I was at this show in Jamaica in '82, and at the 3 day festival there were video cameras everywhere! On the stage, camera booms were being lowered from the stage in front of the bands and into the crowd. None of this ever surfaced. I remember "Feyline Productions" from Colorado being involved with the video shoot. Would be awesome footage to see, the Dead didn't come on till 4:30am and played till after 7am. They stalled Scarlet Begonias until the sun started coming up, then went into Fire On The Mountain, incredible! Where is this footage.....

So, 10-4-70 was a quadrophonic sound FM-TV simulcast by KQED? It would be awesome to somehow get that reconstructed. I heard the rumor that they are not of high resolution. But hey, we'll listen to shitty old casette tapes! So, how about getting into it, digging in the dirt, and putting out a nice 5.1 DVD remaster??? In general, I vote for anything pre-1978 to come out, even if it's a compilation in the vein of the Led Zeppelin DVD box set. Something like that would be great. Sure, I'll throw in for Sunshine Daydream too. Although I have the bootleg & it sort of disappointed me a bit. I'd rather have seen the concert footage in the proper order, with all the songs... nevertheless, it's one of the greatest shows in history and it's amazing to see the 1972 Oregon scene. All the prankster hemming & hawing just kind of gets to you after a little while.

I've been downloading videos' for a while now and from everything I've seen I'm sure there's all sorts of tasty Dead video footage just sitting there. First of all I have some footage of The Ramones at Winterland in 1978, it's black and white pro shot. second in Kissology Vol 1 there is a show of theirs from Winterland 1975 that looks exactly the same. Then today I downloaded a Who video from the Cow Palace in 11/20/1973 that looks just like those others. On the bottom on the screen there's a time counter on the left side and on the right it says "BGP Archives"!! So you have this camera set in The Cow Palace at the end of 1973. So why wouldn't Bill Graham have put the same set up in Winterland at the same time? So if we conced they have this set up in place at the end of 1973 then there's probrably footage of the shows at Winterland in February 1974, and the one at the Cow Place in March, Possibly The Winterland shows from The begining of November 1973. And every show the Dead did at either the Cow Palace or Winterland from that time on. So make with the goodies!!!! I would LOVE to see the closing week at Fillmore West show (7/2/71). The movie 'Last days at the Fillmore' showed 2 songs, Casey jones and Johnny B. Good, but they must've filmed the whole show. I hear the band felt they didn't play their best that show. SO!!! I still want to see it.

I was just channel surfing when I came across a documentary about 70's music ("Have A Nice Decade") on VH1 Classic, and they mention The Allman Brothers and show some old live footage, I take a second to look and see if it's with Duane, and it was! Then after a few seconds on the bottom of the screen it says "Fillmore East 1970" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The reason I bring this up here is, didn't The Dead play with the Allmans at the Fillmore (I'm asking sarcasticly) maybe a couple of nights in February (I'm still being sarcastic). And if the cameras were rolling for The Allmans there's no reason to think they weren't rolling for The Dead, which means there's profesionaly done footage of The Dead at the Fillmore East in 1970. And to support this theory I'd like to bring up a video I've recently downloaded of Frank Zappa With John And Yoko sitting in, at the Fillmore East June 6 1971, that looks just the same as what was on VH1. So there's probrably all this great footage sitting somewhere. WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE WAITING FOR!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! THEY ARE SITTING ON A FORTUNE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not one of these putz's that think this should all be free and I think most people feel the same way. The people who own this footage have a nation of dead heads drooling to get this stuff, to pay like they would for any other live music DVD from any band they way we pay for the "View From The Vault" releases, The Dead Movie, and so on. I don't know if the Rhino people or anyone in that decision making proccess look at what's written here. But if they do I think I speak for a NATION of Dead Heads when I ask "What Are You Waiting For"?!?!Check Out My Orignal Music at myspace.com/salaversano

