Spanish Other One
Always missing in the setlist & notes from this show is the "Spanish Jam" vs. "Other One" duel that emerged from "Space." It's short, but very nice. With Weir & the drummers laying down the "Spanish Jam" rhythm, Jerry spins some Latin-flavored "Other One" riffs. The first verse of "The Other One" is, in fact, "The Spanish One."

Sting was summer '93. Steve Miller was '92. You're right about the "Step Back" though...it was a good one. "This is the way the entire surface of the Earth is going to be in twenty years!"
The best worst Time
Fortunately we just dosed when we left the show, about 12:30 a.m. Unfortunately we didn't get back to the camp site until about 3:30 a.m. It should''ve taken about 1/2 hr. But we got lost, as I'm sure many other people did, driving the dark back roads of Buffalo. What a blast though in the van. Felt sorry for our driver but we were having the best worst time driving around for three hrs. It was the best worse time ever!!!!!!!!!

Babb O'reiley...I just didnt' get it. I still don't . I thought I remembered Broken Arrow in there too.

Take a step back was definatley before Ramble on. Check out Jerry's MIDI saxophone in the ultra jazzy Estimated, the show's highlight. I saw heads looking at the stage for Branford through thier binoculars.
What a waste...
This show was the pits. My highlight was hearing the Casey Jones in the parking lot that they soundchecked in the afternoon. The show was totally uninspired and weak. Kind of obvious from the fact that other folks are talking about how sweet the "Take A Step Back" was. This show was a far cry from the magic that occurred here two years earlier. Kind of sad really, Summer '92 almost made me hang it up for good, that is until I heard the Dean Dome shows from Spring '93 on tape...
My Birthday Show!
How could you not have a good time on your Birthday!
It was sweet being back in Buffalo for these shows after moving to the West Coast in 1991. Jerrys talking during Take a Step Back was for sure memorable and then he let it rip with Ramble On Rose and a very sweet Let It Grow to end the set! A highlight for sure.
The 2nd set Aiko Estimated was also rippin too!
Of course when my friends got the whole back side of the floor singing Happy Birthday to me during intermission, that was pretty sweet too! Thanks Marty Gilano!

Best Show Ever
Absolutley perfect and magical ...1st show I bought a clay mushroom necklace and kept running into people that were wearing them... Steve "livin in the USA" Miller was the opener (sting was '93) I was squeezed in the front row and there was no way of getting out of there..Learned a whole bunch and loved every minute of it...Iko Iko..was a blast and Baba O Riley was unreal. I have a video of the 2nd set...totally cool.
I was singing metallica on the way up, but singing Truckin' on the way home...
Only bad thing about it is no other show has taken it to that level...AlthoughThe Other Ones 7/5/1998 (Sun.) Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY was pretty profound for me as well.....

Definitely NOT Sting...
As the OP mentioned, it was definitely NOT Sting. It was Steve Miller. Great, great show. I believe there were 85,000 of us there that night.Jerry was very clear that night, and the Dead played a fantastic set.
Real Dud
This show was a real sleeper. Was on the floor with my buddy Joe but this show never took off. Some kid od’d in a van next to our other friends parking spot after the show, so sad. The scene was still cool but nasty substances were starting to show up everywhere. The start of the end if you ask me, but the upcoming Albany shows were great...
This was my first show
I was 13 and was driven up in a Volkswagen truck bus that was blue. I was handed a large amount of psilocybin.
I was in the stands when Steve miller band opened up, but made it to the floor when the Grateful Dead came on stage
A naked Viking fell on top of me. Some guy shared pistachios with me.
Most importantly, some random guy had a dozen leather red roses that he was going to give to Jerry and he gifted me one blue rose, which I still have today
