Suite was full blown and well done, better than the Let It Grow. Liberty was crisp and a good way to end the night's festivities. Everybody was totally into it. There was a whole lot of people doing the full stomp boogie. The energy is there these nights and it don't take much to ride it.'' We give this show 4.5 stars but rate it slightly behind Missoula as the tour favorite.

I'm giving a standing ovation to Phil & Bob & their whole gang in Furthur. This band is just totally letting it all hang out. With their light show full blown they are a true psychedelic spectacle. I thought it was well worth my effort and expense, unlike The Dead 09. Having the E72 trunk was definitely a fave. Every show I went to I became the tune provider for the afternoon lot scene in my little area. Everybody was getting off on it. i don't know that I'll ever do another tour, but having Bob, Phil, JK, Jeff & the rest do a group bow and then clap for us, close-up, in Vegas, was a sweet way to end the tour and my memory of it. Soldier on Furthur-heads! ~ Only the strange remain... ~

looked to be in order here in Monterey. Least that was my first reaction when I saw the sawdust spread all over the arena floor. Nice touch, Maybe had something to do with all the previous days rain.Thought the first set drug a little and was somewhat short. Was getting worried it might be kinda of a flat night. It wasn't. Was workin' up a lather shortly into the second set. They are so incredibly good. A pleasure and a joy to behold.....they're a band beyond description, like yaweh's favorite choir! Really looking forward to tonights performance

Who did the singing? Mission is one of those favorites of mine, never heard it live until I heard Bobby sing it during the last (I think) Ratdog tour. I went from "hard to imagine anyone but Jerry" to "not bad, Bob, I'm impressed" after the first chorus. Gonzo, you still on the road or just reporting setlists?

Monterey had. That was being in the landing path of Monterey Airport and every 20 minutes or so a jet would burst over the the top of the arena descending to the runway. Friday night we were facing stage left with the jets coming at us. Saturday night, facing stage right, the jets descending towards the airport. Roars from the party goers go up for certain lyrics. Roars go up for great solos, roars of approval go up for incredible jams. I often see most of a show with my eyes closed. The audience would roar at inexplicable times and then you realized a jet had just flashed low overhead. How good were these shows? I'm 63 and I'm amazed. My girl says thats cuz it doesn't take alot to make me happy (I'm good with that :-). When my eyes were open I'd be looking all around and as far as I could see there were people weaving and bobbing and shaking and having a good ol' time. Did I mention more smiles than you will see anywhere? It was two great nights of music and people coming together to celebrate something very few understand. As I have been told on numerous occasions, "the Grateful Dead? I don't get it." "won't you come out to play?"

My memory, oh where have you gone? I didn't hear Ratdog do my first Mission in the Rain on THEIR last tour (I guess that I was thinking of my first Cream Puff War, which I heard the last time I saw Ratdog on their last tour), I heard it at Lupo's in Providence-- the last Ratdog tour while I was still living in Rhode Island. Or something like that. I do remember spending some time at the show surrounded by a group of college hippie chicks from RISD, and feeling very old as I watched countless guys trying to hit on one or another of them... So who's singing "Mission?" Bob or JK?

Now that I have all the set lists to look at and memory of the shows to go with it up until the last 4, I have to say that the band was grooving with the exception of the first set in the first show in Eugene when Bob cut it short. Everybody goes to shows for one thing or another. I go to dance and have a good time in the parking lot, meet a lot of new people. This tour was fun. Blue skies followed us everywhere and people were definitely into it. One of my pet peeves is cell/smart phones and though the die-hards were out there checking their phone a million times a night, MOST of the people were just enjoying themselves. I had the feeling that Furthur felt they had something to prove on this tour. Phil kept saying things from the stage after the shows that were sort of a declamation of surprise at the how they'd played that night. The crowd was strikingly different from the East Coast. There were a lot more older deadheads in the crowd. The younger generation was completely pushed back. It was funny to hear this 30-something year old going off on a rant about how you just couldn't be walking down the strip in Vegas without a plan trippin' balls! You had to have a plan! I have listened to the three shows of four I wasn't at and I don't think there was anything thesere more than 2-3 stars. They had to be getting tired, especially playing 5 of the last 5 in a row. However, credit where credit is due: Bobby & Phil were playing hard right down to the last song every show before. One last comment on the heads going to the shows and how they've changed. The people were very friendly out west and it was super-fun just to hang out. What is missing from the good old days? 1: Jerry! 2 We all were younger 3 We used to Wang Dang Doodle all night long It's a lot tamer now and there is a hell of a lot more white hair but you can still dance... I'll take it every time. Best of the Tour: Missoula The Joint @ Hard Rock Sat. @ Red Rocks Furthur is following me home for the tour opener in November.

Bob & Phil are kicking it pretty hard. Phil is lasting all night, most nights. JK looks comfortable doing his thing up there along with Chimenti and the drummer. The back-up singers are useful for certain numbers. This band can really clean-up and sound sharp when it wants to. It has the mechanics to roll out a jam in almost any song. And they can string it together for a whole set or, more rarely, for a whole show. The crowd is in large part a veteran one who has more than likely heard the Grateful Dead with Bret Mydland on keyboards. Most people are happy not to have it sold out anymore. There is a happy air of informality. So between the crowd and the band it looks and sounds great, most of the time. ~ So glad you made it! ~
