December 1st: A Buck Dancer’s Choice At The Fillmore

A Benefit for the Rex Foundation in Honor of Jon McIntire

    Featuring

Bob Weir – Mickey Hart Band
With Special Guests To Be Announced

    Saturday, December 1, 2012
    The Fillmore
    1805 Geary Blvd., San Francisco
    6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Jon McIntire, former manager of the Grateful Dead and New Riders of the Purple Sage, was also a longstanding member of the Rex Board of Directors, continuing until his passing as an active member of the Rex Advisory Board. On Thursday, February 16th, 2012, Jon McIntire passed away. We feel a profound sense of loss. We want to honor Jon and the tremendous gifts he has contributed to all of us who have had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him. In early 2001, at the Board meeting to plan the renewal of Rex, we began discussing our first benefit that would take place on December 1. Jon said softly, yet forcefully: “This must be a jewel of an event, tasty in every detail!” Inspired since by these words, we look forward to December 1, 2012 being a tribute worthy of Jon’s description.

Set up in festive cabaret style with reserved seating on the floor, The Fillmore, with its beauty and iconic connection to the Grateful Dead, sets the stage for this special occasion. At the pre-concert reception, enjoy hearty finger foods and beverages as you reconnect with friends and family. Your generous reception/concert ticket purchase of $250, $500, or $1,000, of which all but $75 is a charitable contribution, will fund Rex Foundation grant making. As a special way to celebrate Jon McIntire’s ongoing community legacy, all of the Uncle John’s Band $1,000 tickets proceeds will be used to fund $5,000 grants in Jon’s memory. All Uncle “Jon’s” Band contributors will be acknowledged on our website as Jon McIntire Grant Funders. Consider organizing one or more tables of 5 and help us quickly fund grants connected with Jon.

Join the Rex Foundation on December 1 as they come together to celebrate the music and the benefits of collective energy.

    this was just lovely
Many fine moments, including a rare acoustic Dark Star with Weir and members of ALO, Weir solo acoustic (loved hearing Black Throated Wind...) and a completely awesome set by Mickey's band with old and new material. Seems to be quite a lot on YouTube already!
