dead not need to be there, thanks
Thismorning the show was on the Grateful Dead Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio and I am blown away. Even on the funky little speakers of my laptop this show comes across as a psychedelic relic of awe and wonder. No TV in this house so the Dead channel has been providing much entertainment and relaxation of late. Although I known most of the Deads lyrics by heart, I never been one to be in the loop and I neither need nor want to be, so hearing the three a day show broadcasts as well as this day in Dead history spots and the infinite permutations of the set list on the satellite has been revelation. It was a slow train coming but I find reason to believe that Captain Trips was the greatest electric guitarist of all the rock legends.

Although the 3 shows before it has gotten the most attention over the years, this show is just as satisfying to listen to as any of em maybe even more so. Ive flip flopped deciding which of the 4 is better and may never come to a conclusion. This 4 show run is my favorite music from any band, any place from any era. The SQ is stunning, makes you feel like you were at the venue. The raw energy mixed with a certain familiarity with the material makes these shows............ Anyways 3/2/69, get yourself a lossless copy (legally), jump in front of the best audio equipment you can find yourself, and make sure you have a little time on your hands. Enjoy.

I just heard this show for the first time today on Sirius. What an fantastic Lovelight jam towards the end! About blew me out of my chair. Sometimes I forget just how amazing some of the late 60s Dead shows really were!

Living up on Turk St. and selling alot of acid on this run, we'd just stumble back up the hill after the shows. I think we stayed awake by just eating more and more acid the last two days............

my 544 volvo was used as commuter car to the city every time we could get there. Just crammed in the car, I think it was about once a month they played @ the Fillmore West. The guards who greeted everyone @ the door were nice back then, at least to us. It was loads of fun..........the older brothers of my childhood friends being the ones who told us about all this music going on in the city from early on, besides my folks driving up on weekends, going by the Panhandle........although they'd never let me out-had to walk over there........Great show, loads of fun.......Gypsy Cowgirl

I am a bit confused about 3/2/69 and what songs were played...my copy of Deadbase (admittedly an old and dog-eared copy of DB VII) lists the 1st set as: Doin' That Rag Dark Star> St. Stephen> The Eleven> Lovelight Set 2: Cryptical Envelopment> Drumz> Other One> Cryptical> Death Don't> Caution> We Bid You Goodnight But the Rhino release (which contains a blue handwritten set list, apparently from Dick Latvala) lists the Rag as opening the 2nd set, going into That's it For The Other One>Death Don't, and here Deadbase and Rhino begin to differ... Rhino states that the rest of the set is as follows: Morning Dew, Alligator>Caution>Feedback>Bid Ya Goodnight. This is different indeed and i wonder which is acurate. i would wager that the GD release is true as it is more recent, but then again, when it comes to the old dead stuff, there really is know telling! So does anyone know what the actual setlist for 3-2-69 is?

Just listened to this show all the way through on gdradio.net, another amazing show. First set Dark Star > St. Stephen > The Eleven > Turn on Your Lovelight Second set Doin' that Rag > That’s it for the Other One > Death Don’t Have No Mercy Morning Dew Alligator > Drums > Jam > Caution Jam> Feedback We Bid You Goodnight Northbound Headlight, maybe they are both wrong and both right? :)