We were thrilled when the View from the Vault series started. Every year we got a new show that was great to watch. Then it dried up. Why???Yes, Sunshine Daydream is great. Especially if there would be more film footage then on the Pranksters movie. The music on the soundboard tapes is great. I prefer pre 1978 shows. But I am certainly not picky. Restart the series on a regular basis. As you can see everybody is longing for MORE. _________ Ship of Fools

I have purchased every official video release from GDM. All of these I have purchased again when they were re-released in the DVD format. So what I'm saying is that if you release video, ANY video, I will buy it. I promise, on this you can rely. Why have there been NO videos released since View From the Vault 4? Don't you want our money? Here's the deal: You offer videos for sale- I will buy them. You give me videos, I give you American dollars. Does that sound fair to you? By the way, do you realize it's been OVER five (5) years since VFTV4? Did you guys just space on putting out the videos? Sometimes I space out on doing stuff. Maybe if you tie a bow around your little finger, it would remind you to put out a few videos. So right now as soon as I post this, I'm heading out to get a big chunk of dough to give to you!!! All ya gotta do is drop a couple of videos... I know you can do it. Just try it, we'll all be so happy, it will be like the Forth of July!! Thank you for your co-operation in this matter. Sincerely yours, Bud Plant

Would love to see some Video from Summer 93' Shoreline had some great stuff a truly Epic Half-Step, Supplication, Brown_eyed Women and Stagger really cook. Cal Expo has plenty of stellar material, Buckeye's Jack Straw-Foolish Heart and an incredible post Drums sequence would make an excellent release. Kentucky was as good as it gets although it was indoors so video might not be available. Any of the three shows at Deer Creek would make a fine release. I think 1993 represents the bands finest output post Brent. The time off really seemed to help the band especially Jerry. Some of his best guitar work since the early eighties by far. No video or CD relase covers this brief yet powerful resurgence.

I still can't believe these shows have not been released on DVD and/or CDs... quite possibly the best Dead shows of the late '80's and 90's! I have seen low-fi clips from the shows on youtube, but I know there must have been some professional recording going on. Highlights: Jerry playing Wolf for the first time in forever, The first Help>Slip>Franklins in years, the first Dark Star in years, We bid you goodnight, Attics of my Life, etc etc! This would be a great latter- years DVD. And I will throw my hat in the ring for any videos from the 70's! Festival Express really was fantastic to see... what a great movie. More more more! Too much of everything just ain't enough!

Yeah kkeyser27!! I agree 100%. Hampton 89 is on the top of my list. I was so close to being at those shows it kills me. I was at some Housing rally in DC the day before (Jefferson Airplane played, Stevie Wonder, and i think Mikey was there). People were talking about the "Warlocks" show but unfortunately i was in school and responsibleness prevailed. What a fool. Amazing shows. i drool about thinking of hearing them in hi-def surround sound. Please!!"Music is the best" - FZ

I apologize as Sunshine Daydream's been requested to death, but I must concur. I've just read on another forum that it's not the breasts or drugs that "someone" found offensive, but "that naked guy on the pole". First of all, I've always thought he was wearing shorts, lest he get splinters in a very awkward place. The guy on the pole was one of the most striking things in the film, in my humble opinion. Seeing Jerry in THE ZONE while this miniature dervish squirms on his shoulder to the cozmik sounds is SO surreal, and coupled with the lurid colors of the film, strongly reminds me of an Italian "mythology" movie. BY ZEUS, KEEP HIM IN!! (and release the film while you're at it!!)

I could do without the naked guy, who a)kinda grosses me out (whereas the other nudity does not) and b)seems to me so out of it that he's oblivious to the splinters and probably got quite the painful surprise when the drugz wore off. But I'll just avert my eyes. Release the darn show!

