    11/19/72 Houston sequence

    Hey All,
FYI: a portion of this show was released on vinyl by Rhino for the 2014 Record Store Day. I believe that it was limited to 7,200 copies, Also a CD version with a slightly different song order was put out exclusively at The GD online store. Both versions were mastered by Mockingbird.
Original recordings of this Fall tour are by Bear. Please revisit Dicks Picks vol. 23, Baltimore 9/17/72

Houston '72 release was from 11/18 not 11/19

Shwak - it was portion of 11/18 that was released in 2014. I have the CD release, 1 disc, short but sweet. Current JOTW is the Playing from that release. 11/19 is untouched as to any release. A lot of Fall Texas Dead featured by Dave last little bit. Hopefully 11/19/72 gets Plangent and Norman soon!

Week of December 30, 2024-January 5, 2025

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where we roll into the Grateful Dead’s 60th year in 2025 with music from 1972, 1973, and 1980.

Our first stop this week is in Houston on 11/19/72 where we have this outstanding sequence to end the second set: Dark Star > Weather Report Suite Prelude > Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo ; Around And Around; Big Railroad Blues; Sugar Magnolia.

Next up is first set music from 11/23/73 in El Paso, where the Dead play El Paso, amongst lots of other great tunes: Jack Straw; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; Big River ; Row Jimmy ; Weather Report Suite Prelude > Weather Report Suite Part 1 > Let It Grow.

Our last stop this week is on 11/26/80 in Pembroke Pines, FL, where we have the start of the second set until the tape cuts: Cold Rain And Snow; Samson And Delilah; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider> Estimated Prophet.

Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.

David Lemieux

With a tasty Phil solo, then Phil & Bill, then a sweet jam. Wow!
Cheers
