The Dead No Longer Were Grateful
For me personally, the Grateful Dead did not have any one single, indispensable member, without whom the band would cease to be the Grateful Dead, and that included even Jerry Garcia. So I would list the two Irvine Meadows shows I went to, 09/18/03, and 06/24/04, and consider those my 24th and 25th Dead concerts.
Caught the last ones here
Went to the 1989 run here. This venue is easy to get to off I-405 or I-5 It was well planned out for traffic way back when and even when we got to the last run of shows it was apparent that the cops or security were not going to rush us out of the parking lot. Good seats with good views (saw one show in the 8th row and saw Bob N Rob the following year in the orchestra section) The lawn isnt too slanted so you could still dance and not fall into someone. Great venue!
So many shows, such little time
The greatest thing about living in San Fran in the 80's and early 90's was the Dead played so many shows in Cali!!
Going through these shows and remembering how many I went to is blowing my mind. I knew I saw them a boatload of times but I never thought this many.
My first show
Got a sunday miracle- cosmic charlie gave me his ticket and I danced to the stage... U know I was hooked!

Does anyone else rememebr seeing this from the parking lot before the show? It was either '88 or 89'.
My Backyard
I actually bought a house in the hills above Irvine Meadows, a mere two miles from backstage, and lived there through all these shows. Great memories of meeting a beautiful blonde in the beer garden, we were both very dosed and met again in the parking lot and helped her find her lost truck aboard the back of my Harley... up and down her carpeted halls!
See ya down the road,
Boxcar

My First Dead Show
Yes Traffic was Hell ! But on a Harley you could split lanes.I was offered Doses ? not accepting ,didn't know what it was ?
I had a Great time ! I lived in Costa mesa at the time. Remember when lion country safari was next door ?
Non ticket holders were getting in Free by lifting up the chain link fence, behind the bathrooms above the lawn section.Security didn't have a clue, team effort !! I don't think the lions and tiger got them. I was hooked ! loved the tape-recorders on broom sticks. All the nice scents Aw .I remember
one of my favorites!
They just ripped it up on this one what a strange trip it was!
Dig it we came, we partied and I got left behind and kidnapped!
Was so cool to be whisked away in Vw bug by two friends, when tripping balls and the cops are on the rampage. killer show!
This set of shows was epic!
One way to spend a killer week end is to be with great friends and a dead show, ahh those were the days. Sure wish we could relive this again!
So bad, so good!
I think we sneaked into this one. opps sorry dudes, where do I pay you back? I still have stickers and rips in my jeans form that one. weren´t there lions and alligators in there as well?
