It's the day after Sunday and Ididn't get a Saturday. Now this chilly Monday morning will melt into a Sunny Thursday Afternoon. From there I will wish all things perfect for You...All, xo! To be in a moment - in the experience of an absence of demonic exchange within then doth each cell mutate, with infinite speed, into Heavenly Accord with a new respiration, never to be out done... unlike ever before. For surely as Heaven IS, it can only be an absence of evil; by design and where evil is surely Heaven is not. I hope you have a week that's Gratefully Dead. "Well my Mama told me my Papa told me too..." I Love You, All, xo! ------------------------------------(-----@

    Fall '73
Europe '72,Fall '73 and May '77 are all high points in the Grateful Dead touring history. Any dose from those periods is alright with me! Thanks alot DL.

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll check out some Grateful Dead music from 1968, 1973 and 1987.

Our first stop this week is at the Avalon Ballroom in October, 1968, where we have this classic sequence of time, featuring Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Death Don't Have No Mercy.

Next up is the show opening batch of songs from 11/14/73 in San Diego, right in the middle of one of the best two week periods of Grateful Dead music ever. From that show, we have Big Railroad Blues, Jack Straw, Mexicali Blues, Here Comes Sunshine, Black-Throated Wind, Cumberland Blues.

Lastly this week we have the entire first set of the Grateful Dead's return to Madison Square Garden in New York on 9/15/87, after a four year hiatus. From that show, we have Hey Pockey Way, Minglewood Blues, When Push Comes To Shove, Berr Barrel Polka tuning, Me and My Uncle>Mexicali Blues, Row Jimmy, Queen Jane Approximately, Tennessee Jed, The Music Never Stopped. Hey Pocky Way had been debuted the week before in Providence, and is the only Brent-sung song the Grateful Dead ever opened a show with.

Be sure to join us next week for more tunes from the vault.

Thanks for the music from November 1973: I sure loved the shows from October and December, as you implied above!

I haven't a chance to listen yet, though I guess the Avalon show is from October 12, going by the timing. An identical sequence, only in terms of song selection, was played the following night as well. Perhaps also noteworthy, this is the second and last Cumberland of the 73 Fall Tour, the first of which is from Omaha on 10/21. Thanks as always to DL for the mighty fine selections.
