    What a wonderful month it's been, sharing our love of the Grateful Dead through song and video! We applaud all the hard work and effort that you, the fans, put into the DEAD COVERS PROJECT, and we hope you'll continue to watch and support all the amazing participant videos on YouTube until we fire up the DEAD COVERS PROJECT again next February.

    Throughout the month of April, we'll be shining our lovelight on a handful of artists that really made the grade. You'll get to know each of these five artists and find out just what made them connect with the Dead in our exclusive DEAD COVERS PROJECT profiles, but for now we'd simply like to congratulate the following participants (in no particular order)...

    Embed Code Width
    Critter,thanks for the kind words and thanks for the tip on changing the width on the embed code to 400. I couldn't figure that out for anything. Now that I've posted my song I can't wait to hop on the other links and check out everybody else's music. What a great website!!!

    How to Embed
    Ok, I've been asked a few times (ok like 12 already, but hey I love Deadheads) on how to embed a video, and unfortunately, most people don't take the time to copy and paste these days.....so if you want your video to be seen on this thread you must do this.....as I've wrote 12 kind folk on this site so far..... Hey now Dead.Net, Hope you have a grateful day....I'm just gonna paste what I've wrote others to help you out. You need to go to the youtube/vimeo/etc video you want and right click and pick Copy Embed html. Something like that....what you need to do is right click on the "you tube" video and click copy embed html. it should look like this....I took out a few things so you could actually see what it is. object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9FaFvhiWOOk?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9FaFvhiWOOk?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360" I took out the symbols that make it embed but you can see those if you right click and copy and paste the html embed code. One thing you have to change is the width of the project or movie, they have it set at 640 and the biggest you can go is 400 on this site.....Hope that helps. THIS IS KEY! So in essence you all have enough videos on here, just don't paste the URL...paste the EMBED CODE with the changes of width from 640 (or something like that) to 400!!!! EJOYA. Love is real. ~Critter

Local L.A. band DOG GONE has covered a number of Dead tunes. The core of the band has always been Daniel Raznick and Hal Masonberg on lead guitar and rhythm guitar respectively. I've posted some of our Dead covers up on Youtube. Since each incarnation of the band has a somewhat different sound, I've posted a couple of versions of our EYES OF THE WORLD-> BIRD SONG as they are, truly, two different animals. Plus, one is video of us live, while the other is also from a live gig, but the image is some fun psychedelic imagery to accompany the sounds. Same with the SCARLET BEGONIAS. Some of our faves. Since the Dead covered this Dylan tune AND released a live cut of it (Postcards from the Hanging), I guess that means it falls under the general rules of "either written by or recorded by the Dead." At least I hope it does :) Here's DOG GONE's version of SHE BELONGS TO ME.

I think it's appropriate, and perhaps even long overdue. Given the difficulty of finding people who can play Grateful Dead songs at all, other than campfire versions of simpler things. Since living in or near a city is almost a pre-requisite for playing any kind of rock, let alone alternative music, it's gonna be a mighty hard row to hoe for me, but it doesn't say specifically you have to have a band. I spent from January through July trying to put a group together, all to no avail, so someone will have to suffer through, however briefly, my solo attempts, because this is TOO FREAKIN' GOOD to pass up. Having said that out loud, i will now of course find myself working overtime through the next Further tour. Everybody that can play - get out and do this - it'll be Go-o-od for you! "Althea told me, now cool down, boy, settle back, easy - Jim".

This is my band Hyryder from Indianapolis and a complete set from July of this year at the Jerry birthday show. Deal has always been an important song to me. The day Jerry died I was on vacation in Hawaii. I was in a Van on my way to go parasailing and the driver was listening to the radio. The song playing on the radio was "Deal" i thought to myself "wow what a cool radio station" But after the song ended the dj came on to share the news of Jerry's passing. The station was playing all Dead, all day as a tribute, but Deal has always stuck out as the last Dead song I heard before I heard the tragic news that changed everything forever......

so far not much is showing up at www.youtube.com/gratefuldead but if you search youtube for DeadCoversProject it returns 25 pages of results - since my video only shows up in the latter I'm hoping you guys are aware of all the other entries and it would be nice if you let everyone see em all. thanks for doing this

As a video artist, I'd love to see a parallel project in which video artists were invited to make videos using music from their favorite Dead, Furthur, Phil, Ratdog performances

Love the Videos and I hope you all figured out how to embed by now....Everyone learned well....except for the part about the dimensions....only thing you have to do (and you can edit your comments if you need to) is change the dimensions of the width......you should have no greater than 400 for the Width! Whatever the number says in the embed code you should change it to 400 or less. I think I answered everyone who wanted to know how to embed, but if not you can always PM or email me. Anyway.....I've got some things looking good coming up it looks like for this contest, can't wait. Looks Like Furthur is playing with The Allman Brothers at Wanee Music Festival in 2012 (wohoooooo!) So here's a teaser I did for the kids in 2011 down at the Suwanee River to get exctied. And the portrait of the famous Calveras County Festival 2010 ~Furthur Fest Can't wait to get to work on these actual band videos! I'm looking forward to it. ~Critter

here are my kids singing birdsong right after amy winehouse died (i thought of jerry on the train saying "Janis, i have always loved you") our favorite bakery out in the country has an awesome open mic every sunday
