This year, listening to Arlo’s Thanksgiving staple, his annual rendition of Alice’s Restaurant Massacree, will be especially poignant, as Alice Brock, remember Alice, passed away 2 days ago at the age of 83. Previously of Sturbridge, she later moved to Provincetown at the tip of the cape. I’m sure many of us can recite several portions of the song, just as we can sing along with so many of the GOGD songs. “You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant, excepting Alice, You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant, walk right in, it’s around the back, just a half a mile from the railroad track, You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant”

Had to pick up my daughter at the airport at four-thirty, so got an early start today. I've said it a bunch this year, but this was much easier than I thought it would be.

that you are listening to another repeat. three different happenings but he picks the same one???

For perspective: there is but one Brokedown Palace in the last 11 years. One. That song would be a fun and tough search, especially an early version (like 11-15-72 that we got years ago). Standing On The Moon from earlier this month was the one and only version in the last 11 years. And let's not even begin to talk about the lack of Pig in this annual banquet feast we call 30 DoD. With all the live music that the Grateful Dead produced (which we comb through every day), it's unbelievable that someone's not paying a lick of attention. And to continue to get repeated versions every year???

Enough complaining, this is a free game. Have a grateful day, heads.

About 20 minutes of screening, and BOOM, got it on first try. Only 2 wrong so far this year, plus 6 days had no time to even listen let alone guess (work gets in the way of everything). Another great 30 days drawing near its bittersweet end. What a blast! Peace and Love to you all!

I totally enjoy that some work on here is short, even shorter if the songs are from a show I had attended. I had to tell my mom I'd be traveling to see the Grateful Dead again. Mom, I am catching seven shows this time but will be back to celebrate your birthday. Her birthday was the day following this show here. I called her the next morning to wish her a Happy Birthday and she asked how the shows were so far. Answering last night's opener made me think of you, then the closer made me think of dad. I miss them both today, but this show was extremely right for that time.

Queuing up the show ... yesterday I meandered to the last Halloween show at the Marin Civic Center. We were outside and didn't get in. At some point, some heads were popping open door so folks could run in. I wished I had hung around as that was the last St. Stephen.

Today I ran across the 3-29-84 Shakedown in Marin, give that a listen for the opening Phil bombs.

As much as I find this fun to see what great or not so great live gem of the Dead is going to be issued each day through the month of November, I have an idea. Rather than releasing numerous versions of the same Dead tunes over the course of 30 days next year why not have a theme?
Maybe pick a few Dead albums and release songs from the album in order as they appear on the record (or as close to it as they can be). It would be cool when the 30 days is over to have a set of songs that all have a similar theme, in this case, they are all from one record but the catch would be that they are from different periods in the Dead's live repertoire.
If I am not mistaken, all the tunes from several of the Dead's recorded output have been played live and even the deep cuts from the records were played live at least a few times before being dropped.
I think this could work. Who's with me?

Very interesting idea, the combined list would be really interesting to listen to but I'm not 100% there yet. With that said back in 2010, Furthur played a series of show up in Angels Camp Ca. Each night for three nights they played a full album which was a blast. We camped out and caught the full series after driving out from near Chicago. So I must say the theme idea is a good one.

is another's 20 ft putt to save par. took me a little while this morning. Cool show with a sweet sounding board source circulating. Sampled and will definitely come back to this one for a relaxed listen.

1stShow - can't believe Dave didn't save the penultimates for tomorrow! And I wish there was a slice of that pecan pie with my name on it!

Turkey in roaster, potatoes all a boil, jello in mold, and my young boy - my oldest, got in the fold making mac n cheese. I thought I would make super quick work of this one but started on the wrong end of the spectrum. Listened more closely and then tuned into the right era and after getting everything set for the feast to come found time to pick up the nuances I had missed first thing in the morning when my headache was strong. That two inch put for me was more like a 20ft par but I did sink it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

when it becomes easier to search for the song from morbunjt than archive it is time to revise the format.
i loved years with
eac jam from a rehearsal
mindbender ( confusions prince)
we at least were guaranteed a bi yearly little sadie
this year will make a great playlist for me as well and even if things are the same i’d be back next year, but all are correct. we could probably have gone all 15 years without a single repeat and still have room to grow.
love ya dave.
to one and all happy turkey.
i b home tomorrow with dog as all housemates go to family and i wait for leftovers.
don’t forget Alice’s Restaurant at noon after macys parade santa goes by.
traditional and all that.
peace love and fun,
joel aka wackaloonq from ranch sturbridge ma.

Hasn't been so long since I felt this way, but I feel like we may have visited this trio in past Days. Not positive, but I did already have it marked in my study materials.
Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs previously thrown.
But I got no time to be a critic, no. Wondering if David does this intentionally, or the dark is just from my eyes.
Tomorrow we wake up to find out that it is Thanksgiving.
I certainly have so much to be Grateful for.
Looking forward to waking to see which song that the morning brings.
Don't tell me these Days ain't got no heart.

What would be a theme?? It would take more effort on DL's part.
Based on the 6 repeats (so far) this year and 7 last year, he may not even keep track of songs from previous years.
With ALL the shows available to him, repeats shouldn't occur at all.
Some songs are not even on records..eg: Iko Iko (1st time this year).
One timers: Standing on the moon ( first this year), Unbroken Chain (2017), Days Between(2016) West L.A. (2013).
Instead of the favorite standards we get every year, more of the seldom played would be good too.
Expanding the 30 Days list is ALWAYS a good thing.

Either these are getting easier or I'm getting better at this. I think it's the former! Thanks Dave and Crew for all these years of 30 Days. Been on board since 2013 with 2 wins (could use another). It's great to see all of the die-hards every year!

this time of year, it's always bird, stuffing, pumpkin and apple pies, afternoon naps...
I don't mind the repeats, some things are just good to not share again and again. Plus think of all the new folks this round and previous that might have missed these or the veterans that forgot about them in the 360 days past!? DL can IM me if he needs a list of previous selection :) Happy T-day all!

I have it on excellent authority that there have been so many great Phil bombs this month and today is no exception. I saw my first 5 shows at this venue and this show was #5. What a time to be alive!

The combos are a win-win. A bit easier to narrow down, and you get MORE music to enjoy. There haven't been as many times this year (as in years past) where I listened carefully to the noodlings after the song ended to try to guess what was being played next to narrow it down.

This time, I had a feeling it was in the year of the really blistering Eyes, but this was a bit later on.

Those bombs, though. =8^O RIP Phil.
