    Groundhog Day?
No Bill? No Larry? WTF? At times like these, I find comfort in movies. Today's selection, "Groundhog Day". Rita (Bill playing the part): Would you like to come to dinner with Larry and me? Phil: No thank you. I've seen Larry eat. "Winter, slumbering in the open air, wears on its smiling face a dream... of spring. Ciao!"

I'm glad to see it. I don't remember band members doing a benefit for a candidate before. Yes, things are this bad that old disputes will be put aside for the common good. No Billy or Larry C.. anecdotal evidence suggests there are some fairly seriously steamed local Deadheads for Obama who discovered, when they called in promptly at 5 p.m. when tix went on sale, that there were none to be had. Inasmuch as they could have easily sold out the Civic for this, and made lots more money and garnered lots more support for Obama (Webcasts are not a substitute on any level, though obviously they're nice as archives), we are mostly sitting around being shut out and going WTF?

My husband and I just barely missed getting tix for the Deadheads for Obama show on ticketmaster.com. We are desperately seeking tickets! Does any one have any extra? We need two, but contact us even if you have just one ! We have compensation for your troubles and your tix! Leave us a message on this site with your email and I will immediately contact you! Thanks so much! Kick Down So We Can Get Down!Love and Light! Cosmic Charlies Angel

I just read your latest comment. I suppose we more than just missed getting tickets for this event. And yes they should have definitely held it at a larger venue. Perhaps the Warfield was just willing and able in the timeframe provided. My husband and I have been waiting oh so patiently and it is disappointing to think that we might be left out in the cold. We will still be outside like so many others will with hope of making it inside to shake our bones! Release more tickets! Bobby, Phil, Mickey and Billy need to get together for a tour. Just wondering, but why couldn't all registered users have received an email alert about the announcement? That would have been nice. Somewhat impossible to take a shot at a ticket now... Oh well, you folks going have a grand time and savor it!

I got the news of the show at 4:30 in the afternoon, at which time i rushed myself and my friends to the check cashing place to buy "pre-paid" credit cards. We were out of there by 5, and home by 5:15, only to find out that the show was sold out. I lost sleep over it, and now i have to vent my frustration. Why, would the boys do a show that was ticketmaster only? That effectivly eliminates a large part of their most deadicated fans from seeing what they call a "one-time event". Many of which do not have computers or credit cards, often a side effect from a life on the road, a life they created for us. The tickets were not available through the phone either, believe me i called at 5pm on the dot. It makes me wonder how ticketmaster got the exclusive rights to tax every ticket that was sold. Now i have to compete with people on craig's list who are offering $500 for a pair of tickets. I've waited four years for this and now, once again, i am given the giant middle finger by corporate america. How about a free show in the park to raise support for a candidate instead of a venue that only holds... 2,250 people. I actually heard there was a knife fight infront of the warfield when the box office opened up yesterday. I dont understand why they are doing this, the way they are doing this... I DON'T WANNA WORK ON MAGGIE'S FARM ANYMORE!

Great that these top flight musicians are getting together. But why waste opportunities in the Godless name of politics? It's such a joke. A bad joke. Watch what happens when... In a hundred years of supporting candidates for offices, has ANY one bastard or bitch ever lived up to thier laughable promises?

peace through music Well, well, well! Woodyinthebasement, know that you are not alone in recommending that they come together at the right time, which is always, right now.I've been trying to tell them for years.....
Since I have this preconceived notion that Deadheads are usually in a higher awareness state of mind, In which case I may not often be right, let's get down and dirty. Always awake, always around, they've stolen the last two elections what's different about this one? A woman or a black man will run against a white war hero, John McCain. You will be told that oh well, America must have elected him, because the other candidate was a woman or a black man and darn, people, the American people were not ready for that. It's no longer We the People who make the decisions on the Presidential election level. The popular vote stopped counting long ago. Make sure to keep voting,to make sure that your voice is heard and to let it be known that the number of people who beleive in the true America the Beautiful is great and will never be supressed!

I still have my pin. When he announced that he was running I was about 20 feet from the podium. It was fucking wild. He would have been a good president but the media fucked him. His rant wasn't that bad.

dont remember that the GD were a band of muppets, who just did what their wise rulers (TheHeads)have decided, for ex.the heads could decide that they have to play free,or as long as the public decides.when everybody has spoken they can go home...its just incredible, there comes a concert which is ultraunique, and up show the people who(because THEY didnt get a ticket)starts to expose superegotrips ......maybe these people should decide to wake jerry from the dead.and anyway under what name the reunion should be..The Whitehouse Dead?????? P.S.Wake up guys,it will be live on internet, just hang the homecinema.boxes on the comp and up goes a good ole GD party!!!!!!

I hate to crash the party, but Obama? As it goes, "please don't dominate the rap jack if you got nothin' new to say." Obama is the same as Hilary, it's the same old allegiances. Please do some research. He's CFR, He's AIPAC, he's got cha fooled. This is not a presidential race, it's a revolution. Please follow the Dead AND follow your heart. There's a revolution going on following the freedom message carried by Ron Paul. Google it. America: Freedom to Fascism. Ron Paul. The End of America. Real ID Act. Patriot Act. Votefraud. There is a Red pill, it's not fun, but it's our duty. We get the government we deserve. If we don't participate, we will get just that. I've been following this for some time now and "if I told you all that went down, it would burn off both your ears." Get involved.

I didn't get tickets, either... but I ain't belly-achin'. Of course, I wish I could be there... but am Gr8ful to get to check it out on the Web. And, seems to me, that the scene started to go south when it got too big. Big venues led to bad seats, worse sound, and more assholes coming just to "party" and not for the music. And we all remember where that led. All said, I support these guys playing where ever they damn well want whenever they damn well feel like it. If I get to vote, I say the Warfield is better than Bill Graham Auditorium. Better acoustics. Nicer venue. Fact is... ain't a seat for everyone anywhere short of Kezar, Candlestick, PacBell, whatever stadium. Now, if they could only add a holographic Jerry, and have the boys play live to some recorded killer Jerry leads. They could have a hologroaphic '67 Jerry playing "Top of the World -> Viola Lee Blues -> Caution -> Cryptical -> Other One -> Cryptical -> Cream Puff War. '72 Jerry crying a Morning Dew after landing from Dark Star, etc., etc., etc. with Bob, Phil, Billy and Mickey playing live. Add Bruce Hornsby and you got something going on!!! Could have a holographic Pig belting out the blues next to the holographic Jerry, and the live boys. Aint' nothing else shaking so you might just as well.

Good for the boys for getting off their butts and continuing to contribute... As for doodahman above...Is your boy McCain as much of a #^&%* as you, who is so lame that he can only go on someone else's website and spread hate? Sounds like a losing world view - not to mention a bad campaign strategy. Wasn't he the one preaching about not going negative...Why don't you follow his lead?

"When you get confused listen to the music play" Why Obama? Not that he's a bad candidate, but I would think the boys would support the Green Party more than the Democrats. Obama has publicly declared he will not support relegalization of Marijuana, though he has said he would stop the DEA raids on medical dispensaries, as has Hillary. With the petro chemical dollars behind both of them, I'm surprised at this. What's up? Have I missed something? Skywolf
