This is awesome. I'm listening right now. Postcards I think is an absolutely perfect compilation. David, your point on Desolation -- I never noticed the missing verse -- just the flub on "Ezra Pound & TS Eliot...". No mind. It is still a perfect version. I have the 2 track bonus disc too. Only thing is, why not include Johanna? Isn't that the ONLY Dead Dylan tune excluded (when counting the 2 track bonus disc)? Even if you had to include the same version as on Philzone (which is absolutely perfect)... David - you make reference to *three* Dead Hours of Dead Dylan that inspired the compilation. I originally proposed a two-disc set that would have included every Dyan song the Dead ever performed, but that was nixed in favor of a single-disc compilation that left some songs out. Since "Visions of Johanna" was on Fallout from the Phil Zone, I felt it was okay to take that off this set. You can't do it all. Gans/GD Hour blog

Can't do it. This feature is Grateful Dead Hour programs that have been broadcast. I don't have access to those rehearsals any more, nor permission to broadcast them. There is a ton of Dylan-Dead rehearsal material out there in the trading world. Gans/GD Hour blog

David is right there are alot of great and not so great tapes from the Dead's preparations to tour with Dylan prior to summer 87'. He post a great taste of what their like here but if you want it all it's out there. I highly recommend it. Good stuff.

Great rehearsals: Stealin , Folsom, Gotta serve .. etc . Thanks p.s. personal opinion , id ve researched the Deads Dylan material Canon from 69 to the 70 s and some 80s - note SOME 80 s . Instead of concentrating on the late 80 s . But all in all your project managed to resist some very heavy criticism , for the lack of worthy materuial - for the project . p.s.s. A show or more of the Dead and Dylans 87 summer colaboration should be contemplated for released Or a compilation - 2 or 3 disc - for the fan of both . To see the high points . Example , they played Mr Tambourine only in Anaheim , but do you know how difficult it is to obtain a ' tape ' of that performance . Very very difficult . Postacrds was good , but there also could be some very intriguing projects , such as a product showing us the best of that summer s shows W Dylan . But more than the 88 CD Dyan the ead

The 80 s material for the Postcards album was just fine , very good . But in the earlier days , as well ; there were many , and many memorable Dylan song perforrmnaces . Obviously , and I accentuate the word obviously . The 80s / or 90 s / and late 70s recordings ar multi track . Which defeat / supposedly / in quality , recordings done up to 75 / 76 Lets wish for a utopic CD of summer 87 D and the D performances I know many who would quickly purchase a product like that . David, One of my favorites, Dylan and the Dead was such a strong combo.
