My first show...
Wow, my first dead show... I was in Junior year of HS.Mama, mama, many worlds have come since.... well, since this show...
Nice first show huh?
I was psyched to see the Satisfaction/Brokedown Palace hit the Tapers Section... well deserved too... you could feel the Garden rocking and then Jerry ended the night, leaving us floating home...
I would see (only) another 30 shows... many at the Garden, but none like this...
Does anybody remember........
The power went out for several seconds during the Half Step. The band never missed a beat. I got to see this several other times. ( Merriweather Post 83' and Raleigh 90' ) Awesome show. I got to see the two nights before - Cole Field House and MSG - A very nice run of shows for a college kid from NC. ;) ps - check out the Brown Eyed.

I need this show
Just saw DSO play this show and it is incredible! Wish I was around to see the "real" show. When they played it must have been the roses, I almost cried...miss you j-bear! ;o(Does anyone know where I can download this show? Its not on livedownloads or further net. Please help me! email me jwheelfan03@gmail.com if you have any ideas. Thanks so much!
sunshine daydream!!
What a sweet show...
This was my fourth; went in with my friend Hecto-Bock (where are you now, Chuck?). Reagan was the newly-minted (oldly minted?) President. I was not yet 18 and so could not vote against the cretin.
This was such a warm, fuzzy night, it all comes back to me. I had my camera with me and will post photos asap; not the best, but good for the historical value. Jerry was not wearing his traditional black T-shirt; he had on more of a flowing, long-sleeved black shirt. remember the huge Steal Your Face above the stage?
The mess-up at the beginning of 1/2 Step sounds like Jerry pulled his amp over - you can hear the reverb go ccllllaaaannnnngggg!!! But he pulls out of it right quick. Franklin's makes that une 4 for 4 for me. Not bad thing! Scarlet/Fire is sweet, typical of early '81, and the wheel was just absolutely jubilant.
jwheelfan03, seek and ye shall find - there are several recordings of this show in the Internet Archive; a real nice Steve Rolfe Aud mastered by Charlie Miller, and also a Barry Glassberg Aud, but I haven't listened to that one.
Brown-eyed women and red Grenadine, the bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean... Ahhh, those were the days...

My 21st Birthday
Drove to NYC to celebrate my 21st birthday with the Dead; and what a celebration it was! Fabulous show. Raffled off some "bags" to pay for the trip. I too would love a copy of this show!
You never forget your first
and oohhhhhh what a sweet one it was. Got there during Mississippi Half-Step, and I immediately felt the spirit. I've heard the recording. What a wonderful show. Wouldn't trade the memory for anything.
