Since things seem to have gone a bit haywire with the old New Vines topic, I'm starting a new one. Here's the basic info on what the deal is with vines, for those just joining us: With collaboration from various kind folks in the Dead.net vining community, our own erickat prepared this handy guide explaining how vining works hereabouts. Many thanks to all involved, and vine on! -- Dead.Net Vines - What It Is & How It Works BACKGROUND: The concept of a "vine" is music sharing through conventional means (e.g. mailing cd's or dvd's) with the sign-up list being on-line. The basic idea is that someone starts (seeds) a vine, made up of one or multiple shows,and sends it via mail to the first person who signs up. That person makes a copy for themselves and sends the ORIGINAL media on to the next person on the list. As more people sign up, it continues to grow and grow - hence the name "vine". Star Wars Video Vine

This is in honor of the Dave's Picks Volume 1 release. I think its a great show and probably my favorite year. The same night of this stellar show Star Wars A New Hope opened in theaters. This will be a DVD vine with two different movies. 01. Star Wars Holiday Special - The show was broadcast in its entirety only once, in the United States and Canada, November 17, 1978, on the U.S. television network CBS. The high point of the special is generally considered to be the animated segment produced by Nelvana known as "The Faithful Wookiee". Not only does the cartoon introduce Boba Fett, but his jet pack and rope gun as well, which are not used again in the movies until Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi four and a half years later. The only copies that circulate are from fans that recorded the show. 02. Star Wars Spoofs - This is a great compilation video of Star Wars related tv shows. My favorites are The Muppet Show with Luke, CP3O and R2D2 and a short called Troops. A "COPS" parody that takes place on Tatooine during the time Luke spent with Ben Kenobi. possible vines

Any interest in a vine of Dire Straits and/or The Police? I've acquired quite a few really nice-sounding shows from these bands. I will be burning some discs for a good friend here and it would be efficient to burn discs for a vine here at the same time.

this is probably a function of which of the many different options you use to access the topics. But, for the record, this topic is designated as sticky, so it should be showing up, and you were able to post in it, so it's active.

Important distinction between All Recent Posts/My Recent Posts

The former, you don't have to be logged in for, and for that reason, in my opinion, it's pretty useless. The latter, on the other hand, will show you what's had activity since you were last logged in, in the order of most recent. I note, for example, that this topic is showing up as most recent in my My Recent Posts, because I just posted in it. All Recent Posts is marginally useful if you're just checking in from the net, but if you're looking to participate, log in already. Thank you.

This site is much harder to use now!

I don't log on anywhere near as often as I did in the past. Too many changes that really didn't offer any improvements at all. Only made things much harder. I am grateful for all the great music I was able to get during the past year. I still check for PM's occasionally. Let me know If I can do anything for you. Some great people here too!!
