    Celebration!!!!
Finally, my daughter has given birth. 37 hours of labor, only to get a c-section.8lbs, 10 oz., 21 inches. Pretty big considering my daughter is about 5' and 100 lbs. Both mom and baby are doing weel, although a little tired.

it wasn't enough that the boys played absolutely steller shows both nights, and not enough that Jackie was a fucking HOT opening act, not enough that I met Jeff Chimenti outside te venue early afternoon on the 30th, not enough that the boys played well over 6 hours of MUSIC both nights, not enough that my old lady was literally brought to tears by the most excellent Dear Prudence, not enough that I ran into plenty of old friends and made some new ones, not enough that we was back in San Francisco after a ten year absence... but on exiting the show on NYE, being handed the spring tour notice; hmmm, that was the coconut cream icing on top of a very nice cake. nothing left to do but smile smile smile. of course we already have/had plans/ air tix, for April/May far far away from the US, but shiiiiiit; free mile tix can be cancelled, and plans can/will be changed. love and peace.

I own this issue-the one right after Jerry left us, along with several mint condition Tim Truman Grateful Dead comics. The Rolling Stone no longer mint-but intact. All this stuff been imported with me from the states to Europe. PM me if anybody interested in owning it, or for more details on the comics. Postage from europe would have to be included in selling price, but am open to negotiation. Hard times call for desperate measures. My visit to the doctor.
I happened to be in a doctor's waiting room recently, for reasons that don't need to be discussed here. This doctor is a general practitioner, and as luck would have it there were three pregnant women in the waiting room as well - must've been "Ultrasound Wednesday" or something. I tend to listen in on other people's conversations in situations like this; here is what I observed: One of the ladies was reading some new-agey magazine and remarked on the article she was reading. "This is kind of interesting" she said, "it says here that the gender of your child can to some extent be determined by the kind of lovemaking that led to the conception. I guess that means that I'll be having a little boy, because my husband was very manly and virile and totally ravished me when we made this baby." "That is interesting" said the lady to her left, "I suppose I will be having a girl then, because when my husband made love to me it was very gentle and sensitive, and he had lit candles and incense and sprinkled rose petals on the bed. Sounds like a girl for me." At this point the third lady burst into tears, sobbing loudly and moaning "Oh no, oh no". The first two pregnant ladies finally got her calmed down enough to talk (in situations like this, I try to turn invisible). "What's the matter, dear? Are you OK? Is there anything we can do?" Between sobs the distraught pregnant lady managed to get out: "I'm...I'm...I'm gonna have puppies!" (Cheers, TL!) ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************

getting about that time of year to head out on the road again for a few months... so for now, I'll leave you with this: CC's Gone CC's been drinking, out on a binge No reason why, but just on a whim Now he is shitfaced, on a plane Flying away, he's just insane And now CC's gone Now CC's gone, Lord he's gone CC's gone With an elbow bending, it's a binge in fact CC's gone, gone, but someday he'll be back CC's gone A member of the club 'Mile High' His old lady letting out a great big 'sigh' Playing 9 ball, he can't lose Nothing left to do but booze, booze, booze... And now CC's gone Now CC's gone, Lord he's gone CC's gone Going where the there is no rain at all On a dry farm until fall Dug one well, made a ditch The muscles in his back are starting to bitch Again, CC's been drinking, out on a binge No reason why, but just on a whim Now he is shitfaced, on a plane Flying away, he's just in-sane And now CC's gone Now CC's gone, Lord he's gone CC's gone Ooh, one day CC's gonna be back Ooh, one day CC's gonna be back Ooh, one day CC's gonna be back

I've thought about this situation on and off today with numerous different feelings / reactions and I'm going with my old standby: "You can only be a victim if you admit defeat" - Thats a line from a Descendents tune. The title of that song could be "Coolidge" but I'm not certain. Either way, the point remains that you and you alone are in control of how other's actions react with you. Its not the same thing as being "thick skinned". Its actually more like empathy. You need to step inside of his shoes for a minute and you'll probably find that you pity him much like Frodo and Bilbo pitied Smeagol. Face it, he made a deliberate attempt to mess with you and, to be perfectly honest, if I was looking at houses and I stumbled into a GD shrine complete with GD being played and posters, etc. I'd mess with the heads, too. Basically, because I'd have the understanding that deadheads are typically kind of out there and open to all kinds of kooky possibilities. However, I definitely wouldn't have made light of the passing of Jerry Garcia (rest his jammin' soul) out of respect for the heads in question. Yep, he did that to be a jerk and he succeeded, but we should all be laughing at his lack of understanding of the music. Which, while I'm philosophizing and quite loquacious, I'll add that deadheads are a potential turn-off for me sometimes. I just wanna hear the notes played. The kind of maniacally obsessive religiosity that some heads exude is simply too much for me at times. (some of you reading this may be in this category, but, for real, I mean no offense!) But hey, thats me. In fact, watching some of the footage of their shows lessens the musical effect for me, sometimes, but when I just put my ears on, well, shoot, I could listen for ages on end. I should shut up...now. | Wait until the veil is shredded, then reveal it |

I was thinking of getting a syf, as my second. my first i want to get as my 18th birthday gift at the famous miami ink.Peace, The Kid

yeah..miami ink are great, but the best on any good tatoo is that it comes out of your mind and phantasies and whatever, and than the guy making your tatoo becomes an artist..because he is able to get together your imagination and make it real with his handcraft.CC the one whos gone was pretty right, dont let yourself cover with black cats!:-)(-:

Cheryl Crow video called "Out Of Our Heads" a pretty cool song and they show Jerry in it giving a peace sign :) right after these lyrics...Every man is his own prophet Oh every prophet just a man I say all the women stand up, say yes to themselves Teach your children best you can Let every man bow to the best in himself We're not killing any more We're the wisest ones, everybody listen 'Cause you can't fight this feeling any more, oh anymore If we could only get out of our heads, out of our heads And into our hearts Children of Abraham lay down your fears, swallow your Tears and look to your heart

I just received the news the Philly Spectrum will be demolished early next year and be replaced with a mall and restaurants. "And the times they are a-changin". It was my home venue through high school in the 80's. A lot of good memories will go down with that building. The most memorable was in 1986. I was normally a hallway dancer, but this show I dug my way to about the 4th row in between Phil and Bob and and saw first hand Jerry lose touch with himself and his guitar totally took over his body. It was a Morning Dew out of space and Jerry did not look like the pillar of health coming out after drums. He was sweaty and shaking, but kicked into the most soulful rendition of Dew that I ever witnessed firsthand. (I believe it was my 1st Dew too). His guitar played him....I was convinced. I had tears in my eyes for the first time at a show. I was so blown away. Dew ended and the Band went off the stage. I didn't really comprehend the show was over, until the faithful in Philly started booing the Dead post encore. THE BOO'ed the DEAD. I was flabergasted. Never before and never again. Never a dull moment. I will miss the Filthy Spectrum.
