The Other One was a consistent part of the Dead's repertoire 1967-1995, with Jerry's Cryptical Envelopment portion of the suite around 1967-1972 and 1985. Black Peter arrived in 1969 and stuck around to 1995

I thought this was going to be a difficult day long challenge, but nailed it on second listen. A really beautiful Black Peter. So much soul balanced with melancholy.

always preferred the whole thing
weather report
cryptically
st.,william tell, eleven
while there are countless amazing jams of let it grow
and the other one i missed the intro and outro parts
today was just fabulous
woke at 3am and waited for changeover
no matter found a great new way to sync using my laptop and ipad
i even can now adjust volume as 30 dod always seems so low.
thanks dave
it’s getting better all the time.
can remember getting 3 for30 years back as i cannot tell an A chord from a D.
now i am usually closer to 25 for 30
y’all enjoy this great show.
just because what key is black peter played in?

Dear whomever decides these things. This like year five, or something, without one Pigpen cut (so far...). And no comments from the peanut gallery...
How bout a Lied, Cheated from 5-4-72? Or Schoolgirl from Kirkwood 1970 the best!

The clarity of the music preformed decades ago is jaw dropping. The care and love of Dave, Dead dot net and countless others to archive and preserve this slice of Americana has hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. Thank You Thank You Thank You!

I have it listed as "Cryptical-Black Peter" in my file catalog. It just randomly came up on shuffle this morning and I was like "waaaaaait a minute..." lol

A wonderful sonic journey. If I had to choose only one venue to have seen the Grateful Dead during my short journey with them, it would have been this one. Definitely takes the top spot of 2024's 30DOD offerings for me so far. And we're only 2/3rds of the way through the month! And lest we forget.......the faster we go, the rounder we get! Or is it.......the more we eat, the rounder we get! It is the month of Thanksgiving after all. May I have some more gravy on my mashed potatoes please? And hand me that pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Regarding yesterday's pick.......October 27, 1984(the day prior to yesterday's show), was the day the band provided an "official" taper's section in every? most?(not sure) venues. Ironically, we were given a slightly imperfect taping of CRAI, which I find hilarious. But of course, THANKS to those very TAPERS, all we have to do is poke around a little to find the full version quite easily. Happy listening friends!

Could be an illusion, or one of my flashes, but I swear we’ve been here before.
I think this pair already left a smoking crater on our minds in past Days.
No matter how many times we revisit, I’ll never regret getting on the bus all those years ago.
Looking forward to what’s coming around these next 10 Days.

A date on which occurred another good show in another year

Not related but just found out the upcoming DP 53 is a show that was only popping up online as an audience.

The boys absolutely shredding before other one verse 1. Smoking crater indeed! My favorite day so far. Can’t help but think this entire month is Lemieux’s sonic eulogy for Phil. Thanks, Dave.

While hunting for this combination, some patterns began to become clear. It seems that they mostly liked going into Cosmic Charlie here instead of Peter... however, this combo seems to work well w/ the 'die/death' theme of both songs.
This is why I love this game (even though I have played for years and usually get the answer but have NEVER won.) The fun is in the hunt and the discoveries that await.
ON to tmro!

not only is the power out for several days (!!), but i lost internet halfway through my first listen last night.
but luckily i already knew this one anyway, found it marked in my Deadbase from the last time around.

thanks again, Dave !

btw those Pigpen songs you mention are still written by other artists. can't be played on 30 Days for copyright reasons.
enjoy what you have.

because the copyright thang is true. So enjoy him in the mix of whatever.
Wow that "that's it for the other one"!! super shreddalicious! times two! and then Black Peter so sweet, slow, still and deliberate....heartbreaking. Great pairing.
So going backwards in 30DOD time, was i tripping or did i hear an Andy Griffith show tease somewheres? between songs...11/18? i scrolled back to no avail.
Giving SUPER ULTRA MAJOR THANKS to all Tapers!!!!!! i still have tapes!

How about Two Souls or Chinatown Shuffle? He wrote those, didn't he? Maybe not.

honestly, the bubbling up of phil's bass between "quadlibet" and "the faster we go. . ." does it to me every time.
