`One of the best shows ever. The last time I saw Dick was at a Border Legion show, and I brought this up. He said it was overrated. I asked him how many people thought he was a dunce for that. He told me he was going to release it as the next pick. Then he passed.
This show had energy in it's energy. The Garden was a tiny place with the tightest nit grooviest audience ever. It was special.
Not just the Scarlet>Fire-- some other great stuff
I was fortunate to attend this very fun, high-energy show. The "Scarlet>Fire" was stunning at the time-- and lives up the hype. But the first-set "Ramble on Rose" was terrifically funky, "Attics" was beautiful, and the post-"Corrinna" jam was unique. There's a certain looseness throughout the show, which is symptomatic of late-era Dead. But you'll also get some amazingly spooky moments. I still think this was one of the two most enjoyable, most memorable Dead shows I saw. PS: if you're not moved by the closing charge at the end of "Fire," well, I can't help you. But I'm of the opinion that even ardent detractors of 90's Dead will get excited by that jam.
Last Run
These MSG shows were the last run of shows before I got off the bus on Oct. 19th. This show is excellent, in my opinion, and has been getting alot of run on my iTunes.
The first part of the second set is great and I love the post Corrina jam (and this version of Corrina for that matter).
"What d'ya gotta say Vinne?" chirps Bobby towrds the end of Queen Jane.
