it is so cool for a deadhead to zero in on a topic, interest or resource. Way and beyond anybody else out there in the same genre. If we can't have the real thing, then at least we can have what is current. That is worth a note of thanks for!

Apparently you've figured out how to post. If what you meant was "How can I start a new topic?," the process is to send a request for the new topic to our beloved moderator, marye. Congratulations on your new career! Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

How do I post on this site? I graduate nursing school in 5 weeks and will be a licensed nurse before I can post on my own on this site. You try to accommodate too many people. Is there a place for people to be critical of the band (besides New Jersey)? Thank you, Roger

email notification of a PM would be cool... of course it would be a preference (select) thing also handy would be a link on everyone's profile to their recent posts I'm thinking this would help out in the vineyard quite a bit - tracking down someone that may not be checking in very often anymore (but has the goods) let me take this opportunity to say to Marye - mods don't get any better - thanks!

I can't get a photo to post either. Any help here?I am trying to inquire about the photo I used for my "profile picture". I found this brass ticket in my Mom's garage. Was it really an annual pass to New Years Eve Grateful Dead Concerts at Winterland? Or simply keychain type memorabilia? Any info, much appreciated. T.U.

yes I did get a profile picture up. but I am trying to post to fan photo page. I upload and save and come right back to the fan photo upload page with no results. Also, can't get into chat room. I'm asked to sign on, although I already am, and get a message "incorrect sign on". Thanks for any clarity you can send my way. jc

Do I sure miss that handy little "Filter by..." thingy. Especially as I've been away for a bit and ignoring all the vine threads is a tedious, albeit trivial nuisance.

if you go to your own Recent Posts instead of being ensnared by All Recent Posts, which is the same whether you're logged in or not and hence not very useful, you will find yourself on more familiar ground, I suspect. This came up in another thread just now.

Didn't the "shows by year" function used to work differently...where I could actually pick a single year and scroll through just that year? Is there a way to still do that now? Or will it ever change back? Let's say I want to look for a specific show or run of shows in, say, 1978. Right now, it looks like all I can do it start in '65 and just try to jump 5 pages at a time or so and keep working my way through the years. Is there a better way?

Hey - a possibly stupid question, but I honestly can't find anything about this. I want to post in Seekers - I'm looking for anyone who might have photos of the JGB, onstage and off, during Nicky Hopkins' tenure from September 1975 until January 1976. But it tells me I am "not allowed to post new content in this forum." Help, please? I'm clearly logged in. Why is that particular folder snooting me?

Maryland deadhead in need of live recordings. I now live in Mojave, Ca. I lost my whole life due to a car accident. I no longer have any of my treasured recordings.I really would appreciate if someone could help a retired capitolhill head out. I am interested in shows I attended and of course Ca. recordings. East coast shows I am in need of are Columbia and Landover Md., Hampton Va., and the infamous Nassua coliseum. I cut my teeth at these eastern shows. I can no longer tour due to my health. These certain recordings are all I have left to remember and cherish the band, the road, exspecially Jerry and Brent! Sitting here thinking and writing about Hampton coliseum and merriweather post pavilion brings tears of joy to me. Please anyone who can help me reconnect to some of my golden years it would be treasured and compensation is negotiable! Thank you , Let the good times roll. Dead head Ed.

there should be an Edit tab. Click it and go to the relevant box, edit to what you'd like, and Save. That should do it. If you have trouble lemme know. You can also change your password.

I can't seem to get to site either by typing www.dead.net into address bar or by clicking on bookmark. It prompts me to download a zip file which in turn puts me in loop back to the original download prompt. Was able to get to site by searching for dead net and going in through other pages on the site. Once on the site I can navigate fine. Tried replacing my bookmark once on the site. Still doesn't navigate to page and prompts me to download zip file again. Please help

yeah, I too had this problem, followed your same steps, I serched on bing, then acessed the site through the search engine, which worked, then rebookmarked the site, all this after I logged in, once logged in, seems to work ok, hope this helps some, once you get to site thru search engine, log in, then rebookmark, worked for me.

I've got to comment about this new web site. Who's idea was this? Gone is the nice warm and friendly feeling I got when I use to view these pages, now, it looks like everyother site. It is generic, plain, simple, nonfriendly and hard on these old eyes. Why would you do this? I'm all for progress, but when it goes against all that is good, well it's just wrong. I wouldn't have even known I was on the Grateful Dead's web site if it wasn't for the steelie under that god awful grateful logo lettering. Gone are the good old trippy letters that use to grace this page, the way it is set up, the topics are too many and too cluttered, very difficult to navigate or even find what you need, the boarders make my eyes twinge and if stared at long enough might cause convulsions :) I don't like the way the posts show up on the pages either, just my opinion but I liked the old site when it had planets on the home page and you navigated thru space, now that's what the dead were all about.

Thanks Unkle Sam for the advice. Logging in to the site worked. Now my issue is that I aparently have to stay logged into the site at all times? I work in web security and I have a GIANT problem with this. Not to mention that anybody who has never been to the site or isn't a member is aparently not welcome because thay'll never be able to see the home page without "backdooring in." Doesn't sound very GD to me. Just an observation.

This is just horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugly, clunky (even for an experienced net user) ugly...really sorry for all this negativity. I am NOT a person who is opposed to new things, but this new look is dreadful! And figuring it out will NOT attract new users, I am relatively sure!

got to agree, I mean who did this, somebody who obviously knows nothing about the dead, didn't even know est. date, I know it will fall on deaf ears, but you've got to fix this, fire the company who created this bland piece o' crap and get someone, anyone else to do it.

marye, you need to go back to your first post in this forum and revise your first line. For older ones like myself it's real confusing.....if I was a newbie here I probably would have gotten stuck there.

Or it does work if you have a giant sized screen. Looking at dead.net and interacting with it is no longer an enjoyable experience. This happens with every computer I use. It's been happening since the two stores combined into one website. I wish somebody would fix it as it is practically unusable now and I'm sure I'm not the only person who is having this problem.

Well, the giant 4x or 6x screen is gone and there is now only a bit of newness to go through. Not that bad. However, the golden zenith of dead.net has been reached, never to be seen again, with it's warm tones and textures and (ugly) copyrighted pictures (unless you, like Jackson, thought these over-sized marks were cute.) It was cool. It was a trip. Now, it's reduced to ugly and boring and for sale.... The items therein, that is. Rhino's contract is up this year, right? (Sighhhh!)

Got a question, hopefully not a stupid one! I've been trying to look up song lyrics in the archive and none of them get to the end of the song. It just stops at a point and I cannot go any further to see the rest of the lyrics. It stops at the "get on the list" pop up and is there a way to stop seeing that? I'm on the list and just re listed to see if the pop up would go away and it doesn't. Thanks
