    Fast Eddie
Fast Ed was my uncle... was born in 83 and he lived nearby til about 85 when him and Rack took off for eternal Dead Tour. Being a Dead fan/tape collector myself; i am so happy for all the love being shown for him! He truly was a special man. never knew he was part of the infamous "wrecking crew", wow, killer family lineage. for those of you wondering Ed died of a Lung Cancer. he passed away happily with his daughter, siblings, nieces and nephews by his side. hes just moved on to the next realm.

WOSW, just seeing that picture caused me a major flashback...I knew eddie[and his brother rack]back in the '80's in santa cruz, SF, etc. This is Lenny here, aka pinch a pennylenny. If there was ever a heads head it was eddie, a great guy who helped me out a time or three...So glad he was spotted in '08, I have wondered often. If you read this eddie, have you seen any of the old s.c family??/ Gordy, philly tony, moon maiden, monterey mike?? I know mike and janet are together in San jose...take care brother, I'd love to hear from you....Lenny

My God...who doesn't know Eddie...Got lots O' stories about Eddie. How bout this one. We were at a hectic Sacramento show in 94' and me and some friends were jonesin' for a balloon. We came upon a couple yuppies with a 60lb. They were selling mechanical grade with sulfur in it. We told them to stop and put it away. They didn't and got belligerent. Well...we had no choice but to get....The Wrecking Crew. They came..they saw...they conquered...they verbally abused those poor men and stole their tank from them to save all us hippies from brain damage. Thank God. Do you think that they let all the gas out of it, destroy it, toss it in the river!?! Nope. They took it back to their squat and sucked it all down. You funny guys you!!!! Not sure if you remember me Eddie, I'm that hippie kid with long hair, two arms, two legs, and a head? No. really, my best bud Nick used to actually come up to your squat in upstate Ny and visit you. Me, Mike, Nick...all us guys used to hang with ya once in a while. Good to see you MUST still be hangin in there...don't know how, but ya are!!!!

I love you so much, Ed. You mean the world to me. I'm so thankful for all the love you've shown to me and my girls. You are a giant full of heart and spirit beyond your image. You are my shining star and I will always love you! Can't wait to see you again. I know nobody appreciates more than you our Grateful Dead family, and I know how much you care. I'm so glad I've got somebody like you close to my heart. Hope you'll read all these messages, 'cause it's Ed appreciation day. Lots of love to all those out there surviving better with a little Grateful Dead love in their hearts...

Let me start again, I miss all the wrecking, where is Artie? what happened to the other Eddie that listened to Blue Grass and stayed in Akron? Called Him New York Eddie, He taught me how to drive and stay alive, Artie and New York Eddie helped me put food in my sons mouth and diapers on his ass when no one else had my back. My son is now in College to be a Bio Engineer and ero-space engineering, Paper expands the mind!

Hey Now Lenny, Did you ever run into my real brother Tom "T-Bone" Nelson? He ran/toured with Eddie and the krew back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Tom passed in 2/96, in Buena Vista Park after about 6 mo. after Jerry, while still in morning Jerry's passing. to much vodka and smack. Have been trying to find people that knew my brother Tom. Also a younger head named Larkin Baker, ran with Tom and Eddie, trying to locate him.My brother and I was from Alaska, but we grew up in Santa Cruz as young kids before Mom moved us up to Alaska....I live in Oakland now. Take Care... Budley
