    Cut from the 'Silver' album
    This number really epitomizes the 70's sound to me. If it's sound is not a time capsule back 30 years I don't know what is. Brent really sounds like somebody from back then.....Dan Fogelburg?

    David, Thank you for the work you do; and the generosity you show through your vocation. Though I am old enough to have been on the bus from the start, I had a later in life intro to the Dead; and that intro was provided by the Grateful Dead Hour. Imagine me in 1996 or so, after seeing my one show in Pittsburgh 6-30-95, and discovering this wondrous, amazingly performed music! The euphoria of that discovery never would have come, but for your sharing: which introduced me to this world I so love now. Thank you, again, David.

Brent was more than a little light. Thanks Gans, good job. "If the forms of this world die, which is more real, the me that dies or the me that's infinite? Can I trust my habitual mind, or do I need to learn to look beneath those things?"

The Brent era was the best overall vocal sound and best overall band sound. Now, they didn't jam like they did in '69 or 72-74, but he added so much color and the band just sounded wonderful. You were the best Brent.

You gotta love her call, so sweet. Every time I hear it, I feel like she's talking to me, when she says, "love you all..." makes me feel good, even though it's just my imagination, once again. I remember listening to this on KPFA at the time and listening to it now takes me right back. I'm old enough to remember Keith and Pigpen, this was just as sad. All the keyboard players brought so much into the band and I loved them all. Still do. As sad as it may seem the music still makes me feel good. Thanks David!!!

I was finishing up a month long bike trip and was in a van headed into San Francisco of all places when we heard the news about Brent on the radio. The Height was in morning. Thanks David for all the years (and tapes!)
