Days Of Dead

St. Stephen>The Eleven>Drums>High Time
Hint:
Two songs often joined together followed by an unexpected turn to something they never went into but once

San Francisco, CA, Family Dog at the Great Highway
The St. Stephen>The Eleven combination was played frequently in late 1968 through 1969, and makes up a quarter of Live/Dead. Here, rather than heading to Lovelight or Death Don't Have No Mercy, they segue into Drums and High Time

Perfect example of a 30 DoD selection that leads to a show that really needs to be freed from the vault. It would make a great stand-alone or a part of a box set. Please?

After I concluded my search today, I did some more research on this Venue just to finally see pictures of it. The stories go on and on about the life in and around this venue. I would have loved to have been around back in the day. Check it out if you have time.

Hats off to Dave L, thanks for another astounding part of this setlist.

Had a fair idea on where to start and the first show I clicked on was the one!! Not that it was going to be hard but that was sort of funny. Have to run off to work and then travel but will settle into this show next day or two when I can.

that so many squawkin' about the typos in the hints and venues can't spell in their comments....like 'thoughs' for those...
if English is not their primary language then I apologize to Heads in foreign lands and blame the piss poor American education system

Fly on the wall at the shows held here whew....
Careful on the searching sites.... may throw one off a bit
As one mentioned, I would love to see a release of this show and/or a box that highlights the venue in question.

and that certain sort of sound for this venue and time period made this one stand out like Rudolph's red nose for me. How about that gunshot like POW! when Billy hits his snare head after "one man gathers what another man spills." Powerful! And how about that one guy who keeps yelling "PLAY, PLAY" when clearly they ARE playing. Annoying! But the Dead never suffered fools lightly and gratefully we never hear from him again. Maybe they sicked ol' Otis the dog on his overexuberant ass.

LOL, anybody else catch this bit of chatter during Drums? Around thirteen and a half minutes.

OMG such a hilarious version of Saint Stephen. I'm reminded of a Garcia interview I read somewhere that he sometimes would do his best to fuck the music up. I love it!

I am sure having a High Time enjoying what David's been spilling.
This is a the season of the 30 Days and every day may require a change of strategy for searching.
We still have about 16 more Days of living the good life.
Nothing's for certain, but I know we're in store for more fun.

Oh what the ambience must've been at such a venue, with the history, and the combination of characters that might have wondered through, an eclectic blend of psychedelic rangers, living a life of 'Magic at the Edge of the Western World.'

It seems to me that they're either really easy or really hard.

Aha! I was at this venue before the Dead ever played there, but it was something else. Never heard a show there, but yes, what a wild, iconic, playful area it was! Fun place to hang around. And what a perfect moment in time for these shows. This performance—amazing!