Yes, the sunshine daydream is way over due for release. the big complaint when I first got my release on DVD (bootleg) from the inside the circle was the kesey camp didn't want everybody to have it becuase they thought it would compete with a official release.....this was about 3 years ago or so....well, everyday that goes by without a release it's losing ground for legit copies to be sold.... oh, did I say, it's a piece of rock and roll history that should be released....I can think of maybe some material that wouldn't be suitable with all the nudity, but a disclaimer will take care of that, and possibly stir up even more publicity upon release so more copies could be sold..... I've also heard that birdsong was filmed or at least parts of it , and 2 other songs as well....that might acct. for the extra material.... as for 1989 , yes 7-7-89 is a very well played show that should meet in any requirement for legit release in my opinion....very , very well played , one of the best played shows ever....yes, don't let the set lists fool you all the time....the scarlet>fire is on fire, and the blow away set closer is very hot.....the whole show rocks very , very hard....this is a good one with high level of energy and alot of right notes Donnie L. Hi Y'all, I think there has been talk about the JFK 1989 show slated for video release. According to Lemiux there are some decent video source available with multi-cam similar to "truckin up to buffalo" release. However, the performance of this JFK show is stellar. It would be a shame and debacle not to release this show in it's complete version. Please, no more partial compilations, not very many hardcore fans want thier GD to be a "greatest hits" for their (dreaded) iPod. It makes sense to release this show , the quality is there, and the performance is there, and the set list is there. Unlike the buffalo show where the band does play well, but almost restrained and the setlist is average in my opinion. As for sunshine daydream...I've givin up on it, and resort to my bootleg version which is OK. Evidently, the royality and production rights must be a issue between the filmaker, kesey camp, and the GD org. Also, I don't know if the naked pics and streaking fans with obvious children depicted at the event might be a connotation the GDP doesn't want to indirectly promote, and I can't blame them. To avoid such PR issues it would be prudent to offer this show for a download video release. I'm sure the GD could work this out;however, I don't know what camp is stalling for the release but suffice to say that all major collectors already have a decent quality version. I've heard there is more footage that has been found and remastered for the slated release of this film. It is classic and should be released in some capacity before the market is dried up on the secondary market and trade groups. Are they not really into promoting this thing, or are we about to get the pre-order media blitz?? Any new DVD (especially after what?, 2 years of nothing) should be front page news! Anyway- still excited about this one. My vote for next release is full length 88-91 show. Philly 89 would be great. "Music is the best" - FZ

The Grateful Dead have a prestigious history of being ahead of the curve technically speaking in terms of audio equipment. It seems fitting that they should start releasing some of their video material (live concerts especially) on Blu-Ray. The music would be better preserved on lossless Blu-Ray formats and the video as well.

I'd really like this in DVD or CD or download. Every song by members of the Dead & their longtime lyricists that were never released in a studio album. I'd love the most kick-ass live versions when the boys were hittin' on all cylinders!!!Days Between Lazy River Road Lone Way To Go Home Liberty Eternity (thogh not by the Dead) Corrina Broken Arrow Easy Answers Childhood's End So Many Roads Rollin' & Tumblin' Samba In The Rain Unbroken Chain (even though previously released, never played live before 95) Last Time (by the Stones but a good encore if the Rights aren't to hard to come by) Did I miss any? If so, I'd like them too. This would round out every Head's collection of Dead music. As it is, these tunes remain the only piece of the puzzle than needs to be filled in with iffy quality audience tapes and who knows how many generation soundboards. I'm sure a lot of Heads would appreciate this release.

What happened ? They were coming out consistently and then stopped. Were rumors of a release of some footage with Pigpen and although Festival Express was awesome, I was looking more further into a sole Grateful Dead concert release. I also have the collection of all the others as Downhill, Truckin, Dawg, Winterland, etc.. Also releases of crowd compilations as End of the Road and Tie Dyed. I've read other peoples comments concerning all the footage on the back screens of shows that included lot scenes and indoor video circulating amongst the crowd during the show I would imagine there could be some great compilations made realistic. Where are they ? I was at the Terrapin Family Reunion at Alpine Valley and was awed by the display of collections from and of the Vault. All that tape and film dilated my pupils, we are all patiently awaiting... I'm sure all these people that make these sorts happen are all very busy, I would just like to take an opportunity to thank them for all their doings on some very special releases past, present and about to come and let them know that we for sure are looking forward to some more. Keep up the good work keep it coming ! Would especially like to see something in a more High Definition source of audio/ video format (7.1 & 1080p) such as on Blue Ray Disc. Well Hey Now enough rambling, God Bless... One Love ! Looking forward :) peace.

