    Raven?
sfox53 I don't recall for sure- but one of the shows at the Civic Center had a really neat Edgar Allen Poe tribute during "Space" .. they did a couple lines from "The Raven".. So after- on the way back to the car- we walked by Poe's grave..really weird..

I think I remember David saying on this broadcast that he was featuring all that existed of a SDB from this night: Dancin,' Sugaree, El Paso, FOTD.

I was at the show with my friends Metro & Amy - (God rest his soul!)I got into a hassle with a security guard who ripped my "vintage" Neil Young t-shirt. Needless to say, Sugaree was the last I saw that night. Spent the remainder in the pokie. I have some aud of this show but it's not good. Looking for better. As per my friends the show jammed, esp. the second set. The next day I took a bus to DC for the "NO NUKES" rally with Jackson Brown.

Back in the day I organized bus trips from Queens to wherever the dead took us. This wasn't the first one but it was the best. Forty 18/20 year olds ready for anything. Bus arrives 2 hours late. When we leave the aisle has coolers from the front to the back- where the bathroom is. Early on we decide to take the Bay bridge-tunnel. As we're cruising we find out that our bus drivers name is Johnny- yea Johnny B Goode. We get to the toll booth and find out its 20something('79 $) to get over. Well it took 20 minutes or so to get everyone to give up their change and have the tolltaker count it and off we go.... Midway through one of the bridges JBG decides to pass a car on the bridge!!! One lane each way of course. After that I went to the back of the bus, I thought it migh be safer.Arrived in one piece to the show. show was wonderful. Back to the bus in the pouring rain. Next morning we are ready to go to Baltmore. Had to wait several hours to leave Va while repairs were completed on the bus. Get to Baltimore and have fun downtown, see another wonderful show. This time we get back on the bus and we tell JBG to stop off and get some beer for the ride home. JGB's next line stayed with the heads that were there forever "I don't know what you guys are on but we ain't gettin' any beer" We tried to plead with him but JGB didn't stop for beer. He must have been rattled because when we entered I-95 to go back home he entered the exit ramp and drove all the way to the end of the ramp before he realized he was heading into oncoming traffic. He had to back down the lllooonnnggg ramp!! The bus rides were fun but the 79 hampton/baltimore was never topped. Also one of the few times the trips to and from the shows was stranger then the trips inside.

Post-show, a police car was parked directly in front of the Civic Center and somebody artfully poured chartreuse colored day-glo paint over the blue stobe light on the roof. The paint was seeping down onto the white roof and the reflections of the streetlights off the bleeding colors was inspirational, so a group of anywhere from 10-15 people (it has been 30 years and you know how we tend to exaggarate in our old age)gathered around the car and somebody had a camera and took the picture. If you can share anything about this event I would love to know if you can track down that picture!! For this reason it gets five stars! Audience participation.
