    Universal
We had two tickets and three people. They were stamping peoples hands and soon as I walked in (got stamped) I turned back out and duplicated it on my baby sister's hand... she got in and it was a great show in a beautiful location.

    First T-Shirt
This is the show where I bought my first t-shirt. I still have it. It has the ACE album cover art on it. These shows were great!

    the Dead take requests...
One memory that stands in my mind from this night is that I walked up to stage right and asked Keith to play "Don't Ease Me In". They rolled right into it. So nice to have such a great band take requests that way. If they had a tip jar I would have put a dollar in.

My first Greatful Dead concert. This was way back before the Universal Amphitheatre had a roof. We sat to Jerry's right about a third of the way up. I seem to remember big stacks of amps and speakers. In my version of "Our Town" this is the day I would re-live.

Lloyd Thomas is right, the Amphitheater was outdoors back then. I was by myself, did a hit of white microdot. Some girls in the audience called out "Bobby cut his hair!"

They took the bottle from us when we went in, but security wasn't as Nazi-like then as it is now. After we got in, I went back and took my Southern Comfort from the entrance. Several of my friends were unable to attend this evening due to the vigilance of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Dept the night before, so we were upside down. I was shocked when years later they put a roof over the place--I recall all those shows having really nice weather. The cops just loved longhairs in those days.
