    Friday night Portchester
Wonderful theatre now restored. Great Phil show with Jackie Greene-what a Blast! I wish the folks at Capitol the best-they do a great job. Another great place-House of Blues in N. Myrtle Beach-saw Phil there a few summers ago.

I was born under a lucky star, having been to three Grateful Dead concerts at Portchester. They were my first three Grateful Dead concerts, 11/5/1970 and then a few days later 11/8/1970. What an introduction! Great, great shows, with acoustic Dead and the NRPS at the 11/8 show. I think there was an acoustic set at the 11/5 show, but my memory is not 100% in that regard, and there don't seem to be any known copies of anything but the electric set on 11/5. Even though I was so fortunate to be there for these two wonderful shows, my favorite GD concert of all time was my third show at Portchester, the 2/18/1971 show, the last show of the first Mickey Hart era, and the show where we first heard the Dead play Bertha, Loser, Johnny Be Good, Wharf Rat, Playing in the Band .... and of course the Beautiful Jam .... so Phil (and friends).... after 42 years, this 60 year old is going to make a pilgrimage to a place of youth and initiation to enjoy the music of today (and look for ghosts from yesterday). anticipation ......
