    ...and after "put it on the plastic and I wonder where we''ll be when the bills hit", they found out. People got married, got careers, had babies and went through raw life. Attitudes change even as they still love the same music. Accept that pure long-hair hippie behavior is hard to find -- even at a Rainbow Gathering. Rather than complain, gravitate toward the people who are kind and stick with them. I don't know who passes that litmus test in the chat room. Chat room nerds tend to dominate the medium. I am reminded of going to a reunion of a fraternal organization wen I go to Dead/Furthur related events. I therefore don't expect to find the good-old-days in the chat room. Even some people who post in the forums here are right-wing-nuts and pro nuclear power now... What can you do? Marye does a good job keeping order here. The chat room is a strange beast to tend to. Still, no need to despair! ~ When Quinn the Eskimo gets here, everybody's gonna wanna dose! ~

    I'm not a chat room regular, but I had a great time there last night, on and off for a couple hours as I did other work. Only positive conversations, thanks to mona, gamedad, david, twirlingirl and many others. Good storytelling! I don't often have time to chat, but sometimes I'll have a peek and if it's a conversation of interest and i feel like i have anything to contribute, I'll take a chance. For those with negative experiences, i can sympathize. But one strategy that i'd suggest is one I use with telemarketers. Hang up. You don't need to give jerks your energy. Just drop them and they'll have no one to talk to except their lonely self. As for the privacy, I'm not too concerned about joking around under alias. It's all fiction as far as i'm concerned. So, just wanted to say.. it's not all bad.

    It used to be that rock and roll was a world event , but it now sounds like a provencial habit for a small american club. The Rolling Stones stayed a planetary happening, and it would be ridiculous to resume it to a british only local band .Rock and roll used to be about rebels who had enough understanding about the world and dared to think for themselves, but this deadheads scene narrowed its views to think as their tv tell them to ! When hippies have the same opinions as their tv, it's called brainwashing, but as lilly said , it's useless to say different as no one wants to hear it and whoever has any opinion other than what 's approved is unwelcomed ! To top it all , me who used to travel with deaheads anywhere , days and nights, never planning ahead how and with who, because i was certain to always be with decent people around me , now i refuse to go anywhere with any of them ! That resumes clearly what's going on nowadays ! This chatroom clarified that , definitly .

    well it is a sad day when the poison starts to spread to reasonable people with good intentions and kind hearts. All the more reason to stay away. I don't think a chatroom 'community' is like any other community. It is not typical and not representative of deadheads or humanity as a whole. Its members are self selected, with their own reasons and motivations for being somewhere where they can be anonymous and unaccountable. Sometimes those motivations are benign, but they can also be disturbing. I am particularly suspicious of anyone who does not ever post on the forums. Best just stay away.

    sound very full of bitter "narrow minded intolerance" to me. Sounds to me like you really want to be able to chat, otherwise you would not have posted what you did. So instead of throwing such harsh words around, why don't you try to accept what is and hold onto the "30%" that you feel is in there. Or if you can't, then do something else. But postings like this one aren't going to help anything. This community is human, just like any other-with strengths and weaknesses.     Since early 80's i loved deadheads,so when i discovered this deadnet chatroom i thought i could renew frienships i had when in america .But now, after months gone by, i know all these great deadheads never go in there. Too many mean and vicious obsessional haters in there , as if playing with evil became a routine to spice shallow postures of "peace and love" bla bla .Coupled to the indifference cop out of those who never take a stand against the worse, the narrow-minded intolerance , bored druggies and warped drunks pretending their foul behaviors should always be excused simply because they like GD music ,enough is enough ! Whatever is left nowadays of the Greateful Dead , I don't recognize it most of the time, as music nor as people ! Sure , it's still ok for about 30%, but compared to the the 95% goodness I was used to, methinks the standards now just won't do anymore Eternity was never guaranteed, I realize we have to each go on our own Way and i'll let the wheels of Times roll on .C'est comme ça , et pas autrement !

    I said this a year ago when I stopped using the chatroom . it took this long for others to notice. And yes it is sad as the chatroom was a haven for me when me wife had her surgery and I had to stay home all the time . Thank goodnes that is all done now .

