- mkavJoined:Circles Around the Sun
They are obviously solid, very tight musicians. However, I found their recorded music to be almost muzac for Deadheads...excellent background music played by exceptional musicians. Luckily, I had opportunity to catch a live show, and for $20, I gave it a shot. All I can say is "Wow"...extreme energy live...very tight, almost disciplined live, but also highly creative and improvisational. They played about 2 1/2 hours non-stop with VERY impressive jams. I highly recommend their live shows.
- Hawk TubleyJoined:You might want to check out…
You might want to check out Hawk Tubley & The Airtight Chiefs "Cooking With Dynamite!" - features Oteil on bass, Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra on sax, and other good musicians. A few GD references in the lyrics, too. It's on Spotify, Bandcamp, etc.

- JacobrJoined:Stephen Ingles. Cut the Dead some Slack
Thanks for the tip. In case you missed it, there's a short documentary out on Vimeo where Stephen talks to GD historian Blair Jackson while recording for the slack project out in CA: https://vimeo.com/223074777
It's really cool seeing two GD nerds discuss the project's background. David Gans also makes an appearance.
