    Berkeley Greek Shows
Went to the Friday and Sunday shows at the Greek, my old stomping grounds from college days. The wonderful vibe from those bygone times was still alive and well. I didn't see too many people walking around without smiling faces! Some great performances as well, with the "youngsters" really working hard to please. I literally felt Phil's bass pounding in my chest where I was sitting/standing Friday night. That felt both wonderful and strange, as I couldn't differentiate between my heartbeat and the pulsing bass. Weird but cool. And Courtenay Pollock's amazing tie-dyed backdrop seem to transform into a living, breathing organism when the lighting danced across it. Very trippy - hope they use it again down south. It was a very satisfying aural and visual feast that I guess will have to suffice until the Dead re-convenes with Bobby, Phil, Billy and Mickey in 2015 for the 50th anniversary festivities. Well, I can hope, can't I?

Those of us who are in Europe (I'm in the UK) are desparate to see Furthur. What will it take to get them to cross the water??

Would it kill these guys to cross the border and play Toronto? Year after year it's the same old places. It's maddening .

In Canada and Europe, I have just the opposite problem. They seem to be following me around every summer. The Meadow Brook Amphitheater in Gilford, NH is a sweet little venue. The parking lot is a like a giant park. Saw a forgettable Phil show there but had a great time anyway. Come up (or down) to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire if you can. Poncho Bill, did you catch Furthur at the Ottawa Blues Festival a few years ago?

Thanks for your message of positivity and dedication. Brazil is a long way off, even if you have frequent-flyer miles. We tend to be quite jaded around here. The band and it's different iterations have played and played and played and we've had the opportunity to hear them every year from 1964 to 2013. Your message is quite refreshing! Please come again this summer for the compact East Coast summer tour. I'd be happy to host you for a night and talk your ears off about the emerging continent of South America and the country of Brazil that is leading the charge.

The first summer since I moved from RI to NC that some iteration or another of the band won't be stopping in my neighborhood. Stopping in my old neighborhood, of course!

Is it my imagination or does Further skip Chicago on every tour? Used to be a hot spot for multi-night gigs. Oh well.

Sure hope Bob's ok....! Apparently, he fell onstage last night due to some shoulder trouble and couldn't finish the show (after sitting down for the rest of "Unbroken Chain").

Good grief, Bob. Collapse on stage and still keep trying to play the song lying flat on your back. Now that's deadication. Hope you're feeling better.

go by Furthur.net for the more current info. Per the site, the tour is on, but all of us anxiously waiting for info on the hometown shows are just going to have to see how things work out, I guess...

Considering the symptoms--shoulder pain, staggering, collapsing--has it been determined if Bob had a heart attack on stage? Because, based on all the information/rumors floating about, it sounds to me like it was a heart attack. Whether it was age-induced or drug-induced is beside the point; get well, Bob! You still have a lot of shows to play before the 'Dead reunite in Valhalla!

Get healthy Ace, Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow. Peace.

"Valhalla (from Old Norse Valhǫll "hall of the slain) is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, led by valkyries. From Wikkipedia. Thanks for the reference, Parkas. I would hate to think that the deceased members of the Dead go to the "Hall of the Slain", but then again I've had some pretty strange dreams... (cue Flight of the Valkyries)

Really the amount of Operator (no pun intended) that has gone on per Bob is ridiculous - leave it alone. If you don't know don't speculate it does nothing but cause hurtful and sometimes serious rumors. I know what happened so I feel the right the say this. Leave it alone - 90% of what I have read is wrong. Either love the Band and the person and wish them well or keep your thoughts to yourself and stop seeing them. But really act your ages and stop this nonsense. If you stop and seriously ask yourself does it do any good - if the Band wants you to know they'll tell you - but have you noticed a silence lately - might be a clue.

Yeah I have noticed that as well and it is a little disappointing. I've been waiting for the boys to come back since I saw them at Northerly Islands last year. That was July people! Come on guys, you gotta gimme some lovin'!

That if extended rest for Bob is in order that I, for one, wouldn't mind checking out Mickey Hart's latest this summer. Really, please take all the time you need Bob. We all love you!

I was really hoping to see Madison or Alpine Valley on the stopover list. No such luck this year....and now it doesn't matter anymore anyway. I'm with everybody else.....who cares if they even tour this year or not. All the best to Bob and his family. Your health is all that matters. Everything else can wait.

As long as Bob feels well you'll be truckin' off to Marymoor while I'll be shuffling off to Meadowbrook. You know these wandering minstrels are getting old.

digitalrbb1 the lawyer? or the interventionist? Just curious, could answer a few questions. You say you know, but I have not seen any nasty rumors on this site, just speculations on Bob's health and what happened, no rumors that could be said to be hurtful or serious. Lighten up pal, we are all a little worried about Bob's well being, that's all, no one wants to hurt anyone. I;ll bet your mom said "act your age' alot too, did she tell you how to do that? I've always had a problem acting my age, which as we all know means nothing, it's just a number. Get well Bob, we'll all be here when you are ready.

Furthurs website was better. We put a lot of love and money into Furthur, wish the website reflected that. I should be able to check a set list the day after a show, nope. I should not see stuff on main page that happened a week ago. Kinda weird, I'd run that site for next to nothing with my buddy.

If you are on Facebook not only can you get links to listen to the show live, they update the set list in real time. No need to wait until the day after. Go to the Deadheadland facebook page and away you go. Keep surfing!