Why don't we have a section for song parodies?? ******************* personally, I do not care if someone wishes to call themselves Jesus Christ as their board name, but I wonder if it is in good taste?? being a rude, crude guy myself, even this miffs me a bit; just knowing that some folks take their faith and religion seriously, and I would hope everyone would respect peoples space about serious stuff like that. the fact that it is ALL over is another bummer. I hope the mods would just clean it up so we do not have to waste time seeing it again and again. it did seriously bum me out to be accused of being that poster in a pm, but that is ok, I've been dissapointed and bummed out plenty of times by those I 'thought' I knew. it is either an internet troll or a total nut or someone just trying to stir the pot. I'll say it again, ignore it; which I was doing until I got accused in a pm, and somewhat less clearly accused on the forum itself. there is, of course, a simple way to know exactly who it is, if the site administrators or if the Mods access to the ISP numbers, (internet server provider) numbers, it is ever so easy to trace who it is. proxy servers do not hide that kind of thing, either, so a kind chide might be in order. just a thought there. I think it would be hard for anyone to be funny posting as 'Jesus Christ' though I am sure the real Jesus had a sense of humor. did I ever tell you the joke about the priest, the rabbi, the mullah and the drunk off duty cop?? peace

long ago when a jehovah's witness came to the door, I would ask if they could name the 12 disciples. Many came, none entered,,,maybe we put JC to the test. Hey Ya'll...I've been reading through the forums lately probably like most everyone else and seeing all this JC activity and just pondering the bad vibes...I guess I've been torn like most with the same dilemma we all must face from time to time questioning my feelings toward someone else stirring up my shit when it is usually me doing the shit stirring... I'm right with you CCj, I was asking myself all the same questions about being miffed at this mystery guest using a name, a word, to drive a point home about something I can't even follow anymore, because as a card carrying rude crude shit stirrer in the flesh, I guess I should be open to any and all good healthy shit stirring... in recent years I have taken to questioning my own paradigm rather than that of the shit stirrer before going on the offensive about anything, and in recent years I have hardly ever gone on the offensive about anything...its great not being offensive...but the thing is that eventually you come across a situation that just doesn't seem to come full circle...I mean, even if I don't agree with the shit being stirred, eventually I agree with and respect the point of view of the people stirring the shit for whatever reason, and that helps me reach inner peace as well as outward tolerance...the thing I just can't seem to nail down about this JC is that he seems to be opposed to people chatting about good intentions toward a cause, recently he has taken issue with the bickering on the site as well...okay, all in the name of good ole healthy positive shit stirring I guess...but the thing that really gets me is this thing about posting these grand statements to all of us on each forum so that we don't miss it, who knows, but the thing is that posting those things all over other people's areas is just plain stepping out of bounds...I don't know if this JC is aware of the effect that kind of thing has as far as setting himself outside the realm and really just scattering us all around inside here....its just not funny, nor is it getting across the message it claims to be promoting... the real JC never wrote his own gospel.....and I'm not sure but the last time I channeled Pigpen and asked him about the website his response to me was, "what the fuck is the internet?" I agree with JC about the bickering being a bummer, but I agree with everyone else on that one too....anyway, thats just my two cents...I like reading and chatting and stuff, but the JC BS is a little much....time to put on some good music, fire one up, and maybe play a little solitaire instead...I've just gotta have a break from the same ole thing over and over and over.... P.S. Ami, I like the name the 12 disciples question, thats a good one. I hope you don't mind if I use that one next time I get a Jehovah's witness...

Hi anyone have access to the concert channel and a DVD recorder. Apparently there is a Bruce Hornsby show from 16th October 1990 being shown on there, i saw him the following night in Essen Playing with the GOGD. you can buy a frozen margirita there in a plastic guitar cup thats about 20oz ! How lucky is that!! My sister took one sip of hers and poured it right down the front of herself LOL...we were laughing so hard we almost peed ourselfs..hehehehehe... I may not be drinking them..but ya never know ;) wink..

nice one buddy and you too CB. yas ,yas the new and improved version seems to be humming along nicely. excellent work jonathan,give that person a raise, er, praise,, yeah, yeah praise thats what i meant, good work,well done. however there has been one problem that i noticed while sitting lonely watching my last entery , no one to chat with! except for brief encounters which are fun while they last. and looking back in the log i see other enteries to the same effect, this , i'm sure will be fixed on the full release:). well back to the experiment, good dr., please set controls back 3 pass the lighter and hit the top green button! peace tc

but I've gotta say that song is not his finest. Of course, then there's "San Franciscan Nights," which is even worse. I think Eric's meetup with the '60s was not entirely felicitous. His bluesy stuff, awesome.

is when they made the short version, I dunno whether for radio or single or what, they cut the fabulous organ solo and my favorite verse in the whole thing, i.e. the one foot on the platform, the other foot on the train... Dunno if they did that in England, though.

Martin Scorsese used that song (and many others) to great effect in Casino... And yes, the long version of any song is much better. That's the way we roll... I remember when "Whole Lotta Love" came on the radio (KSAN of course) we always hoped it would be the long version...