I'd vote for DVD releases of any show from the summer of '89. 7/7 is probably at the top of the list. Downhill From Here is a great release, but the performances the next two nights are just as good. How about a release of the whole Alpine run -- leave all the shows intact and that could be the "excuse" for re-releasing 7/17 as part of a 3-show box.

My vote would have to be July 7, 1989.... JFK Stadium..... Philadlephia Pa. The reasons for this pick are many. First and foremost, this tour was simply put, one of thier best. Another one would have to be the Scarlet>Fire and Blow away are arguably the best career versions of these songs... This is debated on many boards, and I would tend to agree with those that say so. Listen to the streams at ARCHIVE if you never heard them. The number of people who showed up at this show is another reason it should be released. Municipal Stadium aka JFK Stadium was built to seat over 100,000 for a football game. On this date I heard that there was over 90,000 people in attendance and another 15,000 who , for whatever reason; didn't come in.... which surprises me since tickets were still being sold at the door when the first notes started playing. If these numbers are true, then this show might be the Band's most attended single act show in history... If someone knows of a bigger show please let me know.... Englishtown NJ might be the only other example. A Grateful Dead concert was also the last event ever to be held here. This is the show that almost wasn't. City officails were playing around with cancelling this show on the day of performance. Could you imagine what would have happened with 100,000+ deadheads being told there is no show at the last minute. Luckily the city father's took this into consideration and allowed the show to go on. For those who don't know, JFK was literally falling down. As the band played that night, a fine mist of cement was falling from the cement steps down onto the concourse below. Although the Rolling Stones would do some sound checks there later in the week, the venue was officially closed before thier show. Sadly this left Philly with nowhere for the Band to play summer tour anymore (The Grateful Dead refused to play The Vet... for obvious reasons).... Just imagine if JFK could have lasted just one more year for the epic 90 summer tour. As someone who attended both JFK shows, the other in 87.... A DVD of this show would be appreciated because if you were unlucky enough to sit on the risers, you really didn't get a good sound. I have heard the field was alot better. After listening to the soundboard of this show I think I believe those who say that. While so many of the summer tour 89-90 shows have already been released, I'm sure there are those who say "enough from this era".... And I might agree.... But this is a show that should have been released early on.... If only for the good playing and the historical aspects.

Well, i would pretty much buy any DVD of the Grateful Dead in concert live, even if it wasn't a complete show and / or a compilation -- that said, i would certainly hope for complete shows. Rhino, get them elephant ears up and please listen to the heads, WE WANT DVDs, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! pretty please with sugar on top! I'm gonna make a prediction that they will release the recent The Dead show with the fire dancers in the not too distant future. I am not sure if that was the only venue that had screens, but the shows we was at didn't have screens and i didn't see no cameras. a couple of those shows we was right down in the third row, KIND miracles from an old friend who got those cool seats at a bit more than cost through the Rex auctions!! he just sent me a very cool, signed by all members of the band, poster which was included in that charity tix package!!! oh, and Rhino and / or dead promoters, next time there is a tour, DO THE CHARITY AUCTION FIRST!! then the people with deep pockects will help the charity rather than the asshole scalpers or the consideritDung vip thing.

I could never figure out why this was never put out on DVD - it's always been a favorite of mine. I've even played this for many space cadets I knew that were not at all into the Dead, who then watched it in its entirety and declared it amazing. Plus, VCRs are hard to come by these days. Come on Rhino, put this out in 5.1.

I used to have a black and white pro-shoot VHS hi-fi copy of a partial set from 8/4/76: Is it now circulating as a dvd? I sure would like to see this show and hear it in dolby surround 5.1, too. Send me one and I'll be grateful in KC. buena suerte, Gr8fulTed
