    Awesome show!
A friend had tickets and asked if I wanted to come along. Of course I said yes! I called out of work and hopped into his van and we took off. Four shows and a week and a half later I came back to Philly! It was the best time ever.

This was one of those rare bright blue sky, sun sunshiney days in Philly in the summer. I left work at noon, headed up 95 and knew it was gonna be good when I saw cars & vans parked on & under the overpasses. A huge crowd, great weather and the Grateful Dead playnig outside, it couldn't have been better. The next day the noon news had a little story about it and I showed my mom about where I was on the field, near the sound board, she just smiled and asked if I had fun. All I could smile and give her a hug. I guess it was fitting that Philly closed the field that week, it had already been condemned. Funny how they let the Dead play there, but cancelled a Rolling Stones show scheduled soon after. Cool to know we made the final show at the place.

...Took my nephew to the show...he was a fan. As we entered the parking lot, it seems like we stepped into a time machine. Long hair and tied dyed as far as the eye could see. Anyway, the usual heads were hawking their wares, and along comes a dude with only a pair of shorts on. His eyes were closed, floating along with this hand extended full of shrooms. Can't tell you how I resisted. Didn't ned to get high for the show... the band took me to places that night I'll never forget. Hell in a Bucket kicked major ass to lead off. The second set was perhaps the best of all the shows I ever attended. Jerry would be real proud of the way Bobby and Phil have taken over the mantle of keeping the dream alive. Long live the memory of Jerry and the Grateful Dead. Hoping the Dead get together again with Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring kicking in. Not absolute original sound, but it sure comes close to those magic times.
